The room was still vibrating with the echoes of what had almost been lost. My skin burned from Devon’s touch, from the way he had claimed me earlier, yet I could still feel the lingering tremors of fear beneath the surface of my chest. The memory of Elias’ attempt to take me hadn’t faded, and it was all I could think about until Devon closed the door of our private chambers and locked it with a quiet, deliberate click.

He stood with his back against the door, his chest rising and falling with heavy breaths, eyes fixed on me like I was both the danger and the salvation. That look alone made my knees weak.

“Devon…” I whispered, not sure if I wanted to talk about what had just happened outside, or if I wanted to be consumed by him again, drowned in the only fire that kept me from shattering.

But he didn’t answer with words. He crossed the distance in three strides, his hand clamping around the back of my neck, pulling me into a kiss that was less kiss and more collision. His mouth devour

Joey’s voice still echoed faintly in the corridor. “They’re waiting at the daycare, Luna. The mothers said they’d love to see you again.”I had smiled when she said it, because going there always eased something tight inside my chest. But when Devon’s hand closed firmly around mine, pulling me just a step closer, I realized this visit wasn’t going to be like the others.“I’m coming with you,” he said, his tone low but final.I blinked up at him. “You don’t have to. You’re busy”“I’m not letting you out of my sight right now, Addy.” His eyes darkened, the memory of the attack still raw in both of us. “Not after what almost happened.”The reminder sent a cold shiver crawling across my skin. The moment Elias’s men had surged through, the witch Patricia twisting her magic in the air, my body had gone rigid with fear. Devon had saved me again but I couldn’t forget the look in his eyes when he thought I might be taken from him.“All right,” I whispered, trying to push away the heaviness. “T

The first thing I felt when I woke was soreness. My body ached in ways that made me blush even with no one around to see my thoughts. Every muscle hummed with the memory of the night before of Devon’s relentless touch, his claiming, the roughness that had pushed me to places I hadn’t thought I could endure.I winced slightly as I stretched, then sighed into the pillows, warmth blooming inside me. For all the intensity, for all the bruises I could feel on my hips and thighs, there was something grounding in the way he had held me afterward. Soft. Steady. As if he wanted to shield me from everything.A low growl of satisfaction rumbled from beside me. “You’re sore,” Devon’s voice came, husky with sleep.I turned my head to find him watching me, propped up on one elbow. His hair was tousled, his jaw shadowed with stubble, his golden eyes softened by the morning light. But there was no mistaking the edge of pride in his expression, the satisfaction of a man who had left his mark.“You’re

My lungs still burned.Even though Devon had already pulled me into the safety of his arms, even though Elias’ shadow was gone from the hallway, I couldn’t stop shaking. My chest rose and fell in frantic jerks, my heartbeat hammering against my ribs so violently I thought it might break through. Joey stirred weakly beside me, half-conscious after the blow she’d taken, but all I could do was clutch Devon’s shirt with trembling fists as if letting go would mean Elias would come back and drag me away.“I’ve got you,” Devon’s voice was low, guttural, more animal than man. His scent surrounded me, smoke and pine and fury, his body hot and hard against mine. His hands ran over me quickly, checking, searching, making sure Elias hadn’t hurt me. “You’re safe now. He didn’t touch you. Tell me he didn’t”I shook my head violently before he could finish, tears spilling down my cheeks. “No. No, he didn’t. But… but he almost” My throat closed, choking on the thought of what might have happened if D

Addy’s heart was hammering in her chest as she ran alongside Joey, the corridors of the pack’s stronghold stretching ahead like a maze. Every step echoed against the stone walls, the urgency of their mission driving them forward. She could feel the baby inside her stirring with her rapid movements, but there was no time to slow down. She had to reach the safe room; she had to be sure both of them were out of immediate danger.Joey’s hand was firmly around hers, steadying her as she almost tripped over the uneven floor. “We’re almost there,” Joey whispered, her voice taut but controlled. “Just a little further, Addy. Keep moving.”Addy nodded, though her lungs burned and her legs ached. She didn’t care. She wouldn’t let fear slow her down. Not now. Not when everything she loved was at stake. Then a shadow moved at the edge of her vision, faster than it should have been. She spun, heart in her throat, just in time to see Elias emerge from a side hallway, his eyes blazing with fury and d

The morning light barely touched the edges of our room when I stirred, still curled against Devon’s chest. His warmth was addictive, his steady heartbeat a rhythm I could have sworn would lull me into forever.“Addy,” he murmured, his fingers threading into my hair. “You’re awake.”I smiled sleepily, resting my hand over his. “I’m never leaving this spot,” I whispered, nuzzling closer. “Promise me I can stay a little longer.”He chuckled softly, pressing his lips to my forehead. “You can stay as long as you like. I’m not going anywhere.”For a few moments, the world was nothing but us. The soft sunlight, our intertwined bodies, the gentle rise and fall of our breathing. It felt like a dream where danger didn’t exist, where we could just be Addy and Devon, not Alpha and Luna, not targets of vengeance, not pawns in someone else’s schemes. But even in this serenity, I sensed the subtle shift the tension Devon tried so hard to hide. I felt it first in the way he stiffened when he heard th
