Jackson.

I dropped Laura carefully on the bed, her eyes were closed, but I knew she wasn’t sleeping; she immediately peeled them open as soon as her back hit the bed.

“Hi, how are you feeling now?” I asked, leaning above her.

She brought her hand down to her stomach before replying.

“I’m fine now.” I intend to pull back and go grab a drink or water for her.

Her hand instantly held mine, stopping me from leaving.

“Is the pain back?” I asked, but she shook her head. Then why did she stop me from leaving?

“Are…. Are you going back to the office?” She asked, softly.

I opened my mouth to answer, but she beat me to it.

“I know you have a lot going on, Jack, but can you….. can you just stay for the day. I want you by my side.” She politely requests it.

“You know what, forget that I asked, I will be fine on my own. You can leave now.” She said, avoiding my gaze.

I held her face gently, straightening it so she could look at me, my heart squeezed at the sight of tears in her eyes.

Nicole.I try my best not to think about the picture I saw on the news two days ago, it was about Laura and Jackson. The reporter who posted the picture made it known that Jackson and Laura were back together, and everyone should be expecting the wedding bells soon.I felt sick to my stomach seeing how many engagements the post got, and even sicker when I read through the comments. Everyone was vouching for them to get married already, and while going through those comments, it felt like I had been the obstacle between them ever since.I dropped my phone after reading too many comments, and they were getting to me. I remember getting a text from Jackson that same day requesting we meet.I had the thought of blocking his number after that, but changed my mind at the last minute; I didn’t do that because I would call him one of these days to tell him about our baby.“I can see your thoughts spinning round your head, Nicole,” Rowan said, and I snapped out of my thoughts. My cheeks flushe

Nicole. “Are you going to tell me where you’re going?” Mom asked again for what felt like the millionth time this morning.I received a text from Rowan saying William wanted to see me and that he had something to talk about. I didn’t ask what it was because I knew he wouldn’t tell me, and I needed to get out for some fresh air; I had been cooped up in this house for far too long.I didn’t answer her while I continued applying my makeup.“Oh, come on, Nikki,” she urged.“Fine, if you’re not going to tell me where you’re going, how about you tell me who this person is?” she asked again, looking curious like a child.“You’ll see when he gets here,” I replied, which made her smile even brighter.“A ‘he’! Tell me, Nikki, is this a date?” I rolled my eyes at her question. It’s not a date. I’m just going out with a guy and his nephew. Let's not forget how much I love his nephew; that doesn’t sound like a date, right? Besides, I’d rather focus on myself, my studies, and my baby.Yeah, you he

Jackson. It had been a week.A week of living in this house without Nicole in it. A week of watching my mother and sister drive her out of the house, a week of seeing her at the restaurant with that fucking man and a week of trying to call her, but to no avail.I have never felt so alone, empty, and lonely in my entire life. Ever since I saw her that night out with another man, I haven’t been the same; the part I never knew I had in me wanted her back. I wanted to drag her from his hold back to my house, this is the place she belongs. She is my wife, not his; she wasn’t supposed to be with another man, and not days after she gave me those papers. My mood has been very sour this week, one from not getting a call or text back from Nicole, and two I haven’t still heard from HT. I needed their money to help my company get back from the ground but there has not been a single mail.I let out a tired groan, running my hand through my hair.I have been staring at the workload on my table for

Nicole.I was downstairs fifteen minutes later, yeah, I took longer than I planned, and that’s because my body decided to use that time to become so lazy.I had to force myself downstairs before I would crash on the bed again.I followed the voices to know where the dining room was, and it took me just a few seconds to find it.Mom was sitting on the chair with an already served meal before her, but she wasn’t alone. A man was sitting at the head of the table; he was also eating, but they both paused when I stepped into the room.I looked at him and then at Mom, who started blushing so hard as soon as our gaze met. That was everything I needed to know that this man was someone special to Mom.“Nikki, come have your seat before dinner gets cold,” she said, standing up and helping me to the chair beside her.She made sure my plate was full with food before taking her seat. I stared at the heap of food and was ready to comment about it being too much, but then realized I wasn’t eating fo

Nicole. The car pulled up in front of a big building, no, it wasn’t just any building but a mansion, one that is bigger than Jackson’s house.I couldn’t help but leave my mouth wide open in shock as I stared at the mansion.A lot of questions were on my mind, but I couldn't find myself asking them. I was in shock to even realize the car had stopped moving.I know the car, the guards, and how she dressed should be the giveaway that she was doing well, but no, I didn’t want to believe that. I had thought the car and guards belonged to the company she’s working at, or something like that. But now, staring at this huge mansion, I know it was more than that.I wanted to know how she was able to get all this when dad didn’t give her anything, how she was able to acquire these things when I know very well she doesn’t have any family. Mom was an orphan.“Come on,” she grabbed my hand, pulling me out of my head.“Wait, what about my things?” I asked. We are supposed to take them inside, right?

Nicole.Mom didn’t let go of my hand even after saying that, and I didn’t want to let go either. It still feels unreal to be holding her hand when I have never thought I would hold her again and talk more, being this close to her.At least I can say my life isn’t all black and grey now, I have found something that brought a smile to my face. Seeing my mother again made me forget thinking about Jackson and his many problems.Speaking of Jackson and the divorce….“How did you know about Jackson and me separating?” I asked the one question that she used to grip my attention from the start.“I…..I saw that he wasn’t wearing his ring and he was with another woman, kissing her on her lips like he wasn’t married.” She said with a scowl on her face. What was she talking about? How and where did she meet Jackson? And how did she see Jackson without him knowing who she was?“You saw him with her?” I asked softly. My heart ached at the thought of Jackson with Laura, even after he hadn't signed.

Nicole. We stared at each other without saying anything since we stepped into my room. I noticed how she looked around the place with a scowl of disapproval before taking her seat on the bed.Since there wasn’t much space in the room, the bed was the only available space to sit on.“How have you been?” She asked, breaking the silence.I opened my mouth ready to answer, but then shut it.I don’t know how to answer that. So instead of saying something that would definitely hurt her and make me regret it later on, I decided to say the one word that came to my head.“I’m fine.” She stared skeptically at me like she didn’t believe my words.Again, the room went silent, my stomach felt queasy as we both tried hard not to look at each other. She said she wanted to talk, but why wasn’t she saying anything now that we’re in here? She should talk, tell me where she had been all this while. As much as I want to keep lying to myself that I don’t want anything to do with her, I want to know why sh

Laura.I stepped out of the car, taking my sunglasses from my eyes as I stared at the building before me. I walked into the building after locking my car and looking around to make sure no one had followed me.The door was closed, but after two repeated knocks, it was pulled open from the inside.“Laura,” I smiled as I walked into the building, without saying much. The door closed, and the clicking sound made me know it was locked.“How did it go?” She asked.“Before I can answer that I need a drink. A strong one.” She didn't say anything as she walked past me to her kitchen. I followed closely behind her, watching as she brought the bottle of Jameson and two glasses.I didn’t hesitate to open the bottle and pour the drink into our glasses. I picked up the glass and downed everything, wincing a bit when it burned down my chest.“Fuck! Just what I need,” I whispered as I turned another round and took a little sip from it.“So….. are you ready to speak now?” She asked, and I smiled, hea
