Vanessa’s heart races with anticipation as the plane gently touches dawn on the tarmac. It has been five years since she left LA and everything behind . Not much has changed she thought as she spotted Emma waving, the last time she was at this airport was when Jeff and Emma were seeing her off and now Jeff is gone.
“I am so excited to see you!” Emma screamed throwing her body at Vanessa for a hug not minding the people around.
“I have missed you,” Vanessa replied, hugging her even more tightly.
In all the five years Emma has been away they have only seen each other through video calls and pictures. It felt great seeing each other even though it wasn't a happy visit.
“I hope you are not leaving soon? we have a lot of catching up to do” Emma said as she led v to her car.
“Hey I just landed and you are already talking about leaving,” she joked, fasting her seat belt.
“ I can't believe you drive now Emma”she teased knowing Emma has a fear of driving for the longest time.
“Believe me, I am as surprised as you are” she rolled her eyes as she replied. “But I only drive when I really really have to,” she confessed with a smile.
“ And you really really have to today because?” v asked with a mischievous smile playing on her face .
Emma ignored her and continued driving. It was obvious she was just having fun. She is always like that when she is happy she teases and it was nice to see she was in that mood after everything she's been through with the baby and Alex.
“You know I am back for good, not Just for the funeral” v broke the silence. Caughting her off guard .
“Are you for real ?” she said excited “ please don't kid me ,you know los Angalos is boring without you”
“I am for real, I promise.”

Alex's private jet landed a few minutes after v's plane he had his famous smirk on as he ascended with his phone over his ears
“Call an immediate meeting,” he said as he headed for the limo, waiting for him with the door open and the driver standing straight beside it, “ and don't let anyone know of my presence,” he warned .
He pauses and listens to the other side for sometime, his expression in readerble.
“no! Keep his office lucked and all his files should be on my desk before I come in ” he ordered with authority.
“I am back for good he murmurs” under his breath as he flips the phone.
He has been everywhere since the divorce ,it felt like forever since the last time he set foot in LA , he sat back laid his head back and close his eyes running a multibillion dollar company while on an exile wasn't easy but he has done it and now finally he believes everything is over and things will get back to normal, he hoped if one can categorize a lonely life as normal.
He doesn't seem to find peace or any semblance of happiness in anything so he throw his time in to work and work while he retires every night with a different woman or two kicking them out as soon as the morning sun came out only to repeat the same thing again he hated his life it's really is truth that no matter how much you make it's nothing if you have no one to share it with.
“Take me to the house first” he ordered the driver he wanted to go where it all came crumbling. He had bought the house anonymously from Jeff when he was selling it. He doesn't blame her though he would have done the same thing in her shoes.
That house holds a lot of memories and he understands why she ran after what he had to do and now he dares to believe she will be willing to forget everything and make new ones. Yes he is back and he is going to get his woman.
“We are here sir” the driver announced, holding the door open for him to step out.
He majestically walk up to the front door and step inside feeling nostalgic, the memory of the first day they came to the house was tattooed to his brain as clear as day v had excitedly told him the house it was the perfect house to start a family and could also see it as there retirement house. And when they bought it she had spent most of her time working on the house. She had decorated it herself. It was her first project as a part-time interior designer and she did a splendid job.
He slowly walked to the window and looked out to her garden, one of her favorite places to be in the house. She would spend her free hours tending to the garden and would look up to the window and smile at him while he watched her soil sometimes. And she will complain about the animals and insects digging and eating up her hard work and when he offers to call an exterminator she will look at him as though he had sinned “I won't have killed those poor things on my conscience” she would say.
And now the house felt empty and abundant without her. vanessa was truly a light in his life. He was basically a robot before he met her and he had stupidly let her down in the worst way possible.
“Am back for you v” he whispered “ and I will get you back no matter what.
He treats his steps back with a renewed determination and just as he was about to walk out he spotted an envelope on the console addressed to Mr. Marshall, which he finds strange since nobody knows he still owns the house.
