Two days later, Angel was sitting at her desk, her fingers running over her lips, her thoughts still focused on what Damian had told her. Right after he had said that, she had taken him home and nothing more was said. But he had told her when, not if, they were together; when, so a promise. And Lord help her, that was a promise she was wanting him to keep!
And she had always thought that domineering men would be something she couldn’t stand, that for her, she needed men to bow to her whim, not the other way around. But she wouldn’t lie, his words, how they were spoken, had her body pinning for more, and soon. Now she was smart enough to know that it was only that man that brought that out, that no one else ever could or would. And deep down, a place where she didn’t want to examine too closely, told her that made him special and made just for her.
That night, Angel walked into her parent’s house, smiling at Rosa and then gave her mom a kiss. God, she was really dreading this talk, although she needed it to be done. She trusted no one but Jr in this. Anything could go wrong and she needed to have those who had her back behind her. But she also knew that computer programs weren’t untraceable and anyone could follow Jr’s tracking, and therefore he would be in trouble. “Mamma, dov'è papà (Mama, where is dad)?” “In the office, sweetie.” “Thanks,” she called out to her mom as she walked to the back part of the house where his office was. She took a deep breath, knocked, and waite

“It’s a pleasure to be here Don Antonio. My sons and I say thank you.” “No need for thanks Rafael, it’s a business meeting.” “Of course. I must say, Don, you have beautiful children.” The brown eyes of Rafael glanced over the three boys and two girls who were all in the room; and he would say he would be honored to be connected to such a family. His eyes stayed on the three boys, trying to figure out who Angel was though. No one really knew who he was, they hadn’t seen his face but the word on the street was that he was sharp and tough and ready to take over being the Don when Antonio retired. “Thank you Rafael.” “May I inquire which son is Angel though?” All eyes of the children turned to their dad who smirked; after all, that was a common thought among people. “Angel, please come here.” A 5’6, brown hair, golden eye female stepped up next to the gentleman behind the desk and both father and daughter
Damian re-read the contract again, for the second time and sighed, again. He was aware of what he needed to do; the attack on their men was proof enough to him that they just didn’t have the man power for protection, so they went to their allies for help. But in their world, you never asked for anything without giving anything; and that was within any Italian family, mafia based or not. It still just grated on his nerves that he had to. He seen his father, and grandfather, work this business like nothing, and never needed help. But then times have changed, and Damian had expanded their wealth well beyond what his grandfather’s was. He was good at seeking and trading antiques, he had been taught well, even better than other’s over him. But as, the saying goes, the bigger the pound, the bigger the target. He was proud of his accomplishments, his whole family was, but he wasn’t proud of the spot light that had been shinned upon hi
Rafael watched his son as he watched Angel and he had to smile to himself. Oh, he had no intention of changing anything; he was going to let them figure that one out. “Don Antonio,” Damian said, holding out his hand, “a pleasure to meet you.” “Likewise, Damian; Rafael, nice to see you again. Please, let me introduce Rosa, your fiancé,” Antonio said, placing his hand on her back. Damian glanced at the green eye beauty and smiled, trying his best not to be disappointed. “Excuse me, Don, but we are missing Angel, thought he would be here for this.” “No, we are not.” D
Two weeks later, Angel pinched the bridge of her nose as she made her way out of the building. She needed lunch and a stiff drink after that stupid meeting. She knew she was going to have fights on her hands, she was ready for that. What she wasn’t ready for was pig headed men and their old style view who wouldn’t even let her speak. In fact, after she bid them a good morning, they insulted her by asking her to pour their drinks and to fetch their breakfast. And after those comments, all she saw was red. Two and a half hours later, she had a massive headache and wanted nothing more to drink and then go to the shooting range. None of the heads of the families would dare disrespect her dad, or her brothers, but her, they just didn’t care. If they had been
“What are you doing here?” Damian asked as he walked out of his office and saw Angel there with a few of her men who had been hanging out for the week. “I can’t let my men have all the fun.” She smiled and he had to grin as he looked her over in her black slacks, her heels and the green tank top blouse she was wearing. “I have a problem with keeping my nose out of all my businesses.” “So, you are here to learn?” “If you don’t mind? I mean, se ti dà il dito (if it bothers you)…” “No, you are fine.” He offered her a smile and went back to the business he was going
She glanced in the mirror at the green silky dress that fitted to her body like a glove, the spaghetti straps being jeweled and crossing a few times down her back where it meet the rest of the dress, right above her butt. She twisted and turned as she looked at herself, the dress doing amazing things to her self esteem. And paired with her black heels and her hair up, she would look amazing; and that she could do with. She sighed as she stepped off the platform and out of the room, going back to her changing room to change into her suit again. She paused as she heard the ding from the front door and then a voice that was haunting her; Damian. She walked out of the room, smiling at him as she spotted him. “Hello Angelina,” he said, with a smile.
