Dominic.

Six Months Later,

The loud music blasting from the speakers made everything in the bar tremble lightly and was definitely capable of giving everyone a terrible migraine after the party was over but I remained seated at my private spot, a secluded place away from all the madness.

I was now on my second vodka bottle.

“Cheer up man!” David yelled into my ear as he threw a hand across my shoulder and pulled me closer to him, “look around you, beautiful women are at every corner of this bar and you choose to sit here and drink all by yourself like a depressed old man.”

David was a childhood friend that was a chronic womanizer and alcoholic. He enjoyed the company of different women and they also enjoyed his so he was always the one in charge of organizing parties and bar events.

“There is absolutely nothing you can say to him that’s going to make him stop being moody, I have tried everything but he is still like that.” Ted suddenly spoke up as he walked over to join us.

I groaned, annoyed by their constant pestering and the fact that the quiet little spot I had found at the bar was no longer mine.

Ted was also a close friend and he had teamed up with David to bring me out to the party. According to them, it would do me some good but two hours into the party and I still wasn’t feeling any better, in-fact, I felt worse.

It’s been six months since Bella drove out of the house in a taxi and not even once had she called or tried to reach out to anyone, including me.

I had no idea when I started looking into her, trying to find any detail on where she could be but nothing came up and no matter how hard I tried, I always met a dead end.

It was so frustrating!

“Can’t believe you’re like this because your ex-wife walked out on you,” David mumbled as he staggered around, clearly drunk because the strong smell of alcohol had clung onto him.

“Nooo, he is like this because he can’t find her,” Ted chipped in, leaning closer to me, “but look on the bright side buddy, she might be unreachable now but I am sure since we haven’t heard anything then she must be doing just fine.” He added and for some reason, that statement irritated me.

I tore their hands away from my body,

“Can I be alone, please just…”

Soft music suddenly started playing and before anyone could figure out what was going on, a beautiful voice was now echoing in the bar.

Someone was singing on stage and she looked so ethereal in her dress.

David whistled excitedly as he hurried over to get a better view of her,

“Who is this beauty?”

“You don’t know her?” Ted asked David, surprised that there was a woman on earth and at his party that Ted wasn’t familiar with.

“I don’t think so… not sure if I’ve seen her before. There is no way I would meet someone like her and not recognize her.”

I followed after them as they made their way forward, closer to the stage because there was something about her voice that was both soothing and familiar.

“She must be a celebrity singer.” I overheard one of the guests at the bar whisper as everyone looked on with a captivated expression on their faces.

Who was she?

Suddenly, I bumped into David and Ted, they had both abruptly stopped walking and were staring up at the stage with some sort of expression on their faces.

“What’s w-“

The words barely made it past my lips when my eyes rested on her.

Bella.

She was almost not recognizable but there was no mistaking her face. She still had the same features but they now stood out so boldly that she looked so much more beautiful than she ever had.

But it was impossible, it must be a trick of the light because how could the same woman I had been searching for, for the past six months without any progress suddenly turn up singing at this bar?

I lost count of how many times I blinked, hoping the illusion would fade away but it didn’t.

It was really Bella.

I had never really pictured seeing her again so I had no idea how I was going to react, but I definitely wasn’t expecting the feeling that took over me.

Her eyes were closed and even though I had been married to her for three good years, I had no idea she could sing that well.

“Is it just me or does she look like Bella?” David spun around in his drunken state to ask and he kept going back and forth with Ted about if they were mistaken or not.

Their voices faded into the background and my eyes remained fixed on her.

She was so different, different from the woman I had known. I could sense the change, not just in her appearance but in the way she carried herself on that stage, the confidence that she exuded and the feminine energy she now possessed.

It was a new side of Bella I never knew existed and I was captivated by it, just like everyone else present at the bar.

As soon as the music stopped playing and the room erupted with a loud applause from the crowd, she got off the stage and began to walk away.

I followed after her immediately and managed to get close enough to grab her arm and pull her back.

She spun around and my breath got caught in my throat when her piercing green eyes met with mine.

“It’s really you.” I whispered.

There was this rush of excitement mixed with anger that seized me at that very moment, I was both happy yet angry to see her again.

“You walk out of my house and disappear into fucking space? Because where the hell have you been for the past six months?”

