ETHAN

~Trusting sucks when you get stabbed in the back repeatedly~

“What are you doing here?” I whispered, placing his coffee on the round table.

The smirk on his lips was gone, replaced with a look that sent a shudder down my spine, like he'd answered the same question before. He made me feel dumb for asking a reasonable question.

He took a small sip of the coffee, his eyes never leaving mine, “I followed you here, Master. I wasn't allowed to go in through the back door.”

Why on earth was he even following me?

I pinched the bridge of my nose, glancing over my shoulders to stare at my grumpy boss. “You need to leave. Now.” I spat, fingers tightening around the silver tray. He ruined my class with Prof. Meadows, he'd definitely do the same here.

Standing up close to him was already messing with my system.

“I'm not leaving. I'll stay till you close up.” He gave me a challenging smile, almost like he was saying ‘you can't make me leave. I'm stuck with you till death'

“That's not going to work.” I swallowed, watching as a few ladies kept staring at Killan. They weren't just staring—they were gawking at him.

I suddenly wanted to shove him inside for my eyes alone. He was too beautiful to be beholded by the world.

I raked my fingers through my hair, exhaling out loud. “First, you barged into my school, and now, you're stalking me at my work place. What exactly are you?”

“Your loyal servant.” He grinned, taking a majestic sip of the coffee again.

I didn't have time for this.

Deep down, I knew that Killan wasn't going to leave.

He'd never.

Not even if I forced him.

I returned back to the counter to begin taking orders, but just like the lady staring at him earlier had been waiting for me to leave his table, she slipped Into the seat across from him, her fingers naturally finding its way towards his wrist.

Her actions zapped discomfort down my spine.

I tried to rip my gaze away—to act unconcerned—but I couldn't.

My eyes unconsciously found its way to her red lips, reading each sentence that flowed out of them. “You look new around here.” She slurred, leaning her face on her palm, “changed cities?”

To hear them quite clearly, I began taking orders from tables close to theirs.

Now, standing up close to Killan, I watched his reaction to her question. He slowly placed his coffee cup on the table, his eyes devoid of any emotion. “Hmm. I did.”

“Explains your British accent.” She slurred, leaning even closer, so fucking closer I wanted to snap her in two. ‘She is hot.’ Hot was an understatement. She was an exotic beauty men would eagerly wait on the line to have a chit chat with, but Killan didn't even bat an eyelid.

“Do you think we might hang…out sometime?” She asked.

“No, sweetheart. Not this week.” Killan spelled, leaning against his chair.

“How about the next?”

“Also completely booked.”

“So you have a girlfriend you'd rather spend your entire time with?”

Strangely, Killan's eyes found mine. “And she's extremely jealous, she'd snap you in two if she lays her paws on you.”

“How jealous is she? I think I can handle her.”

“I bet you can't.” He smirked, pushing his chair backwards. “I gotta go.”

“Where?”

Killan didn't respond. A relief.

He handled the situation smoothly, leaving the young girl in a state of confusion. He'd said he wanted to leave the restaurant, but why was he advancing towards me?

He stopped before me, slowly slipping his hands into his pocket. “Had fun eavesdropping?”

“E..eavesdropping?” I chuckled, tightening my grip on the silver tray. “Why on earth would I eavesdrop on your conversation with—” I pointed at the blonde, giving a nervous smile. “I..I mean, I was just looking out for you.”

He smirked, stepping closer. “Looking out for me by eavesdropping?”

“You're new here, what if she wanted to lure you out somewhere?”

“Where?” He grinned, running his smooth fingers through his hair, “You're afraid I'd get raped by dozens of hot ladies?”

“I mean….yeah.” I nodded, avoiding his gaze, “trust me, you wouldn't want that to happen.”

“But it doesn't seem all bad.” He glanced over his shoulder, watching her with his hawk-like gaze. Just like she felt the burn in her skin, she whirled around, giving Killan a nasty wink.

“You know what? You should leave.”

“Why?”

“Because…. you're interrupting my work!”

Killan gave me his hurtful look again, placing his palm over his chest. “Oww, that hurts.” He leaned closer, his magnetic voice grazing my ears. “Why do I feel like you're…jealous?”

“Stop being ridiculous.” I pushed him away, glaring hard at him. “You know what? Just stay away from me.”

A few customers were starting to get all grumpy in their seats, and soon, my boss would dash out and start cursing under his breath at how incapable I was.

I didn't want to lose my job. It'd kill me.

Clutching the tray hard, I walked past Killan, but he suddenly grabbed my wrist, his nails grazing my skin. “Master, don't walk home alone tonight.”

“What?!” I pushed his hands away, glaring hard at him. “Stick your nose in your business.”

