Chapter 5 To make her interested

Autor: Ela Osaretin
When they got out of the club, Lucas set Amelia down on her feet.

“Thank you, Mr Sullivan.” She murmured.

With how Damian had addressed him, Amelia knew he was an important person in society.

She really didn’t want to get mixed with these kind of people anymore but at the same time, her body was singing from being in his arms.

“You’re welcome. I could still take you home if you’re up for that.” He offered.

“I…”Before Amelia could reply to that, a voice interrupted them.

“There you are.”

Lucas and Amelia turned to see the man she was dancing with earlier at the club, the man Damian had hit.

This time, he had about five hefty men around him, and they were obviously thugs.

“Oh, you’re not with that punk anymore? Just how many are there? No one has to get hurt, I have taken a liking towards you so come with me, I promise you’d have a good time.” The man let out in a threatening tone.

Lucas pulled Amelia behind him.

“Get lost.” He ordered.

The man, determined to get the beautiful Amelia signaled his men to attack Lucas.

Lucas charged towards them, punching and blocking every jab and kick as high as his head, each attack and retreat performed, skilledfully, he was determined to protect Amelia.

But to his surprise, the woman he wanted to protect lunged at the men before he could stop her.

She moved like the wind, sending kicks to the knees, punches to the jaw. One by one, the men dropped to the ground, weakly.

Within minutes, the entire group, including their leader laid barely conscious on the ground.

Lucas swallowed as he stared at Amelia.

“You’re strong.” He complimented.

She smirked. “I know.”

He didn’t feel intimidated by her. If anything, he got even more fascinated and drawn to her.

“Since we’ve just gone through that together, how about we go on a date?”

Amelia scoffed. “Are you sure you didn’t stage that attack to flirt with me?”

Lucas cocked an eyebrow, he reached for her, swiftly.

Snaking an arm around her waist, he pulled her against his body.

Amelia’s breath caught but she didn’t push him away.

“I have better means than that if I want to flirt with you.” He ran his thumb through her bottom lip. “You’re so beautiful, Miss Brown.” He drawled.

This wasn’t the first time she had been called ‘beautiful’ but she had no idea why his words, his voice stirred something in her chest.

She had only wanted to use him to piss off Damian.

She shouldn’t be in his arms like this.

She shouldn’t be a blushing mess.

Seeing his head lower as he brought his lips to hers made her eyes dilate but she still couldn’t bring herself to push him away.

The second they kissed, her skin sizzled.

His lips were so warm against hers. The kiss started off soft and sensual. Mouths pressed together, lips slowly caressing, his tongue touching her lips, and she opened wide to take him in.

His arms encircled her waist and pulled her to him. She was pressing against him, her soft curves against his muscles.

Even under his designer tux, she could feel his rock-hard body. She could feel something else too.

The kiss started off soft and sensual, but it rapidly became something else.

The ringing of her cellphone startled Amelia and she realized she had been kissing a stranger, passionately.

Alarmed, she disengaged from him.

Had she learnt nothing from the behavior of men?

She had just gotten divorced but here she was, in the arms of another man!

Did she want to get hurt again?

She glanced at him awkwardly as she answered her call.

It was Jessica.

“Where are you, Amelia? I’ve been searching for you everywhere. Are you okay?”

Amelia recalled they had gotten separated on the dance floor.

“I’m fine. I’m at the side of the club’s building.” She replied and then hung up.

She glanced back at Lucas who had his arms crossed around his formidable chest.

“About the date…” He reminded but she interrupted him.

“It can’t happen. I’m not interested.”

She didn’t want to get involved or entangled with another man again. She didn’t want any man to leave her questioning her self worth and beauty. She wanted to focus on herself. She felt she was better off alone.

But as she walked away, her lips still twitched from his kiss and she couldn’t deny how devastatingly handsome that man was.

Lucas Sullivan had a smirk on his face as he watched her walk off.

He learned throughout his whole life that timing was everything. He had always been practical, he had made logical and reasonable decisions. He believed that all his calculated and logically planned decisions had led him to where he was now, as the President of the greatest empire in New Orleans.

Nothing ever moved him. He knew a lot of people often wondered if he had a heart. Even him, himself had thought about it and concluded that he wasn’t wired like most people. He felt extraordinary and he stared at people as lesser beings.

But his control slipped the moment he saw her tonight.

And after kissing her, it was as though every part of his life was shifting to include her.

Oh, he was going to make her interested.

