LOGINHi there, lovely readers. It's the first time connecting with you all and I thank you for choosing to ride with me on this book's journey.
If you like it, please, leave a comment. Communicate whatever you feel isn't right or any adjustment. I need your motivation too. Thank y'all. Moraine. Eirik’s pov Thalia didn't show up at the office till closing time. She didn't attend her first meeting as a shareholder. The way she rushed out earlier told me something went wrong. I wanted to call her, ask if she was fine, if everything was okay but the number didn't go through. It seemed she changed numbers. I searched the information she submitted at the latter in the shareholder's document and found the new number yet I couldn't dial it. What if she flips on me? She already hates me. I shouldn't make her hate me more. Whatever she went to sort out, I could only hope it wasn't something serious. "Will you be working overtime today, sir?" John asked, I paused, remembering the calendar Thalia showed me earlier. In her words, she insinuated John skipped some important meeting with investors intentionally but what if he skipped it by mistake and she was wrong? John has been my assistant for many years. He was someone I have always trusted. There was no way he would sideline investors. For what reason? Investors yield sales and more profit for the company. What gain does he achieve if the company goes down the drain? "John, you can leave. I will leave soon too." I answered, wanting to investigate it on my own. He nodded and was about to leave. But he stopped, "Sir, do you trust the new shareholder? Miss Thalia Orleans?" He asked. The question was a little bit absurd. How can Thalia expose something about John and in turn, he is also weary of her? Something was definitely fishy. "Why do you ask?" I decided to play around a little. John can't betray me. I do not believe he can turn against me. For what reason exactly? Why would he decide to do something like that? Except if he was acting on someone's orders but who? The only person it could be is Lorion, my brother but he doesn't even have anything to do under my company. He can't lay his hands on anything here. John hesitated, "She is your ex-wife, sir. What if she came back to do something sinister against you?" He said, "No, John. Thalia won't do anything like that. I trust her." I said with confidence. Thalia can't possibly do anything to hurt me. She was just hurt that I betrayed her and I would do anything to make her forgive me. She came to be the shareholder of my company to remind me of that. Soon, she will be mine again. John nodded slightly and left. I understood his concerns but I wasn't worried at all. If John didn't alternate my calendar, who could have done it? What if there was someone else who has access to it? There was no one except three people. John, Thalia and I. Thalia just arrived. Could she have done that just to frame John? No, she isn't someone like that. She said the alternation occurred and I believed her but I do not believe that John did it. The majority of my work concluded yesterday. There was no need to work overtime today. I checked the time. It was almost 8pm. I took my suit and bag, heading downstairs. With a second thought, I went back upstairs, straight to Thalia's office. I opened the door and it was exactly how it was the last time I came here. The office was once mine. I worked here first when my company hadn't gotten to this point in the country. I worked hard to get to the position I was today. I walked further into the office, checking out the area. She was still the same Thalia I knew. Decent and clean. Her desk barely had anything except the wooden tag of 'shareholder' I opened the drawers gently. There was nothing else there. Except one of them. It was locked. I frowned, staring at the locked drawer. What could be in there? What was Thalia hiding? Important documents? I tried to look for the keys but they weren't even present in the office. She must have taken the keys with her. I stood up, groaning loudly in frustration. My curiosity grew larger by each passing second. What was Thalia hiding? I gave up. I couldn't find the keys. There was no way I would try to break the drawer open. Thalia will get even more angry at me and that wasn't what I needed right now. I decided to leave it be. I was about to leave when I stopped again, turning towards a ninety degree angle. My eyes widened before getting replaced with darkness. A camera. There was a damn camera in Thalia's office. I didn't fix it and I was sure Thalia wouldn't fix a camera just to look at herself. The only one capable of doing something so wrong was – Lorion. My hands clenched into fists. That son of a bitch. He was definitely monitoring Thalia without her knowledge. I knew my wife. She would never allow such a thing because she will count it as making her uncomfortable. What was Lorion's motive? What was he doing watching Thalia with a camera? Or he may have fixed it because of me. He knew I would try to chase Thalia so he wanted to monitor my movements in her office. Very good. It just made things less difficult for me. I stepped closer to the camera, dipping my head sideways slightly. I found what I wanted and rushed out. "John, I need you to do something for me." I called my assistant. But I paused again. Thalia was suspicious of John. Thinking of the camera, there was no way Lorion would have fixed that all by himself. He must have sent someone. Someone who wasn't familiar with the floors of the company couldn't do such clean work as fixing that camera. It must be someone who was inside and the only person who was capable would be John. "Boss?" John called, still on the call. I snapped out of it, "Never mind. I will sort it out myself." I ended the call immediately.Eirik’s pov"Eirik, are you alright?" Lorion questioned.I chuckled