Chapter 4

Author: Trifle
"Mom, you should have been more careful. Why did you let just anyone in?" The younger woman held up her phone and began filming me with her brows furrowed. "There are a lot of mental people nowadays. If she breaks anything in our house or causes any trouble, there's nothing we can do."

After listening to those words, the elder lady pointed at me with a broom and threatened, "Get the hell out of here or I'll beat you up!"

With that said, she swung the broom in her hand.

I knew they wouldn't believe anything I said at that moment.

I had all the evidence I needed anyway. I planned on leaving, calling the police, and accusing them of trespassing on my property.

However, just when I reached the door, something hit the back of my head.

The elder lady's voice could be heard. "She's indeed mental. Since you want to have it the hard way, this is what you get for disturbing us. If you don't leave now, then I..."

I became infuriated, turned around, took the broom, and swung it at the elder lady's head. "You must have a death wish! How dare you hit me after forcibly occupying my house?"

'No wonder you're Derek's in-laws! You're one of a kind!' I exclaimed inwardly.

I wasn't planning on arguing with them since they didn't know anything, but I wasn't going to let them off after hitting me.

The elder lady immediately fell to the ground. She covered her head, rolled around, and shouted, "She's trying to kill me! Quick, Shannon, call the police! Someone is trespassing and has attacked me!"

Shannon was filming and when she saw me fight back, she quickly dragged her mom into the bedroom and locked the door.

'Want to rip me off? Fine! Saves me calling the police!' I thought.

Soon, two police officers pushed open the door.

"Who called the police?"

"It was me, officer!"

After hearing the voice of the police, Shannon quickly opened the door and pointed at me. "I was the one who called the police! This woman charged into my house for no reason and began filming me! She even hit my mom!"

The elder lady walked out with her head covered as she moaned in pain. "That's right, officer. Seize this woman immediately! She has to pay for my medical fees and compensate my daughter!"

The police officers gave me a suspicious look.

Shannon handed her phone to the police. "I filmed it when she hit my mom. Here's the evidence."

I was rendered speechless.

"Officers, I wanted to call the police as well. They trespassed into my house, caused financial damage, and wanted to rip me off."

The elder lady rushed over and spat on my face angrily. "Nonsense! This is the wedding house that my son-in-law bought!"

I immediately retorted, "This is my house, you fool! Your son-in-law picked the lock and lied to you saying that this is his house!"

Seeing that the two of us were telling two different stories, the police took us both back to the police station.

Inside the police station, I showed them photos of my deed, purchase certificate, and the renovation plan.

Even though the evidence was in front of her, Shannon and the elder lady still didn't believe me. They still pointed at me and said that I was lying and that the photos were Photoshopped. They still claimed that the house was theirs.

An officer wanted to calm the elder lady down but was pushed aside. She pointed at the officer and cursed, "Do you think I'm stupid? You're on the same team! You're a bunch of swindlers working together and want to take the house from us! I won't sign anything before my son-in-law arrives. Just you want!"

The elder lady's stupidity caused the officer recording the statement to roll his eyes.

Derek suddenly became worked up, grabbed my neck, and shook me. "It's all your fault! Now that my wife's gone, I have a lot of debt to pay back. If it weren't for you, how would I end up like this?"His actions made me want to throw up. I cursed inwardly, 'Your wife left you because you lied to her. What has that got anything to do with me?'"Laura, you're from a wealthy family and you have a house to live you. All I want to do is to borrow the house for a while. Why did you have to drive me out? How dare you treat me this way? Besides, that house was prepared as a wedding house for me. What's wrong with me living in it? Why did you call the police? Why did you get your cousins to corner me? Now that I'm broke, are you happy? I hate women like you who don't have to worry about anything. You have your father when you're single and you'll have your husband when you're married. You're just a useless woman who can only rely on men! You even ask for a wedding gift and ask for the man to p

Later on, my mom still went and asked around about Derek.Soon, the house was sold.At the same time, my mom told me that Derek had divorced his wife and it caused quite a scene."His wife was from a rural family. She only agreed to marry Derek because he had a house in an urban city. She didn't expect the house to be a lie. His wife's family was unwilling to accept such a situation. After his wife moved out, she requested a divorce. Derek's family was upset about this as well. They said that they could agree to the divorce, but the other party would need to return all the wedding gifts worth over 20 thousand dollars and the money used for the wedding. His wife's family was infuriated and said that Derek had lied in the first place, so how could he ask for the wedding gifts to be returned? Both sides had their own reasons and nearly got into a fight. They ended up in court and the lawsuit lasted for 2 months. In the end, the court asked Derek's wife's family to return 6 thousand in

"Laura, you're 28 years old this year. Who else except me would want to marry you? Can't you take a look at yourself? You should honored that I'm willing to marry you." Derek sat down on the sofa and began acting shamelessly. "It's your house, but what you're going to do if I refuse to leave? You can call the police, could the police force me to leave?""Say one more bad word about my family and I'll shut you up for the rest of your life." My oldest cousin, Jason, walked into the house and the other cousins followed. The living room immediately seemed cramped.Derek instantly became nervous and began to stutter."Laura, why... why did you bring so many people? Are you planning on beating me up? I'm telling you, it's illegal to use violence...""I would never hit a useless piece of garbage!" Jason rubbed his hands and said to my other cousins, "Let's get to work, guys. Throw all the rubbish out of the house!""Okay!" the rest shouted. My cousins immediately got to work. They remo

"That's right! I am being mean! That's my house. I'd rather take it apart and give it to someone else rather than give it to you!" I gave him a deadline. "Move out of my house by tomorrow night and pay for the damages caused. Otherwise, I'll see you in court!"The faces of Derek and the other two women all changed.I took the police officers to apartment No. 801 to take more photos as evidence.I hadn't been thorough before, but now that I looked at things in detail, the damages caused were way more severe than I had imagined. There were over 20 nail punctures on the living room walls and countless scratches. The sewage system was blocked and the dirty water was overfilling the toilets. The curtains of the living room and bedrooms had holes that were burnt by cigarettes. The kitchen window was smashed and there were countless cracks on the marble floors.I took out my phone and checked the price of repairs and replacements. It would cost at least 16 thousand dollars.I sent Derek

Half an hour later, a man appeared outside the police station. It had been more than two years, but I still immediately recognized Derek. He still hadn't changed and looked as if he was worn out all the time.Seeing that he had arrived, Shannon and the elder lady, which I had just found out was called, Linda, both rushed over in tears."Derek, you're finally here! We've been bullied! This lunatic insists that the wedding house you've bought belonged to her and showed us a ton of fake photos as proof. Quick, explain to the police that you were the one who bought the house.I sneered. "I thought you just said that the police and I were colluding and that we were swindlers. Now you're saying I'm a lunatic?""Shut up, you bitch!" Shannon shouted and then began sobbing in Derek's arms. "Honey, she not only wants to take our house, but she's also hit Mom as well. You can't let her off."I pulled a chair over and sat down.I would like to see what a thief was going to do.Derek pushe