DominicThe drive to Notting Hill was rather solemn. I was alone with no one to talk to and not in the mood for music. The road grew longer than I remembered with every turn I took. I thought about calling Bella just to hear her voice because I did not know how long it would be before I heard it again. However, we could not risk anything that would sabotage the plan.We had concluded that Vivian was definitely watching us. She’d even had someone in the café recording us. An account which my men were currently tracing had already uploaded the video with a lot of slander pointed at Bella. Which was odd because it clearly looked like I was the bad person, cheating on my woman. But the user had made it look like Bella was the side piece who’d just learned her true position. I had not been around to see Bella’s reaction but I hoped she was okay.“Focus, Dominic!” I cursed myself. If I could not put my mind away from her for even a second, how did I want to cope for the number of days it wo

DominicI glanced at my wrist watch for the third time in ten minutes. It was over thirty minutes now since I got to the restaurant and Audrey was a no-show. Had she stood me up? How could I get stood up by a friend on a platonic date? Ugh. Or had Bella turned her against me too? I know she was not expecting that Audrey would back me up and frankly, neither was I. But it had been very helpful. To try to prove to Bella that I was not insane. Better her friend than anyone else.Giving up at last, I waved to the waiter who had come up to my table several times to ask if I was ready to order. It was out of respect they had let me even stay this long without ordering. They must recognize that I was a capable man financially else they would have booted me since. By now, the café was half-filled as customers strolled in and out. I surveyed the faces and all seemed strange. One could never be too sure with an enemy like Vivian.I was out in the open here and anyone of these people could be po

BellaThe hospital did not have many hiding places but I do not think I really wanted to hide. I just wanted to get as far away as possible from whatever plan Audrey and Dominic had cooking. They thought it was okay to play into Vivian’s hands. They thought it was okay that I got to lose my lover another time because of the same person. I did not care whether it was a ploy this time around, it still felt like Vivian was winning all over again. The first little room I found to hide was a box room but it looked like I was not the only one looking for some quiet. I found a female nurse having a smoke behind one of the stacked boxes and instead of looking sheepish at having been caught, she offered me a drag. I was appalled. How did someone like that land a job in healthcare? I was just going to check to make sure she didn’t handle anything Ted-related. I had taken note of her face. The little incidence ruined box rooms for me so instead of having a go at another, I just found my way to t

DominicThe plan was simple. I was going to make Vivian believe her little plan had worked. Her plan to drive a rift between myself and Bella. I wanted to know what her plan was if that had succeeded. Perhaps getting close to her which was what she wanted in that manner would be the key to finally solving this case. When I told Bella, she was not quite as compliant as I thought. As she had said she would be“What do you mean you’re going to live with her?” Bella huffed. We had gone back to the hospital now to check on Ted. The doctors said that he was very much improved now and should wake up on his own soon. I could not wait for that to happen. Ted was the key to this locked door which we now stood in front of but until he opened his eyes, we could not open the door. Still, it did not mean we had to do nothing. There was so much time wasting and the longer we waited, the more chances we gave Vivian and her cohorts to cover up their tracks.I explained this to Bella still the idea did

Dominic“Okay, this is where you need to activate your acting skills,” I told Davina through the intercom. “He’s gotten really suspicious. Okay, I believe you now. Find a way to get that recording and get out of there now.”“Oh goodness. This is what the doctor keeps telling me about staying off my meds.” I heard Davina say. She gushed, sputtering for the words to convince the accounts officer that she was not a fraud. “I knew that I had made the transaction. You know I was telling my daughter but she just did not believe me. Do you think I could maybe get that recording and play it for her? She would not believe me if I told her that I’d already made the transaction.”Johnny Lockland was no fool but he had to believe the words coming from Davina’s mouth. Even I did. Just then, my phone rang and when I swiped it out of my pocket, I saw that it was Bella. She had followed my men back to the hotel where Olive and James were being watched over. The little girl had already built some sor

DavinaI shook my head as everything started to make sense to me now. Vivian’s willingness to help me escape my cheating, abusive husband had all been a ploy for her to use me. I should have known but at the same time, I did not know she had been planning anything concerning her ex Dominic. I was just as surprised at the question as he must have been at my “involvement.”“The last time I saw Vivian was at a fundraiser event my husband organized with his company. I had invited Vivian because it was the only way I could get to see her for us to talk,” I started explaining. Dominic did not look like he had come here to play so, I had to exonerate myself from this situation as quickly as possible.“Ian had gotten worse and I knew that I had to leave or he would take the kids away from me. So, I approached Vivian for help. This bunker is hers actually and she agreed to give it to me. I’ve been hiding here since then. She told me not to contact anyone, including her. The less people that kn
