Dominic.

Six Months Later,

The loud music blasting from the speakers made everything in the bar tremble lightly and was definitely capable of giving everyone a terrible migraine after the party was over but I remained seated at my private spot, a secluded place away from all the madness.

I was now on my second vodka bottle.

“Cheer up man!” David yelled into my ear as he threw a hand across my shoulder and pulled me closer to him, “look around you, beautiful women are at every corner of this bar and you choose to sit here and drink all by yourself like a depressed old man.”

David was a childhood friend that was a chronic womanizer and alcoholic. He enjoyed the company of different women and they also enjoyed his so he was always the one in charge of organizing parties and bar events.

“There is absolutely nothing you can say to him that’s going to make him stop being moody, I have tried everything but he is still like that.” Ted suddenly spoke up as he walked over to join us.

I groaned, annoyed by their constant pestering and the fact that the quiet little spot I had found at the bar was no longer mine.

Ted was also a close friend and he had teamed up with David to bring me out to the party. According to them, it would do me some good but two hours into the party and I still wasn’t feeling any better, in-fact, I felt worse.

It’s been six months since Bella drove out of the house in a taxi and not even once had she called or tried to reach out to anyone, including me.

I had no idea when I started looking into her, trying to find any detail on where she could be but nothing came up and no matter how hard I tried, I always met a dead end.

It was so frustrating!

“Can’t believe you’re like this because your ex-wife walked out on you,” David mumbled as he staggered around, clearly drunk because the strong smell of alcohol had clung onto him.

“Nooo, he is like this because he can’t find her,” Ted chipped in, leaning closer to me, “but look on the bright side buddy, she might be unreachable now but I am sure since we haven’t heard anything then she must be doing just fine.” He added and for some reason, that statement irritated me.

I tore their hands away from my body,

“Can I be alone, please just…”

Soft music suddenly started playing and before anyone could figure out what was going on, a beautiful voice was now echoing in the bar.

Someone was singing on stage and she looked so ethereal in her dress.

David whistled excitedly as he hurried over to get a better view of her,

“Who is this beauty?”

“You don’t know her?” Ted asked David, surprised that there was a woman on earth and at his party that Ted wasn’t familiar with.

“I don’t think so… not sure if I’ve seen her before. There is no way I would meet someone like her and not recognize her.”

I followed after them as they made their way forward, closer to the stage because there was something about her voice that was both soothing and familiar.

“She must be a celebrity singer.” I overheard one of the guests at the bar whisper as everyone looked on with a captivated expression on their faces.

Who was she?

Suddenly, I bumped into David and Ted, they had both abruptly stopped walking and were staring up at the stage with some sort of expression on their faces.

“What’s w-“

The words barely made it past my lips when my eyes rested on her.

Bella.

She was almost not recognizable but there was no mistaking her face. She still had the same features but they now stood out so boldly that she looked so much more beautiful than she ever had.

But it was impossible, it must be a trick of the light because how could the same woman I had been searching for, for the past six months without any progress suddenly turn up singing at this bar?

I lost count of how many times I blinked, hoping the illusion would fade away but it didn’t.

It was really Bella.

I had never really pictured seeing her again so I had no idea how I was going to react, but I definitely wasn’t expecting the feeling that took over me.

Her eyes were closed and even though I had been married to her for three good years, I had no idea she could sing that well.

“Is it just me or does she look like Bella?” David spun around in his drunken state to ask and he kept going back and forth with Ted about if they were mistaken or not.

Their voices faded into the background and my eyes remained fixed on her.

She was so different, different from the woman I had known. I could sense the change, not just in her appearance but in the way she carried herself on that stage, the confidence that she exuded and the feminine energy she now possessed.

It was a new side of Bella I never knew existed and I was captivated by it, just like everyone else present at the bar.

As soon as the music stopped playing and the room erupted with a loud applause from the crowd, she got off the stage and began to walk away.

I followed after her immediately and managed to get close enough to grab her arm and pull her back.

She spun around and my breath got caught in my throat when her piercing green eyes met with mine.

“It’s really you.” I whispered.

There was this rush of excitement mixed with anger that seized me at that very moment, I was both happy yet angry to see her again.

“You walk out of my house and disappear into fucking space? Because where the hell have you been for the past six months?”