bitterly, drinking straight from the alcohol bottle. "You are not the one whose life is ruined. My company was taken away. My marriage was destroyed. My only child is fighting for his life in the hospital. What else remained? She made sure to destroy everything."Now, I was left with nothing. Lorion now had full control of my company. Thalia was gone forever which meant I had no wife or right to the baby she gave birth to four years ago. The son I called my own may be declared dead tomorrow morning if he decided not to wake up anymore.I didn't have anything else. There was nothing else left to fight for. The only thing I had right now was my life and I wouldn't even bother if it ended at the moment. "You are not so good with alcohol." Lorion tried to caution me but he didn't even take the bottle away from my hands.I sighed, pouring the bitter liquid into my mouth. The house I built for my family was now empty and l
Thalia's pov I didn't care if Eirik was hurt too because there was no one who wouldn't feel hurt learning that his mother was behind everything that had happened to him.But it didn't validate the fact that he betrayed me. I couldn't forget it even if I tried to. I had tried to forget about everything for four good years but I couldn't, no matter how hard I tried. It kept ringing at the back of my mind. Ianth was not my son. Mirelle was his mother. My original baby was dead. I lost my husband to my supposed best friend — I couldn't forget all those things easily."Thalia..." Eirik called, standing in front of me.I turned away, wiping tears away from my eyes and rubbing my nose. "I told you to leave me alone.""Thalia, please. Listen to me just this once and I promise I will never trouble you again." He collapsed on his knees.I scoffed, looking at me sideways. I had seen him kneeling down so many times that it almost didn't mean anything tangible to me anymore."I just have one thin
Eirik’s povStaring at the content of the document in my hands, I didn't know what to think. Was it the fact that Thalia's college best friend, Elizabeth used the real face of my ex in high school, Mirelle.Everything was messing with my head in a bad way. I wished Thalia had shown me all of these before now. It would have been dealt with. I couldn't believe I slept with a fake, a fraud, a liar and a surgical face."What happened to the real Mirelle?" Lorion asked.I shook my head, "I don't know, Lorion. I didn't see or meet her after high school. I don't know how her face came about.""That's not the actual problem right now." Lorion said, "I've processed your release. The police should be here by now."Just after he finished speaking, the cell opened and I was freed. I was very surprised because I didn't expect it. Maybe I had accepted my fate already.I knew I didn't do it but I didn't want to bother Lorion and Thalia from wasting their time because I knew it'd be exhausting and fr
Thalia's pov"I'm sorry I haven't dropped by for several days. Did you miss me?" I asked, touching his hands."Look, I brought your favourite porridge soup." I brought out the small flask and opened it, the scent filling the entire room.My eyes watered in remembrance. If Ianth was sitting right in front of me, he'd be so excited to eat the soup with me. That had been his favorite ever since I came back."William came with me today. He became friends with someone special. Don't you want to see her? She is beautiful and very reserved. She reminded me of you when you were also seven years old." I rambled on."Please, wake up soon, sweetheart. We are all waiting for you. We need you to wake up." Rachel was standing outside the door, waiting for me. I wiped my eyes, sniffed before leaving the room. Ianth has been on that bed for more than a month."Thalia, are you alright?" Rachel asked in concern as she rubbed my arms.I nodded with a small smile. "I am fine. Is there something wrong?"
Lorion's pov"Can you stay with Aunty Thalia for some time? I want to take care of something." I crouched to Arianna's size."Will you stay long?" She wrote. I shook my head, "I won't stay too long, I promise." I withdrew a small phone from my pocket and gave it to her.I had always kept the phone with me and never had to use it except in rare cases of emergencies. Now, I was giving it to Ariana because she needed it more."If you ever feel alone or burdened, sad or worried, call the only number on this burner phone anytime and I will come running to you, alright?" I held her shoulders. She looked at the phone in her hands, gripping it tightly. "Is this a goodbye message?" She scribbled.Goodbye message? I almost laughed. "It seems you've watched a lot of action movies, sweetie but no, I'm not saying goodbye. I'm only —"Arianna cut me off abruptly with a hug. Her hands wrapped around my neck and I embraced her back. It was good news because she was warming up towards me slowly. I'd
Lorion's pov "He was once a worker? Has he worked here before?" I asked.John pushed back his glasses, "Yes. Mr Philip was the vice chairman, second in position to Mr Eirik. He handled everything else, rarely allowing me to do anything as the assistant. But recently around last year, he was suspected. Mr Eirik finally caught him.""What was he doing?" Thalia asked. He sighed, "He was involved in fraudulent activities. He constantly transferred money from the company's account to an unknown account. He sold products for high prices in the market. Mr Eirik found out and fired him, blocking his access to the company.""So, how did he get in unnoticed? How did he do it?" I was literally running insane. The so-called Philip couldn't be recognized by other workers when he walked into the company's building. We let our guard down, allowing the enemy to walk in like he owned the place."I have no idea. He must have planned it very well. According to the footage, he dressed like he was one of
