“Dad, I want you to call off Juliette and Tristan’s wedding plans.”

Henry’s hand froze mid-motion. He stared at his daughter in confusion.

“Why?” he asked, clearly puzzled. “Did something happen?”

“I just want you to call off the wedding.”

“We’ve already agreed to their marriage, Ana. Mrs. Westwood has even prepared the engagement documents.”

“Call it off. Ask her to replace the bride.”

“What do you mean?”

“Let Juliette go. Let me marry Tristan instead,” Anastasia said in a calm but unwavering voice.

This time, I won’t beg or fight to marry Andrew. If he wants to end our engagement, so be it. I won’t make the same mistake twice.

“Don’t you love Andrew?” Henry stared at his daughter in shock.

For years, Anastasia had gone to great lengths to win Andrew’s heart. Seeing her so readily volunteer to switch brides left Henry wondering if he had heard her correctly.

“I love him, but he doesn’t love me. He loves Juliette.”

“Sweetheart, you…”

“I don’t want to be with him anymore, Dad.”

“But Tristan…”

“I know. And I’m certain he won’t hurt me,” Anastasia replied confidently. “I also don’t want to damage your reputation, Dad. If you force Juliette to marry Tristan, people will think you’re treating your stepdaughter unfairly. Juliette has only recently become a widow, and people out there still pity her. If you force her to marry Tristan, who now has special needs, they’ll think you’re throwing her away.”

“That’s not true! They simply don’t know everything I’ve done for her. I care about Juliette. How could I ever mistreat her? Barbara has already agreed to this, and so has Juliette.”

Anastasia knew that was true.

Her father treated Juliette, who wasn’t even his biological daughter, like his own child.

Whatever Anastasia had, Juliette had to have as well.

Henry had never treated the two girls differently.

Anastasia also knew that Juliette was only pretending to agree to the marriage. In reality, she was playing with Andrew’s feelings simply to test Anastasia’s patience. But this time, Anastasia would not fall into the same trap.

“Barbara may have agreed because she couldn’t bring herself to refuse you, Dad,” Anastasia began, carefully playing her part. “She knows you mean well and doesn’t want to damage your relationship with her, so she simply agrees to whatever you suggest.”

Henry fell silent, a trace of doubt crossing his face.

“I just want to resolve this problem, Dad. Andrew loves Juliette, and Juliette loves him too. I’m willing to let them be happy together. I know my place. Even if I married Andrew, there’s no guarantee I would ever be happy with him.”

Henry rose from his desk and walked over to Anastasia before pulling her into a tight embrace.

“My God, you’ve finally grown up, sweetheart,” he said, gently stroking her head. “I’ve wanted to hear you say that for so long. Happiness doesn’t come from someone else. It comes from within ourselves. You’ve made the right choice. You shouldn’t keep chasing after Andrew. Open your eyes. There are plenty of good men out there who will appreciate you and love you for who you are.”

“I know. And this time, I’m choosing Tristan to be my husband,” Anastasia said firmly. “Given his current condition, isn’t he perhaps the most sincere man there is?”

Henry was silent for a moment before finally nodding slowly.

“Are you truly certain about this decision?” he asked, making sure she was serious.

Anastasia nodded resolutely. “I am. But I want this bride swap to remain a secret.”

Henry frowned briefly, but then nodded in agreement.

“All right. I’ll contact Judith and arrange everything.” Henry turned and headed back toward his desk.

“Dad,” Anastasia called calmly.

Henry stopped and turned around. “What is it, sweetheart?”

“I want my wedding to Tristan to take place on the same day as Juliette and Andrew’s wedding.”

