Chapter 52: Background Noise

Meredith’s confidence was brimming as she plowed through her work projects for the morning. Her creative juices were overflowing. She was on a roll and she didn’t want to lose her momentum. Her focus was deep into her work and for the first time that week she didn’t notice any stares on her or the whispers that were surely to come afterwards. She pumped out design after design and fine tuned and perfected every little detail. At this rate she might not need the office set up at home. But she did have to remind herself that this wasn’t a normal pace and she had come in early. She couldn’t write off the home office just yet.

Other than Karen bringing over some work to Meredith’s desk, Meredith hadn’t noticed anyone else in the room at all. She was so focused on her work that she felt she was alone in the office. Of course, had she stopped to think about it and look a