Bella’s POVIt was about three hours later when Darla and Darlene returned to Faye’s house. I was quite surprised they had stayed out that late but when I saw their shopping bags, I immediately knew what had happened. The kitchen counter was soon flooded with the bags and I knew that Faye would have a fit if she came back and saw the barrage.“What is going on?” Audrey cried as she walked into the kitchen behind me.“The moms have struck again.” I liked that having them around did not remind me of what I had lost but instead made me appreciate what I’d been able to experience even more. Not everyone had a mom and even worse, not everyone had friends whose moms were theirs as well.“Again?” Darlene huffed. “Can’t remember the last time I ever spoiled myself this way.”“Well, what are we celebrating? Are we in business?” Of course, we knew the answer to that question already but we had to keep in line with the script and that meant we had to ask questions like this one.The twins exchan

Dominic’s POVIn order to give them that air of importance, we hired Darla and Darlene an escort who would also double as their guard. He was to keep eyes on them at all times as well as Daniel who was the major threat. The day we’d chosen was in line with Daniel’s visit as well. You see, he had a pattern which he followed weekly and that Wednesday evening was one of such days. By now, the notice had already been put out that the bar was for sale. Of course, the waitresses had been dropping subtle hints about it. A few of them had quit already but Ted assured us that hiring them back wouldn’t be a problem.“I’m a great boss,” he said, stretching to put his arms around his girlfriend.Since he had picked up the ring at the jewelers, he had been extra touchy around her. I was not sure that she had even noticed that was what was happening. Perhaps she was enjoying it even. I’d read somewhere that the first sign of pregnancy was actually an increased libido other than the missed period of

Dominic’s POV“A fashion boutique?!” The older twins exclaimed and all but hugged each other as their daughters announced to them the news.It had taken a while to convince Audrey to come on board with the plan especially since she was concerned for their safety. She didn’t want anything that would put her mother in harm’s way, least of all let her in on what was going on. One word of the trouble they were facing and she would have her transported to a whole other state as far from the trouble as possible. Then she would demand that Audrey cut ties with her friends here so that she was not remotely in danger.“That woman is the clear definition of dramatic.”She hadn’t been kidding either. Their reaction to the news was dramatic. I had assured Audrey that not only would they be with security at all times, they would have no direct contact with the mad man Daniel. When he went to outbid them, they would not even know. And they would not even be aware that they had been outbid.“Good, b

Dominic’s POVWhen we returned back to Faye’s house, I gathered all the women except their mothers and told them of Daniel’s plan. The last thing I wanted was for either of them to think that we were keeping secrets. Bella got upset the last time because I didn’t throw her into the loop. This time I wanted her to be a part of it and who knew perhaps the solution to the dilemma could come from one of them.“Take your company for a drug business?” Audrey asked.“Yes,” I nodded. She sounded incredulous. Perhaps the man she had imagined Daniel to be wasn’t who he’d turned out to be. He was all kinds of shady. All kinds of messed up. There was nothing good about Daniel. Especially since he was trying to run me down and I hardly even knew the guy. His claims that we shared the same parent could be falsified for all I knew. I’d never done a DNA test to prove them. The evidence he’d presented at the time had been too clear to deny. But now was not the time to start testing theories. Daniel ha

Dominic’s POVJohnny Lockland lived on the peak of a hill where the grass was greener and the fields larger. His house alone occupied an eighteen thousand square feet of concrete and bricks. But the security was just as tight and sophisticated. It was going to be very difficult to breach. Johnny knew he was in a dangerous line of work and had prepared for it.“How about round back?” I asked the lead security guy on the team. We were parked just between parallel lines of trees where the cameras couldn’t see round. “Any luck there?”The guy explained that there was no direct access from the back of the house to the roadside. Behind the house, the hill descended to meet a cliff below which were raging waters. We were not prepared to wade through water.“Have we gotten through to Yager?” I asked as I suited up. I had not been expecting the army that we had met at the house. It seemed like they knew to plan for something because nothing of that matter had shown up in Yager’s visuals.I str

Dominic’s POV“We need to fucking go out there and do the bastard in, right now.”I grabbed Ted around the arm before he could make it out the door. “Be reasonable. We are way out of our element here.”“In my own bar?”“He thinks you’re dead.” I sighed. I was just as angry as Ted and I knew that if we walked out there and just ended Daniel Trevor that would be a foolish move. He probably had armed security around the area and they would retaliate before we could even say boo. Not to talk of the legalities that would be involved. We could go to jail.“Right now, you are the only person that can help identify him as your attacker,” I was trying to reason with Ted but he was still talking. “Listen…” But he did not want to so, I had to be firmer. “Listen!” He stopped talking and looked at me. “We go to the police—”“Man, fuck that. They are not going to arrest him based off hearsay. I only heard his name. I have no proof that he is the Daniel Trevor being referred to. The police won’t do