The handsome man raised the cigar to his lips, took a slow, deliberate drag, and then blew the smoke toward the window as if he could somehow make it drift down to caress Amelia’s face. "Well, well, beautiful. Looks like I've finally tracked you."His lips curved into a dangerous smile, his predatory gaze never leaving Amelia, who had no idea she was being hunted.Inside the underground boxing club, the shouting and cursing grew louder by the second.Amelia stood in the center of the ring. She withdrew her gaze from the upper floors, her brows furrowed. She couldn't see who it was, but she could feel it, someone out there was watching her with pure hostility. She swept a cold glance across the rowdy crowd and said in a frosty tone, "If you don't believe I beat the Boxing King, then step up and try to take me down."Since they couldn't accept what they saw, she'd give them front-row seats to a few more beatdowns, until they had no choice but to believe it.The second she spoke, the nois

The Boxing King lay sprawled on the mat, his body refusing to cooperate. He wanted to get up, tried, but his limbs were heavy, his vision blurry. The roar of the crowd had become a distant hum, swallowed by the throbbing pain coursing through him.The referee's final count echoed through the underground arena.Amelia had won.The crowd exploded. Cheering, shouting, jumping, strangers hugging strangers. Those who had bet on her were ecstatic. Against all odds, they had struck gold.Carla stood frozen, eyes wide, mouth agape. Like a balloon with all the air punched out, she stared blankly ahead. "I…how… How could this be?" she muttered to herself, unable to accept her defeat in the bet. How could a Boxing King lose to a slender woman? There must be something shady going on!Carla pointed a trembling finger at Amelia, her voice rising to a deranged pitch.“She bribed the Boxing King! That's it! He took a bribe…he let her win! There's no other explanation!"Carla’s voice cut through the ch

Up on the fighting platform, the lights blazed down like spotlights on a stage. The Boxing King had expected gratitude, maybe even begging. Instead, Amelia eyes held nothing but cold contempt, and for a split second, it made him freeze.Something about this woman tugged at his memory, like a half-remembered dream that wouldn't come into focus. Those eyes. They looked down at him as if he were nothing, reminiscent of the mysterious Boxing Queen who had appeared from nowhere and vanished just as quickly, leaving only legends in her wake.As the Boxing King studied Amelia’s lean frame, a crazy thought crept into his mind. Could this woman standing before him actually be the legendary Boxing Queen? The idea hit him like a punch to the gut, but he shook his head violently. No! "Exactly! Even male fighters struggle against him. She's walking into a slaughterhouse."“Unless… wait. Is this rigged? Did someone pay off Boxing King to throw the fight? No way. Too obvious. That's suicide."“Pfft. Forget it. Just another rich fool with more money than sense."“What an idiot. Might as well light that stack on fire. Betting on a walking corpse? Only fools back a loser!"Eugene didn't flinch. "I believe she can beat Boxing King."“Yeah! Me too!" Emily added, her voice steady.Honestly, Emily and Eugene weren't completely sure Amelia would win. But in a place where everyone was waiting to tear Amelia down, they had to be the ones to back her, loud and clear.Eugene turned back to Carla. "What's wrong? Scared to match me now?"Carla and her crew looked stiff. One hundred million? They couldn't scrape that together if they sold everything they owned.“You? You really got that kind of money?" Carla taunted.Eugene stayed cool. "If you're in, I'll bring the cash. If I can't

“Who's the guy?" Kole's voice carried a note of nervous suspicion as he studied the masked man's imposing frame. "Think he's some kind of fighter?"“Doesn't matter." Carla’s voice remained ice-cold and confident. "This is about the bet, not backup muscle. When Amelia gets her ass kicked, she'll still have to honor the bet."Amelia walked ahead and stopped in front of the trio, her lips curved in a subtle smile. The underground boxing arena attracted society's underbelly, criminals, thrill-seekers, and desperate souls, all drawn to the scent of blood and easy money.Amelia had fought tooth and nail to keep Emily away from this dangerous place, but Emily had stubbornly refused to be left behind. The thought of leaving Emily…Unprotected, Emily’s presence terrified Amelia, so she had convinced Eugene to serve as Emily’s bodyguard.“Well, well. Look who decided to show up after all." Cassie's voice dripped with false surprise and genuine malice. "I was betting you'd run home crying to momm

"Patience." Marcus’ face remained a mask of stone, revealing nothing of his inner calculations. "We just had a public confrontation. Move against her now, and every finger will point straight at us."Jorge's head bobbed with understanding, his confidence returning in full force. "Give me a week, and that woman will vanish without a trace, like she never existed."Their next human trafficking shipment was already scheduled for departure. She would simply become another piece of cargo, bound for foreign shores and a fate worse than death.“Good. But don't get sloppy with the transport," Marcus warned.“Don't worry about me." Jorge's chest swelled with pride. "I've never fucked up a job yet, and I'm not about to start now."*********On the top floor of Roka Restaurant, Viola approached Amelia and Emily, her tone laced with curiosity and warmth.“What happened? What took you so long?"“Nothing at all," Amelia answered with a calm smile.Beside her, Emily’s lips twitched. She tried to keep
