Dante’s POV

For several seconds, neither of us moved.

My name remained on the screen.

DANTE FERRARO.

Beneath it was a timestamp.

Four years ago.

The night Isabella was born.

Valentina stood beside me, staring at the monitor as if the letters might rearrange themselves into something less impossible if she looked long enough.

They didn’t.

“That’s not possible,” she whispered.

I didn’t answer.

My mind was already moving through every conversation I’d ever had with her father.

Every meeting.

  • My Ex chose My Twin, I Married His Billionaire Stepuncle    CHAPTER One Hundred Nine

Valentina’s POV“Which Valentina are you taking home?”Helena’s question kept playing in my head.I barely heard the children crying around me. All I could see was the woman lying on the floor, blood spreading beneath her white coat. She had my face.My name. And a birth certificate claiming she had been born six years before me.I looked at Dante. He was kneeling beside Adrian, pressing a hand against the wound in his father’s chest. Serena was shouting for someone to find a medical kit, while Emilia tried to gather the frightened children away from the open chambers.Nobody was looking at me.Nobody seemed to know what to do.I turned toward the woman.“Can you hear me?”Her eyelids fluttered.I dropped beside her and pressed my hands against the wound.“Stay with me. Please.”She caught my wrist. Her grip was surprisingly strong.“Don’t let them close the doors.”“Who shot you?”Her eyes moved toward the ceiling.“Helena.”A burst of static came from the speakers. Then Helena laugh

  • My Ex chose My Twin, I Married His Billionaire Stepuncle    CHAPTER One Hundred Eight

Dante’s POVFor several seconds, nobody moved.Seven children stood behind the glass chambers, each wearing the same silver bracelet. Some looked frightened. Others stared at us with the strange stillness of children who had been taught not to ask questions. Then the little girl who looked like Valentina pressed both palms against the glass.“Mommy?”Valentina made a sound beside me.I caught her arm before she could rush forward.“Wait.”She turned on me, tears filling her eyes. “Dante, look at her.”“I see her.”“No, you don’t understand. She has my face.”I understood more than I wanted to.The girl’s dark hair fell across her forehead exactly as Valentina’s did when she woke up. Even the small birthmark beneath her left ear matched the one my wife had carried since childhood. But there was something else. The boy standing two chambers away had my eyes. Not similar eyes. Mine.He studied me without blinking, his little fingers curled around the edge of his blanket.I had spent year

  • My Ex chose My Twin, I Married His Billionaire Stepuncle    CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED SEVEN

Dante’s POV“Seven?”The word barely left my mouth. The little girl nodded.“There are seven.”Valentina was still staring at her.She looked like she had forgotten how to breathe.I understood.Six years of searching.Six years of believing we had finally found the children Helena had taken. And now a little girl was standing in front of us, telling us there were more.Seven.I looked into the room behind her.It was dark.Too dark.I reached for my weapon.“Stay behind me.”Valentina didn’t listen. She stepped forward.“What’s your name?”The girl looked at her.“Lily.”Valentina froze.I felt her hand tighten around mine.“Lily?”The girl nodded.“That’s what Mommy called me.”Valentina’s eyes filled with tears.“But the other girl…”“She isn’t Lily.”My stomach tightened. The little girl looked toward the hallway.“Helena changed her name.”“Why?”“Because she didn’t want you to find me.”Valentina knelt in front of her.“Who is the other girl?”Lily frowned.“I don’t know her rea

Valentina’s POV“Please don’t let them take my daughter again.”The words seemed to hang in the air.Dante didn’t move.Neither did I.His face had gone completely blank. Then he whispered the only word that mattered.“Mom?”No answer. He stepped toward the ventilation shaft.“Mom!”This time, a woman’s voice came through.“Dante.”He closed his eyes.I had never heard anyone say his name that way.Not like a business partner. Not like a husband. Not like a son.It was the voice of someone who had spent years missing him.Dante looked at his father.“You said she was alive.”His father nodded.“I told you.”“Where is she?”“Above us.”Dante looked at the ceiling.“Then get her.”His father moved toward the stairs.I followed. So did Adrian, Eva, Alessandro, and Clara. The babies remained in the nursery with two members of the security team who had finally made their way down the corridor.I didn’t want to leave them. But something told me we had reached the center of everything. We cl

Dante’s POVFor several seconds, I couldn’t move. The man standing at the end of the corridor looked older than the photographs I had seen. But there was no mistaking him.My father. The man I had buried in my mind years ago.The man I had been told was dead.Adrian stood behind me, staring at him like he’d seen a ghost.“You,” Adrian whispered. The man smiled.“Hello, brother.”Valentina tightened her grip around Clara.I stepped forward.“You’re dead.”The man’s smile disappeared.“So they told you.”“Everyone told me.”“And you believed them.”“You disappeared.”“I was made to disappear.”Adrian shook his head.“You were supposed to be gone.”“I was.”“For how long?”“Twenty-two years.”My chest tightened.Twenty-two years. The number meant nothing until I remembered something.I was a child twenty-two years ago.A very young child.I remembered my mother crying.I remembered Adrian telling me my father had died.I remembered a funeral. But I didn’t remember seeing a body.I had ne

Dante’s POV“Daddy?”The little voice came through the speaker again. My blood ran cold.Valentina looked at me.I looked at Helena.Nobody moved. Then the voice came again.“Daddy, are you there?”It wasn’t my voice she was waiting for.I knew that immediately. There was something in the way she said it. The familiarity. The expectation. She wasn’t asking whether I was there. She was asking whether her daddy was there.Valentina stepped toward the speaker.“Who are you?”Silence. Then a small laugh.“I know you.”Valentina’s eyes filled with tears.“How?”“You came to see me before.”“When?”“Before Mommy told me not to remember.”My stomach tightened.I looked at Helena.“What did you do to her?”Helena shook her head.“Nothing.”“You expect me to believe that?”“I expect you to listen.”The speakers crackled. Then the little girl spoke again.“Mommy said I have to stay quiet when the bad man comes.”Valentina looked at me.“Who is the bad man?”The child didn’t answer.Instead, ano