But deep down, I felt a bit uneasy.

He'd said it desperately, like he was indirectly warning me of an impending doom. “Promise me you won't walk home tonight.”

  • My Dear Master, We're Mates! (M×M)   Chapter 175: Demon with a heart

Author's note: Guys! I made a terrible mistake with the chapter. Please, chapter 175 comes before 174. I made a mistake while uploading, so please, understand that 175 comes before 174. KOLRegal leans against the large, brown chair in his throne room, fingers wrapped around a glass of scotch. The morning light spills in through the curtains, and even with the tension in the air, there’s a certain glow that makes me feel warm from inside out. “You left my side quiet early last night,” he says slowly. His fingers tighten around the glass, and it cracks a little. “Had some business to attend to?” I stretch on the couch I’m seated, folding my hands at the back of my head, eyes fixed on something else—a flower vase—rather than his stone cold face. “Yes,” I say plainly, “I had to sort out some things.”“And do you mind telling me what that is?”I cock a brow, “you’re interested in what I do with my free time now?” He notices the surprise in my voice, and he meets my gaze, a cold look in

  • My Dear Master, We're Mates! (M×M)    Chapter 174: Cursed

ISABELLA Morning light slices through the curtains, and a low grunt crawls out of my throat. It’s still damn early, but my skin’s already sticky, drenched with sweat, burning like meat laid on a grill. I can still taste the metallic scent that lingers on my tongue. Me, a ruthless vampire, has been coughing out blood. Kol offered to stay throughout the night—acting way out of character—but I refused. I can’t allow him to do that. Regal could barge in at any time, but now I regret not having Kol around. Last night was horrible. Terrible.Worse in the most horrifying ways. I coughed out so much blood, it felt like I was puking my guts out, and when I looked into the mirror, I screamed. I couldn’t recognize myself. I still don’t recognize the pale, thin lady with sunken eyes that’s staring back at me. I think I’m dying. But vampires don’t die. Then what the hell is wrong with me?Footsteps become louder. Every damn maid that walks by, I can hear them whispering about me. “The vampi

  • My Dear Master, We're Mates! (M×M)   Chapter 173: He’s helping?

ISABELLA Did I just ask him to mind control me? I must be insane. I know there’s no getting out of dancing—in a bikini—for the almighty Regal, but that doesn’t mean I’d be willing to allow Kol to control me. Can I take back my words? He’s staring at me, harsh blue eyes boring holes into mine. It’s frightening and mysterious at the same time. I can stare at it all day. He clears his throat, ripping me from my thoughts. “Changing your mind already?”A gasp slips out of me. Can he read my thoughts?A small smile tugs at his lips, “tell me, Isabella, is the weather messing with your brains? You tell me you don’t like to be controlled, and the next second, you want me to.”I swallow hard, still staring at his bare face. He tilts his head, like he’s studying me, reading me, and the next instant, his cold fingers brush my chin. “What do you really want, Isabella?”I gulp slowly. “I don’t want to dance for him.”He closes his eyes, like he’s taking in my answer, then his eyes snap open. “Wh

KOLDays pass by in a blur, and Mordew has been peaceful so far. I still drill soldiers daily, but one new routine added to my day is to watch Isabella eat breakfast. I took my time watching her today, smiling as she elegantly picked up the fork, then I went to my office to get busy. My office is quiet. The kind of quiet that presses against your skull and makes you feel the weight of your own thoughts. As I flip through files, reading them and signing some documents, Isabella keeps crossing my mind. I fucking want to see her again. I want to head to her room and have a conversation with her, and listen to the sound of her laughter. She doesn't know she's dangerous to me, but now I know. And I think this is trouble. Natasha strolls in, and I immediately notice the grin on her face, the way her eyes sparkle like she’s already holding some secret she wants to share. • My Dear Master, We're Mates! (M×M)   CHAPTER 170

ISABELLA The way Kol killed that man plays over and over in my head. I have killed too, I know what it feels like to take a life, but the way he did it like it was nothing, I can't understand it. By noon I cannot sit still anymore. My room feels small around me, the air pressing against my chest like heavy weight. I need space, a walk, or sometime in the library. Immediately I step out of my room, the guards are waiting. Quickly, they surround me before I can take a single step. “Back inside,” one of them says, his voice sharp like I'm a mere commoner or prisoner trying to escape. I don't lower my head. “I'm just going to the library,” I say calmly, “do you think I would stoop so low to climb out the library window?” The second guard snickers. He leans closer, his smile ugly. “That’s none of our business, princess. Your place is in that room until Lord Regal says otherwise. If you think dressing pretty makes you free, then you’ve mistaken your worth.”The words cut, but I don’t l
