Seven-Him Again?

After Kate White finished her speech, she got down from the podium, Lucas grasp his hands together and pace on his spot. “She’s Elena right?” He asked, looking at Tara.

Tara faked a smile, “I don’t think so. Elena is dead, isn’t she?” Tara simply said, hoping Lucas would stop mentioning her name.

“What if she survived the plane crash? What if she was rescued? Anything can happen Tara, I believe she was rescued…I need to speak-”

Tara was already getting pissed up by Lucas sudden behavior, “Stop it Lucas! Get yourself together! She might not be Elena! No one can survive a fatal plane crash!” Tara snapped almost diverting the attention of the other guests that came to the exhibition.

Lucas dipped his fingers into his hair in frustration, he licked his lower lips, “Still, I need to speak to her. I need to confirm her identity,” With that Lucas went to meet Kate, she was just returning from the restroom.

Tara was behind Lucas, her heart beating louder than a parade drums. Her palm was already sweaty hoping the lady called Kate White isn’t Elena.

“Elena,” Lucas called straight up, looking into the eyes of the woman standing at his front, there’s no doubt that she looked like Elena.

Kate White looked around searching for the ‘Elena’ Lucas just called, “Who are you?” Kate asked, while Lucas narrowed his eyes.

If she was Elena as he thought, she wouldn’t be asking that question.

“You’re…you’re Elena right?” Lucas asked, his eyes searching into the eyes of Kate White.

Kate White looked at Lucas for a while then sigh, “I guess you don’t hear my name earlier, My name is Kate White. Who are you?” She snapped keeping a close eye contact with him.

That baffled Lucas, Elena wouldn’t dare to look at him in the eye. Elena was the shy, timid and not different from a mute.

Lucas wasn’t convinced enough, he grabbed Kate hand and said, “It’s me Lucas Rhodes…your husband. Perhaps, you lost your memories?” Lucas blurted out.

Kate flung his hands away. “what gives you the right to touch me like that? Would you like to be sued for harassment?” Kate yelped out.

She suddenly scoffed, “Husband you say? Aren’t you going too far now? First, you called me a name I don’t know and now you’re my husband? Are you that desperate to go to jail?” Kate snapped.

Tara hurried foward after hearing that “I’m sorry ma’am. He made a mistake…his memories are rather foggy,” Tara said softly, slipping her arm through Lucas’s.

Kate rolled her eyes, “And you’re..?”

Tara lifted her chin as though she was about to announce a decree. “His fiancée,” she waved her finger at Kate, visibly showing her ring.

Kate let out a weary sigh, “Please take your fiancé away from here, I’m getting uncomfortable. Excuse me,” She walked away without getting a reply.

Tara was so pissed, she looked at Lucas with an obvious stare, “I told you, didn’t I? She’s not Elena! Look at how you almost made me feel like a puppet to her!” Tara snapped.

Lucas rubbed at his temple, “I’m sorry,”

Tara started shedding tears, her voice breaking. “Did you even love me? Lucas…it’s been 5years since that lady died! Why aren’t you over her yet?”

Guilt crept into Lucas head, he let out a guilt sigh pulling Tara into a warm hug. “I’m sorry for breaking your heart..I let my emotions got best out of me…it won’t happen again,” Lucas whispered to her.

Tara smirked, ‘This tears works all the time. Elena is gone for good!’ She thought in her head, adding a weird smile.

Kate was just heading out of the exhibition when a car alighted at her front, “Hey! You came out a little bit late,” A man in his mid thirties came down from the car andopened the door for her.

She forced a smile and got in and shortly after, they were already on there way back to her house. “Thanks for picking me up, Joan,” She mumbled looking out through the window.

“What are friends for.. I had to do it.”

Kate smiled then closed her eyes letting the breeze go into her head.

“Are you sure you want to live in this city…with him around?” Joan suddenly asked glancing at Kate whose eyes were still shut.

“He’s all in the past now.” Kate simply replied him.

“I’m afraid he might notice you as his ex-wife..?” He added, his voice laced with nothing but worry.

“Drop it Joan. Lucas is out of my life now, he’s nothing to me,”Kate said then her eyes opened, she glanced at Joan.

“If it wasn’t for you who saved me from getting on the plane, I would have been dead by now. You saved me and I should focus on living this life well rather than thinking about an Ex.”

Joan didn’t press it further but deep down, he knows she wasn’t okay.

‘Be fine,” Joan thought to himself looking at her.

“Please drop me at any bar nearby,” She requested. Joan knew what was coming next, getting drunk.

“Are you going to drink again? Elena—“

“Don’t call me that name again. It’s Kate now.” Kate’s eyes flashed with anger, her voice so stern.

Joan sighed, “I’m sorry.”

Joan stopped at a nearby bar, Kate got down and Joan followed. “Why are you following me? I want to be alone,” Kate said.

“I’m afraid you might get hurt, I-”

Kate scoffed, walking into the bar as her heels clicked the floor majestically, “Someone might think you’re my boyfriend…tsk,” she was saying when her eyes saw someone.

“What if I become that to you—”

“You again?” Kate called cutting Joan off while she stare at Lucas standing in her front…with Tara beside him, as usual.
