Chapter 1 The Comments

I quietly dragged myself away from her to put more distance between us. Melody opened her eyes and stared at me. "What's wrong?"

Her voice was sweet, soft, and alluring enough that it melted away whatever negative feelings I had. I was about to huddle closer, but then another comment showed up.

"LMAO, the FMC is trying to find an opening to break up, and he thinks she's trying to cheer him up?"

"It's nothing. I'm tired." I moved away further.

Melody lay on her back and leaned a little closer to me. "It's still early, though."

My phone's screen lit up just then, and the time, 10 p.m., stared back at me. Usually, I'd be going at it with her. The more bashful she was, the more excited I got. The warmth of her body also made my blood pump tonight.

I had no idea where these comments came from. Maybe they were fake. If she never liked me, she'd never have slept with me for so long. So, I figured that she was obviously just being a tease.

I had just reached for her body when the comments showed up once more.

"Here he goes again. She could finally lie on her back, but he's trying to make her puke her guts out."

"FMC would never have slept with this guy if she wasn't trying to make MMC jealous. This guy had better not think that she's fallen for him."

"He so can't read the room, OMG. He never notices how FMC nearly pushes herself off the bed whenever she's beside him. No wonder he dies so horribly down the line."

All the lewd thoughts I had for her disappeared, and I snatched my hand back. I closed my eyes, but the comments still popped up in my vision like annoying gnats.

Melody coughed quietly. When she realized I wasn't reacting, she huddled up to me. "It's Thursday tomorrow. I have no morning classes. What about you?"

The old me would've thought this was an invitation for some sexy time, but now…

"MMC is coming back tomorrow. FMC is hinting that this guy is hounding her. MMC is going to be mad jealous when he sees this. FMC sure knows what she's doing."

"Ooh, this is some nice drama. Me likey."

"It's so annoying that this lame side character is still taking up the spot of boyfriend. Eugh."

"Well, these are the best days of his life, and they're coming to an end. He's going to pay for disgusting the FMC."

The comments squeezed my heart, but Melody was still pressing for answers as she asked, "Ronnie?"

That name. It filled my heart with something bitter. She only called me that when we were fucking, and I had to beg her to do it.

She would look like I'd just committed some horrible sin if I ever asked her to call me that outside of the bedroom.

I thought it was just her being bashful, but now she was saying that name out loud easily just to make her true love mad. Then, I felt her body clinging to me as her breath, warm and enticing, curled around my ears. Her voice was sultry as she murmured, "Ronnie…"

She would go that far for another man, huh?

Something worse filled my heart. I turned to the side and moved away as I muttered lowly, "I have business tomorrow."

Melody froze for a moment before saying, "You should sleep, then."
