Chapter 5

Nash chose a different path for his youth in this lifetime, allowing himself to fall into decadence. However, I couldn't afford that luxury; I had to strive upward to fulfill my dreams.

I glanced around, my eyes gradually adjusting to the prolonged darkness, allowing me to faintly discern the contours of the equipment room. This room had only two exits—one was the door behind me, and the other, a narrow window.

As darkness descended, I couldn't afford to delay any longer. I fumbled around and found a baseball bat, using it to strike the glass window. The shattering sound was piercing, but at this hour, there was no one left on the campus to take notice.

I carefully climbed up through the window frame, feeling a bit dizzy as I went. The equipment room was on the second floor, and below the window, there was nothing but a concrete floor—no grass in sight.
