Angela.

“Why the hell are you screaming?” I asked, irritated.

Richard didn’t even look up from his laptop. His hair was messy, and a half-empty bottle of whiskey sat right next to his elbow. He looked ten years older than the man I had stolen from Gemma.

“That bitch Gemma just called me asking stupid questions!” he snarled, rubbing his red, bloodshot eyes.

The moment her name left his mouth, a spike of pure rage hit my chest. I didn't even wait for him to finish his complaint.

“Gemma? Again?” I

Gemma.Gigi and I stared at the shattered bracelet, neither of us saying a word. The lady quickly kicked the broken pieces under a nearby sewer grate before looking up at us. Her eyes filled with panic."We can't talk here," I said. "Let's go to the restaurant."She hesitated, looking down the street left and right before silently following Gigi and me through the glass doors of the restaurant. We sat down at a quiet corner table in the back, far away from the other diners and the main entrance.Up close in the light of the restaurant, I could finally see her face. She pulled off her dark sunglasses and loosened her scarf, revealing her blonde hair and high cheekbones. She looked to be in her late twenties, but the heavy dark circles under her eyes made her look exhausted, like someone who hadn't slept in weeks."My name is Katia," she said quietly, barely looking either of us in the eye. She clearly didn't trust us."Katia," I repeated softly. "What was that on the pavement? Why was

Gemma."Yes. I feel like I'm being watched.""You need to calm down and tell Julian," Gigi said, as the spa attendant finished setting two steaming cups of herbal tea on the small wooden table between our lounge chairs."If I tell him, he will never let me go home, Gigi," I whispered, resting my head back against the cushioned seat. "You have no idea how hard I had to fight just to convince him to let me go back to my penthouse. He wanted me to stay at his penthouse forever. I just needed my own space.""Okay, aside from all that... where is the bracelet?" Gigi asked, leaning closer as she adjusted the white towel wrapped around her hair."It's in my bag," I said. "When we leave, I'll show it to you. I just couldn't bring it inside."Gigi let out a soft sigh, her eyes scanning my face with deep concern. It was the weekend, and we had booked an afternoon at this quiet spa to unwind from the chaotic week. Around us, gentle music played through hidden speakers, and soft candlelight flick

Gemma.I stood on the busy sidewalk, watching the crowd where the woman in the headscarf had just disappeared. My heart was still beating fast from the sudden crash. Why was she running so fast? Why was she hiding her face like that? It didn't make any sense. I tucked my bag under my arm and walked into my new restaurant space.I locked the glass doors behind me, stepped into the big, empty room, and took a deep breath, trying to clear my head. I grabbed my tape and clipboard from the floor and walked toward the back area to measure the kitchen layout. For almost an hour, I focused entirely on my work, writing down numbers and drawing small sketches on my pad. It felt good to concentrate on my dream.Suddenly, my phone chimed on the counter.I set my tape down to pick up my phone. A new email notification popped up with a fancy gold border.“You are cordially invited to the wedding celebration of Angela and Richard.”For like ten seconds I stared at my screen, letting out a dry laugh

Gemma."Try typing it in now," Julian said, stepping back from the digital keypad beside his front door.I looked at the glass panel, then up at him. "What did you change it to?""October 14th," he replied. "1014. Your birthday."A small smile touched my lips, but I shook my head as I tapped the digits into the lock. The pad beeped green, and the heavy lock clicked open smoothly."So, should I expect Chloe to guess my birthday next time she decides to drop in?" I joked, leaning against the doorframe and crossing my arms. "Because I really don't need a round two of her marking her territory over breakfast."Julian let out a short breath, rubbing the back of his neck. For a man who ran a multi-billion-dollar empire without flinching, he actually looked a little sheepish."She had the old code because our families have been close for years," he explained, closing the gap between us. "I always saw her like a younger sister, Gemma. I knew she had a crush on me, but I never gave her a reaso

  • My Ex-Husband’s Billionaire Boss Wants Me.   Stolen Quiet

Gemma.I opened my eyes and the soft morning sunlight streamed through the curtains. I sat up on the edge of the bed and stood up. My legs felt shaky on the floor. All of a sudden, my head spun and everything went sideways. I put my hand against the wall and froze, waiting for the dizziness to go away. Not today, I thought, taking a slow breath. Julian couldn't see me like this. After a few seconds, the feeling passed. I felt much better.I walked over to the armchair where Julian had left some fresh clothes for me, a pair of sweatpants and his oversized black hoodie. I put them on. It was way too big for me, the sleeves hanging far past my wrists. It smelled just like him, warm and comforting.Rolled the sleeves up to my wrists and walked out of the bedroom. The penthouse was quiet, but as I walked down the hall, I heard the clanking of metal coming from the glass gym at the end of the corridor. I opened the door quietly and leaned against the frame.Julian was working out, doing pu

Julian."It's Joe," I said.Gemma’s eyes went wide. I could tell she remembered him immediately, the guy from her culinary school who had tried to bully her, the one I personally canceled to put him in his place."Joe?" She gasped, her voice shaking. "He thinks he can spray-paint my car to get back at me," I said, my jaw clenching tight. "He’s wrong."Before I could respond, the doorbell rang."I called Gigi," I told her softly. "She's staying with you."Gigi burst into the room a second later, running straight to the couch."Gemma!" Gigi cried out, throwing her arms around Gemma's neck. "Oh my god, are you okay? I was so scared!"Gemma buried her face in Gigi's shoulder, her small frame trembling as she held onto her friend.I stood by the door, watching them. My eyes stayed locked on Gemma. She was white, with dark circles under her eyes, and she looked completely drained. Something wasn't right.Deal with Joe first, I told myself, turning toward the door. Then figure out what Gemma