Henry smiled before nodding in agreement.[]

“This is the most beautiful gift I’ve ever received in my entire life.”Juliette stood before Anastasia in the luxurious wedding gown that Anastasia had originally chosen for her own wedding to Andrew, complete with matching jewelry.Meanwhile, Anastasia had been forced to wear the simple wedding dress Juliette had chosen for her.Of course, Juliette had done it deliberately.During yesterday’s wedding dress fitting—which Andrew had, naturally, accompanied her to—Juliette had deliberately chosen the simplest, most outdated, and cheapest-looking dress for herself, supposedly for Anastasia to wear. Her excuse was that she would be having a private wedding with Tristan, a man with special needs. But the real reason was that she wanted to humiliate and belittle Anastasia in front of the Westwood family. What Juliette didn’t know was that Anastasia would be changing into another dress—a far more luxurious and expensive couture gown specially prepared for her by Judith Westwood. At Anastasi

“So you failed to convince your father to call off Juliette’s wedding?! My mother said Tristan’s wedding has been moved up, and they’re getting married on the same day as us!”Andrew stormed into Anastasia’s office, his face twisted with anger.Anastasia, who had been focused on her work behind her desk, looked up and pretended to be startled. So the news about the wedding has already been announced, but the bride and groom are still being kept secret? Thank you, Dad. Thank you, Judith, Anastasia thought happily. She hid her satisfied smile, replaced it with a fragile expression, and rose to approach Andrew. She still had to play the role of the helpless woman as convincingly as possible. Otherwise, Andrew might ruin her plans with Tristan.“I’m sorry, Andrew… I did everything I could, but Dad said this was the best decision for Juliette. Besides, Juliette will be safe if she marries Tristan in his current condition. Your uncle would never hurt her.”“Which part of this do you call sa

“I’ve heard the news. Is it true that you’re taking my place and marrying that idiot?”Juliette barged into Anastasia’s room without permission, bombarding her with questions.Anastasia, who was sitting by the window, merely glanced at her without answering. Irritated by her silence, Juliette stepped closer.“Why did you do it? Don’t you love Andrew?”Anastasia lifted her head and briefly glanced at her stepsister before turning her gaze back toward the window.“Isn’t this what you wanted? I’m willingly giving him to you, so why are you still questioning my reasons?”Juliette laughed. “I don’t believe you. Are you playing some kind of game with me?”“Ask Judith if you don’t believe me. She should be handling our marriage documents by now.”“Then what about Andrew? Why didn’t you tell him?”“Didn’t he say he would call off our engagement if I failed to convince Dad to cancel your arrangement with Tristan? I’m simply avoiding the humiliation of being publicly rejected.”“Everyone knows

“Ana, have you heard? Your father is arranging for Juliette to marry that idiot, Tristan!”“Watch your mouth, Andrew. Tristan is your uncle,” Anastasia said coldly.“Help me convince your father to call off the engagement!”Andrew grabbed Anastasia’s arm tightly—not merely holding it, but squeezing hard enough to make it hurt.Anastasia remembered this moment vividly from her previous life. She also knew exactly what Juliette was going to say next.“Enough, Andrew. Don’t act like this,” Juliette cut in, gently placing a hand over Andrew’s.Her touch looked almost flirtatious rather than an attempt to loosen his grip.“Anastasia would never be able to convince Daddy to call off this arrangement. She doesn’t even want me back,” she said, resting her forehead against Andrew’s shoulder and pretending to sob.Anastasia gave a cold, mocking smile before yanking her arm free, forcing Andrew’s grip to release.“You should feel lucky that Judith chose you to marry Tristan,” Anastasia said calm

“Andrew, help me…” Anastasia reached out, desperately trying to grasp her husband’s hand, but Andrew merely stood there, staring at her with vacant eyes. “Andrew, the baby… please…”Pain radiated through Anastasia’s entire body, but the agony in her abdomen was the worst. Her legs felt cold and wet from the blood that continued to flow uncontrollably. She couldn’t move. And the man she was begging for help—her own husband—could do nothing but stare at her with an unfocused gaze.Andrew was heavily intoxicated and completely out of his mind.“Andrew… I’m going to die…” Anastasia whispered, hoping those words would finally snap him out of it.But once again, Andrew remained motionless.“Die?” Andrew’s hoarse voice finally broke the silence. His eyes suddenly fixed on Anastasia with a wild, almost feverish intensity—first on her swollen belly, then on the pool of blood spreading across the floor.“Does that mean you’ll get to see Juliette?” he asked hopefully.Juliette? Why was he talkin
