The week came as quickly as Adrian suggested it. Initially, he still pretended to love her. Getting her gifts, changing her phone, coming home early to eat dinner but after 3 days a version of Adrian she had never seen emerged. He didn't call or eat, he came back late and was always on call with Vanessa. He made it obvious and Seraphina accepted the fate of their once beautiful marriage before the week ended. Seraphina called Stephanie to get a suitable place for her to move in and Steph screamed from the phone

“Has he responded? Why're you getting a place now?”

“I know what he'll say. So I won't wait to get heartbroken” Seraphina said before landing a gut-retching cough “... I'll send the money now”

“Hmm…okay. I'll get a place that suits you”

“Thank you, Steph. I wonder what I'll do without you”

“Nothing, Sera. You'll do nothing without me.” Before Seraphina could respond, Stephanie hung up the call…leaving Seraphina with the echoes of her laughter. Stephanie helped her with sanity in this world that had gone mad and she was scared of going mad with it.

Friday came very fast and Sera hadn't laughed this hard in a while. “I want to end this marriage” Adrian said with his lungs full of air. Seraphina laughed so much tears started falling down her eyes..

“Give me a week!” She mimicked his voice and laughed harder then she walked up to him “I know you're not aware but if I sign those papers and you text me, I'll find you and end you and your miserable mistress”

He nodded “So be it, Seraphina” he said, looking down on her. His true colors had emerged. He didn't need to pretend anymore this was him, the man who pretended to love her until a week ago.

RING! RING! RING!

Her phone rang out, clearing the tension between them but when she looked at it, she laughed. It was Steph.

“Steph! Send the moving truck. He wants me out!” she laughed and before he could respond, she pointed a knife to him “DO. NOT. TEST. ME.” and he kept mute.

“I'll send him right now girl. You'll love this new place.” Steph said proudly. Stephanie has dedicated her entire life to making money. No time for men. She'd proudly brag about her organization and business but you'll never hear her speak about a man and now, it's all paying off.

Seraphina went up the stairs and came down with her already arranged items, everything before, during and after their marriage. Adrian stood in front of her and she spat at him “You better move.”

“You already planned to leave, didn't you?” Adrian said “When did you pack up?”

She laughed “When you didn't come home. I packed my stuff and cleared my mind off your bullshit.”

“But I could have given a different response”

“Get. Out. Now” she said slowly “or I swear I'll push you down the stairs” he moved and watched her go up and down the stairs carrying boxes and bags then he spoke

“Can I help?”

She turned to him, her eyes piercing like daggers “Help who? With what?” She continued moving.

“Let me help you Sera!” he shouted

“I’d rather die, Adrian!” She shouted even louder “I'd rather let myself be eaten by a lion while I'm still conscious!” He put his hands on his chest like some sort of actor but before he could speak she held his clothes by the collars

“Adrian. Cut this bullshit and stop pissing. Me. Off.” Then she let go and picked her boxes back. Her phone rang out from the couch and just knew who it was but before she could pick it up, her doors slammed open again.

“Where's the asshole!!!!” Stephanie ran in with a bat in her hand, making him hurry up the stairs and Seraphina laughing out loud.

“Ignore him, Steph. Let's leave” she said calmly “Tomorrow, I'll sign the paperwork and you can kill him if you want”

Stephanie has a devilish smile plastered on her face, her eyes glowing with something evil beneath “okay then” and they both walked out of the house as free women.

The separation hadn't hit Adrian until he got back from work expecting a meal. He did the usual walk into the house , then room, clean up and back down but there was no food while on the other hand, Seraphina had cooked a little too much for one person. A notification popped up on Adrian's phone, lighting up the entire room. It was Ness.

“If you need anything, don't hesitate to call.”

Adrian replied with a simple text: “ I need you.” And Ness came running. She didn't take 20 minutes to get there and she jumped on him for a hug but Adrian met her with a kiss. A long one, like they had both been starved of each other. She stayed in the kitchen to cook but all Adrian could see was his wife. After the meal was prepared and they sat to eat, he complemented her cooking with his regular lines.

“This tastes wonderful, Sera….” He said without thinking.

“Sera?” Vanessa gave him a look of disgust. He tried to explain himself but she stood up and walked out immediately.

“Vanessa! Please! I slipped! I'm sorry!” He begged but she didn't respond. She shut the door behind her and sat on the floor, hindering it from opening. He didn't stop begging until he fell asleep close to the door.

Vanessa walked out and saw him, tears fresh on his face. She woke him up gently “babe? Get up…let's go upstairs”

He nodded quickly and stood up, her hands in his while they walked up the stairs.

  • My Ex Husband Wants Me Back    CHAPTER 17: DELIVERY.

By morning, Seraphina looked terrible. She stood in front of the bathroom mirror and barely recognized herself. Her eyes were swollen and slightly red, dark circles sat beneath them and her hair looked like she had fought a hurricane and lost. She looked tired…not sleepy tired but exhausted in a way that settled deep inside the bones. She splashed cold water onto her face again. It didn't help…at this point, nothing helped. The words on the mirror kept replaying inside her head. ‘You looked behind you.’ Who the hell writes something like that? Who enters someone's bedroom twice and leaves without making a sound? Her hands gripped the edge of the sink…no. She couldn't stay in this house anymore…not today at least, maybe not ever. A knock sounded on the bathroom door. "Sera?" Stephanie's voice came through softly. "You alive in there?" Seraphina exhaled shakily. "Barely." The door opened slowly and Stephanie poked her head inside. She had changed into office clothes and was h

  • My Ex Husband Wants Me Back    TURN AROUND.

