Caroline's pov

“Peter, that’s not true!” I shouted, my voice cracking as I tried to pull my arm free from his iron grip. “I buried our son with my own hands. Call the hospital or something. I was the only one standing in the rain that day while you were busy playing hero for Cerene. How dare you call me a liar after everything you’ve put me through?”

Peter’s eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched so tight I could see the muscle twitching.

He glanced down at the papers I’d shoved into his hands mome

  • My Ex Husband's Greatest Regret    Chapter 7

Caroline's pov “Peter, that’s not true!” I shouted, my voice cracking as I tried to pull my arm free from his iron grip. “I buried our son with my own hands. Call the hospital or something. I was the only one standing in the rain that day while you were busy playing hero for Cerene. How dare you call me a liar after everything you’ve put me through?” Peter’s eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched so tight I could see the muscle twitching. He glanced down at the papers I’d shoved into his hands moments earlier, then back up at me, breathing hard like he was fighting to keep control. “You are a very good actor Caroline...I admire your skills. You deserve an Oscar.“ He seethed, his nose flaring.Cerene pout her lip and hovered just behind him with one hand clutching his sleeve while the other wiped at her eyes in that practiced way that always made people feel sorry for her.She wasn't even trying to hide her clinginess and behaviour. it made me so sick.I glared at her in disbelief. • My Ex Husband's Greatest Regret    CHAPTER 6

Caroline “Then why does being your wife feel like the worst punishment of my life?” I choked out, my voice trembling with raw agony. Peter’s mouth opened, but I couldn’t hold back anymore. The words burst from me like a dam finally breaking. “Why, Peter? Why do you care more about Cerene than me....your own wife? I carried our child for months. I screamed through labor while you demanded they rip my bone marrow out for her. I buried our son alone in the pouring rain, and you still chose her every single time! Why is she always more important? Tell me the truth for once in your life!” For a heartbeat, Peter’s eyes flickered with something real ...concern, guilt, maybe even regret. His grip on me softened, and I saw the man I once loved flicker behind the anger. My heart clenched painfully. Was he finally listening? But the moment shattered. Hurried footsteps echoed down the hallway. Cerene appeared, looking pale and delicate in her flowing birthday dress, tears already glis

  • My Ex Husband's Greatest Regret    CHAPTER 5

Caroline “Peter, what the hell are you doing?!” My scream cut through the garden as Peter’s fist connected with Alex’s jaw in a brutal crack. Alex staggered back, blood already staining his lip, while guests gasped and Cerene let out a pitiful whimper, clutching her chest dramatically. I tried to reach for Alex, but Peter was faster. His hand clamped around my arm like a vice, dragging me away from the lights and music of Cerene’s birthday party into the dimly lit side hallway of the venue. “Peter, stop! You’re hurting me!” I gasped, my voice shaking as I struggled against his grip. The old pain from labor and the bone marrow extraction flared up with every step, but it was nothing compared to the fresh agony twisting in my chest. He didn’t say a word until we were alone. Then he spun me around and pinned me against the cool wall, his body pressing close, trapping me completely. His breath was hot on my face, eyes blazing with fury and something darker, more desperate. The

  • My Ex Husband's Greatest Regret    Chapter 4

Caroline's pov I dressed with trembling hands, choosing the only simple but elegant black dress that remained intact in my closet. I suspected Cerene had shredded the others...her jasmine perfume still lingered faintly in the air. She couldn't even try to cover her tracks. I called for the driver Peter occasionally allowed me to use and left the house, my heart heavy with the weight of betrayal. The city lights blurred past as the car moved through the evening streets. I stared out the window, replaying Peter’s cruel words. I tucked the baby's death certificate closely, tucked in my purse. If I had to make an entrance, had to give them a gift as well.... Suddenly, the driver slowed down. “Ma’am, there’s a car ahead. It looks like an accident. Should we stop?” I leaned forward, my instincts kicking in. “Yes, stop the car. We have to check.” The scene was devastating. A black vehicle had veered off the road. The driver, a middle-aged man, was slumped unconscious over the steeri

  • My Ex Husband's Greatest Regret    Chapter 3

Caroline's pov Days had passed since that nightmare in the hallway, but the pain still felt fresh. I stood alone in the pouring rain at the small private cemetery, clutching a tiny bouquet of white flowers. Peter didn't even get to hold the baby, he took one quick look and wheeled me back to my ward. That day hurt more than ever. The ground was soft and muddy beneath my feet as I stared at the little grave that held my son. No one else was there. Not even my own parents or my in-laws. Just me and the rain that mixed with the tears streaming down my face. I knelt slowly, my body still aching from the birth and the brutal bone marrow extraction, and gently placed the flowers on the fresh soil. “I’m so sorry, my sweet boy,” I whispered, my voice breaking. “Your father didn’t even come to say goodbye. He chose her again… even for this.” My shoulders shook with silent sobs as I traced my fingers over the small headstone. “I wanted you so much. I fought for you. I love you.” I stayed

  • My Ex Husband's Greatest Regret    Chapter 2

Caroline's pov The doctors had finally received the signature they needed… not from me, but forced through Peter’s influence. No one dared object. His power in this town, his family’s strong connections, and his cold determination had silenced every protest. I had begged them, my voice hoarse from screaming through the pain. “Please… don’t do this,” I had pleaded earlier, tears streaming down my face as they prepared me for the bone marrow extraction. “I just gave birth… my body can’t take it. Think of my baby!” But the head doctor had only glanced nervously at Peter, who stood there with his arms crossed, his expression showing no concern for me. “It’s for Cerene. She needs it now. Proceed.” No one spoke for me. Just like always. My life wasn’t considered. This was my life. The procedure was agonizing. I felt every painful pull as they extracted the marrow from my hip, my screams echoing off the walls. “It hurts! Oh God, it hurts so much! Why are you doing this to me? I’m your