Now she has three options: lie to his face, act cold and distant and walk away from the situation like she knows he's capable of doing, or stay and get into a fight that she's certain nobody is going to win. But from the look on Alex's face, it was going to be the third option."You slept with Jeff!" he said again, his voice higher than before, causing her to take a few steps away from him. And if she couldn't read his visage before, well, she sure could now, and she's not a fan of what she's seeing, nope, not one bit."Freaking Jeffrey?" he screamed, his eyes red, the vein on his forehead visible. And let's just say she looks dehydrated and completely and utterly out of words. She could argue that they weren't married then, but let's face it, that would be a low blow and insensitive. All she could do was try to calm him and hopefully find a way to explain. Or maybe just take the second option and walk away before it gets ugly, and he does something they'll both regret."You cheated o
Vanessa pounded the pavement, her jogging shoes rhythmically hitting the ground as she made her way home. For two months, she'd woken up every morning before dawn to clear her mind with a run. The routine had become her sanity, a reminder that life was still good, even if it hadn't turned out exactly as she'd wished. The threats had stopped, and the eerie feeling of being watched had dissipated, likely due to Alex's absence. Yet, Vanessa felt a sense of happiness she couldn't shake, and it wasn't just the endorphins talking. Today was different; a newfound spring in her step hinted at a fresh reason for her upbeat mood. The last threat still haunted her. A chilling video had arrived, showing Rose asleep in her bedroom at Vanessa's grandma's house. A figure clad in black, face obscured, sat on the edge of the bed, a Swiss Army knife glinting in their hand. The caption seared itself into her mind: "Stay away from him" for her, and "Stay away from her" for Alex. Vanessa's vision had blur
After days without receiving threatening messages, she finally felt a sense of relief. Emma seemed to have backed off from nagging her too, but it was too early to declare it over. Despite this temporary peace, her nerves were still on edge. Her main concern now was having to constantly dodge her daughter's pleas to see her father, her heart aching with the web of lies she had to spin each time.It was a quiet morning as she sorted through her emails, trying to find some semblance of normalcy while sipping her coffee. Suddenly, her phone rang, shattering the fragile peace she had mustered. Her heart raced as she debated whether to answer the unknown number. This was the reality of her life now, she thought, before finally picking up the call and bringing the phone to her ear."Vanessa," his deep voice greeted her from the other end.She refused to admit to herself that a part of her was relieved to hear his voice, knowing all too well that nothing good could come from breaking the con
“It's just me,” a voice called out from the building. At first, Vanessa couldn't discern the speaker's identity, but as a figure clad in a bathrobe emerged from the shadows, she recognized the familiar gait of her best friend, Emma. Her initial instinct was to flee, but she willed herself to remain composed.“It's just me,” Emma repeated, a hint of laughter bubbling beneath her words.“Emma?” Vanessa gasped with relief as she approached her friend. “What are you doing here?”“Well, you canceled on me, so I thought I'd surprise you at home. But when I arrived and found you missing, I let myself in,” Emma replied casually as they made their way back to Vanessa's apartment.“Is everything okay?” Emma inquired, noting the tension in Vanessa's voice.“Yeah, why?” Vanessa replied, her voice betraying a fear she sought to conceal. She knew that voicing her worries could jeopardize her Rose's well-being, so she masked her emotions behind a facade of composure which she knew Emma could see thr
Vanessa spotted Alex sitting at a corner table in the cozy cafe, elegantly dressed in a crisp shirt and sleek suit, it dawn on her that they had never heard an actual date like normal couple, and this wasn't one either. She felt a pang of guilt as she approached him, dressed in jeans and a hoodie, her attire fitting more for incognito than a casual coffee meetup. Alex looked up as she approached, a flicker of concern crossing his features before hiding behind a polite smile."I almost thought, you're standing me up," Alex greeted her, his voice holding a hint of uncertainty. In truth she had considered standing him up or canceling the date all together but she couldn't. She had dread her decision to meet every time the clock tick until an hour and a half passed. They exchanged brief pleasantries before settling into their seats, the tension palpable in the air between them his eyes set on her like he was scanning her, she knew he knows something was wrong, nothing ever pass him and t
Sam followed her gaze to the door but Alex was gone.“ Is everything alright?” he is now sitting next to her, making her even more uncomfortable. This is definitely not how she had pictured the evening going, it was supposed to be a romantic evening that ends with her waking up with a smile next to a naked Sam and the thoughts of Alex gone, she was convinced it wasn't love she felt for him it was lust and sleeping with Sam was going to make everything go away but instead she is worried about how much of what went between her and Sam Alex had witness and for no reason she was getting angry at Sam.“This is a bad idea,” she said in a whisper. If he wasn't sitting so close to her he wouldn't have had her.All this was getting old and frankly insulting, Sam was a solid nine, since nobody was ever actually a ten except in books, he was tall, good looking, respectable and runs his own successful business he wasn't Alex rich but rich yet it felt like she was using him.“Is there someone else
Rose swung her Father's hand happily as they walked to their car. It was parents teachers day and she was happy both parents came, she is having this bond with him that scared Venassa to the core, what if he up and leave again was forever her fear.“ You see, we work perfectly,” Alex pointed out, smiling at Vanessa. It always amazes her when he smiles even after all these years it was beautiful, almost like it he was a totally different person and she still wonders what most have caused him to be like that, Alex was never one to do back stories they are too painful she figured. If she could she would very much like to take the pain away, be his sunshine and see that smile everyday but she has been burnt down that road before.“I told you I am in a relationship,” she replied.“What are we then?” He asked with a mischievous smile this time. She knew exactly what he meant as Soon as that smile crossed his face and she hated thinking or talking about their shared nights together almost
“So you guys are friends now” Emma asked with a disgusted look on her face.“ No, not really,” Venassa answered, smiling like a teenager in love. “ He just wants to be involved in Rose's life and I figure it's good for her.”“Umh” Emma wasn't buying it she knew her friend enough to Know that smile wasn't just because she finally had closure.“Really, we talked, I am with Sam now and he is just getting to know his daughter.” Venassa was defensive. The truth was they had actually talk and he had agreed to keep his distance but none of them is truly convinced they were actually over, and the fact that he had came himself to get Rose for the weekend when he could easily sent someone only confirmed that he wants to see her and when he was told she went for a run he waited for her . She wanted to see him , if she was being honest with herself and touch him even and the only reason she was smiling was because she was going to see him again today but she couldn't say that out loud not even to
“ Say something,” Alex said, his tone lace with concern. He had followed her almost immediately she left and was relieved when she was the one who opened the door even though he could see her detest for his presence so much that even Rose's presence couldn't turn her frown, but she let him in without a word she walked straight to the kitchen and sat on one of the chairs around the kitchen island. He could tell she had been seated there probably since she came home , her face looking aged by worry. He sat on the vacant chair next to hers, while Rose ran around playing, occasionally calling for his attention but he was too concern for what Venassa was thinking to join the little girl, could do anything to make her smile it pained him to see her like that.“ What do you want me to say?” She asked when he had lost all hope that she would talk to him.“Say anything, tell me what you are feeling, what you are thinking please” he had her hands held in his hand while the other lifted her chi