Seraphina stared at the note for so long that the words stopped looking real to her. She still waited for Stephanie but she was taking a long time. ‘Turn around.” Her fingers trembled violently around the paper as she read it again and again, hoping somehow the sentence would change itself if she looked hard enough but it didn't. Her heartbeat pounded against her ribs so loudly she could barely hear anything else and just like that, the room felt smaller while the darkness felt heavier. ‘Turn around.’ The stalker had been watching her. Not yesterday, not through a camera…not from outside the property but Inside…inside her bedroom. The realization settled into her stomach like weight she couldn't carry. "No..." she whispered weakly and it barely sounded like her. The flower lay forgotten on the floor beside her bed while her eyes remained locked on those words. She didn't want to turn around. Every horror movie she had ever watched suddenly felt very educational because whatever

  • My Ex Husband Wants Me Back    Chapter 15: Watching.

By the time morning arrived, Stephanie had officially had enough. Her eyes were still swollen and her head still hurts, but she made up her mind that she was done. "No. Absolutely not." She pointed dramatically at Seraphina from across the breakfast island she had made while holding a mug of coffee. "We're done pretending this is normal." And Seraphina blinked slowly, confused. "I wasn't pretending." "You slept with a baseball bat." "That was one time." "It was last night." Seraphina looked away and Stephanie slammed her coffee mug down before she continued. "Someone has photographs of you sleeping, Seraphina…sleeping. Inside your own house. This is no longer creepy, we've crossed into criminal." And unfortunately, she wasn't wrong. The image from the previous night remained burned into Seraphina's mind. Every time she closed her eyes, she saw it again. The angle, the couch…her silk robe. The fact that someone had been close enough to take it…close enough to watch her, clos

  • My Ex Husband Wants Me Back    HIS HOODIE

Seraphina stared at her phone but ignored the message for almost an hour because she just didn't want to look at it. She didn't want to see another photograph or another reminder that some stranger knew more about her life than they ever should or even she did. For a while, she simply sat on the floor surrounded by old photographs and years of memories she wished she could just throw away. Her eyes were swollen from crying and her head throbbed painfully from everything combined…even her chest hurt but then, her damn phone buzzed again. She stared at it from across, anger clinging onto her skin but she still refused to move even an inch because whatever was waiting inside that damn message couldn't possibly make her day better. If anything, it would probably make everything worse. Ten minutes passed, then twenty…then thirty and eventually, curiosity won. It always did and with a frustrated groan, Seraphina wiped her face aggressively and reached for the phone and the moment she

  • My Ex Husband Wants Me Back    Chapter 13 — Spiral

“I know there’s someone here…” Seraphina whispered weakly and Stephanie looked at her like she regretted every life decision that had brought her to this point. The room stayed painfully bright from all the lights they had left on through the entire night. Neither of them had bothered turning anything off after the photo incident and now the bedroom looked weird under the artificial glow. Stephanie sat beside her against the headboard with messy hair and sleepy eyes before pulling her sister into another tight hug.“Sera darling…” she muttered tiredly. “We actually need sleep before both of us start hallucinating...” but the moment Stephanie finished speaking, silence filled the room and Seraphina slowly looked down only to realize her sister had genuinely fallen asleep sitting upright against her shoulder and despite everything happening, a small laugh escaped her.“Unbelievable.” But Seraphina still couldn’t sleep, not even close. Every sound made her flinch now. The wind brushing a

  • My Ex Husband Wants Me Back    EMPTY HOUSE.

Adrian couldn't dwell on it because of work so he left and got back home a little past midnight. The penthouse was silent except for the faint hum of the city beyond the glass walls. Lights from skyscrapers poured into the dark space in streaks of silver and gold, stretching across the marble floors and luxury furniture that suddenly looked too still. Usually, Seraphina would be awake. Sometimes she’d pretend she wasn’t waiting for him by falling asleep dramatically on the couch downstairs with the television still running softly in the background. Other times, she’d be standing barefoot in the kitchen wearing one of those elegant dresses she loved so much while complaining about how late he was. “Mr. CEO,” she’d tease with that smile he could never ignore. “Should I schedule an appointment just to see my husband now?” and the memory seemed to hit him harder than expected. Adrian loosened his tie slowly as he stepped fully inside the penthouse, exhaustion weighing heavily against h

  • My Ex Husband Wants Me Back    A NIGHT OUT.

The sun hit differently the moment Seraphina stepped out of the building, not warm or comforting, just hot. Like it burnt just her. She paused beside her car, her fingers tightening around her keys and for a moment, she thought through her life choices. For a moment, she just stood there, breathing

On the other hand, Seraphina was going through hell with her unknown stalker. Calls and texts rushed in more than ever. She'd answer, scream at them, they'll stay silent until she hangs up. At some point, she turned off her phone. She walked around her new house and checked it out. It was beautiful

The meeting ended shortly and she picked up her bags to leave the office. Before she stepped out of the building, she stopped by the secretary to warn her. “If that lady comes in here again and you don't call security to lock her up, you'll lose your job. Got it?The secretary nodded like her life

  • My Ex Husband Wants Me Back    The Other Woman.

Seraphina's mind raced, her heart pounded and her breath hitched. She didn't know why she felt so much fear rather than just responding to him and he noticed. He rushed down the stairs and held her “what's going on with you?” Worry, painting his face. Seraphina had started lookingpale, compared t
