Monroe’s Tale

Monroe’s POV

The moment I walked into the room I felt her. I heard her fast heart rate and felt her pull when I made eye contact. I wasn’t sure who I was feeling the bond with, her or the babies or even one of the babies but it was coming from her. Something I thought I would never feel in all my life. The Mate Bond. Being a vampire the bond is different for us. We can feel it even when in utero. We’ll always be drawn to that person where ever they are in the world, and if we haven’t completed the mating process when they die; we go into a blood lust until hunters come and kill us. The opposite occurs when we’ve made the mate bond and have lost them. We go into a dark depression and basically starve to death. It’s scary, that’s why most Vampires don’t make the bond. It’s either die from a hunter or die from lack of food. Psh, take the hunter any day was my opinion.

It wasn’t to hard to play that I didn’t have an interest in protecting her especially to these buffoons.

“Well tell me everything,” she said after she bit more into her sandwich.

“Every thing?”

“Every thing,”

I took a deep breath and began.

“I was born during the regency era of England. My parents were loving and loyal to one another which was rare in the hierarchy of that age. Especially when the Regent himself wasn’t loyal. It was at a ball, the last one of the season, I saw a man and woman in the dark walk and assumed there’d be a wedding in a fortnight if not three days. When suddenly the woman went limp and fell to the ground, the man turned towards me and I saw blood all over his chin and down his front. I began to turn away when he was suddenly in front of me. Before I could even speak to him; he attacked. Shortly after, I heard a cross bow fire and the man stopped, I was so weak from his eating that his weight brought us both down. The hunter threw all of us in the back of his wagon, and drove off. Sometime later we stopped and he took the man and the woman and burnt their corpses. He was going to burn me as well but he saw I was alive and needed to wait to see if I would turn. Within those few days I gained a good friend. So much so that when I turned he didn’t kill me. He made me take an oath though that if I ever became a blood sucking bastard that him or his descendants could do what they want with me. I agreed. For the next centuries I lived every where. I usually went hunting with my friend until he could no longer and then I just wondered. I’ve learned all the major languages and eventually I made it to America. I’ve been here since after WW2 and I’ve stayed. Moving from state to state every 10 yrs or so. Malcolm found me on one specially dark night where I hadn’t hunted in a while. He said if I joined his pack I’d never go without blood but I’d have to do things from time to time for him. As long as I agreed I could be with the other vampires and stay in one place the rest of my life. I liked the sound of that. After 200 years plus of being a nomad putting down roots sounded good to me and with wolf no less. So I agreed and I’ve been here for the past 5 years,”I stopped and looked at my future mother in law.

She was smiling ear to ear. I was taken back a little bit.

“I’m sure whatever horrible things you’ve done it’s all in the past the moment you felt the bond. I’m so happy to meet you,” she said as she hugged me. I felt the baby kick as she did so. We both giggled.

Suddenly there was loud noises and wolves growling; then the door burst open. I quickly went in front of Becca and my mate and went defensive. His bite may kill me but I’ll die before I let anyone get them.
