Eirik’s pov Thalia didn't show up at the office till closing time. She didn't attend her first meeting as a shareholder. The way she rushed out earlier told me something went wrong. I wanted to call her, ask if she was fine, if everything was okay but the number didn't go through. It seemed she changed numbers. I searched the information she submitted at the latter in the shareholder's document and found the new number yet I couldn't dial it. What if she flips on me? She already hates me. I shouldn't make her hate me more. Whatever she went to sort out, I could only hope it wasn't something serious. "Will you be working overtime today, sir?" John asked, I paused, remembering the calendar Thalia showed me earlier. In her words, she insinuated John skipped some important meeting with investors intentionally but what if he skipped it by mistake and she was wrong? John has been my assistant for many years. He was someone I have always trusted. There was no way he would sideline investors. For what reason? Investors yield sales and more profit for the company. What gain does he achieve if the company goes down the drain? "John, you can leave. I will leave soon too." I answered, wanting to investigate it on my own. He nodded and was about to leave. But he stopped, "Sir, do you trust the new shareholder? Miss Thalia Orleans?" He asked. The question was a little bit absurd. How can Thalia expose something about John and in turn, he is also weary of her? Something was definitely fishy. "Why do you ask?" I decided to play around a little. John can't betray me. I do not believe he can turn against me. For what reason exactly? Why would he decide to do something like that? Except if he was acting on someone's orders but who? The only person it could be is Lorion, my brother but he doesn't even have anything to do under my company. He can't lay his hands on anything here. John hesitated, "She is your ex-wife, sir. What if she came back to do something sinister against you?" He said, "No, John. Thalia won't do anything like that. I trust her." I said with confidence. Thalia can't possibly do anything to hurt me. She was just hurt that I betrayed her and I would do anything to make her forgive me. She came to be the shareholder of my company to remind me of that. Soon, she will be mine again. John nodded slightly and left. I understood his concerns but I wasn't worried at all. If John didn't alternate my calendar, who could have done it? What if there was someone else who has access to it? There was no one except three people. John, Thalia and I. Thalia just arrived. Could she have done that just to frame John? No, she isn't someone like that. She said the alternation occurred and I believed her but I do not believe that John did it. The majority of my work concluded yesterday. There was no need to work overtime today. I checked the time. It was almost 8pm. I took my suit and bag, heading downstairs. With a second thought, I went back upstairs, straight to Thalia's office. I opened the door and it was exactly how it was the last time I came here. The office was once mine. I worked here first when my company hadn't gotten to this point in the country. I worked hard to get to the position I was today. I walked further into the office, checking out the area. She was still the same Thalia I knew. Decent and clean. Her desk barely had anything except the wooden tag of 'shareholder' I opened the drawers gently. There was nothing else there. Except one of them. It was locked. I frowned, staring at the locked drawer. What could be in there? What was Thalia hiding? Important documents? I tried to look for the keys but they weren't even present in the office. She must have taken the keys with her. I stood up, groaning loudly in frustration. My curiosity grew larger by each passing second. What was Thalia hiding? I gave up. I couldn't find the keys. There was no way I would try to break the drawer open. Thalia will get even more angry at me and that wasn't what I needed right now. I decided to leave it be. I was about to leave when I stopped again, turning towards a ninety degree angle. My eyes widened before getting replaced with darkness. A camera. There was a damn camera in Thalia's office. I didn't fix it and I was sure Thalia wouldn't fix a camera just to look at herself. The only one capable of doing something so wrong was – Lorion. My hands clenched into fists. That son of a bitch. He was definitely monitoring Thalia without her knowledge. I knew my wife. She would never allow such a thing because she will count it as making her uncomfortable. What was Lorion's motive? What was he doing watching Thalia with a camera? Or he may have fixed it because of me. He knew I would try to chase Thalia so he wanted to monitor my movements in her office. Very good. It just made things less difficult for me. I stepped closer to the camera, dipping my head sideways slightly. I found what I wanted and rushed out. "John, I need you to do something for me." I called my assistant. But I paused again. Thalia was suspicious of John. Thinking of the camera, there was no way Lorion would have fixed that all by himself. He must have sent someone. Someone who wasn't familiar with the floors of the company couldn't do such clean work as fixing that camera. It must be someone who was inside and the only person who was capable would be John. "Boss?" John called, still on the call. I snapped out of it, "Never mind. I will sort it out myself." I ended the call immediately.Dear Beloved Readers,This is author Moriane. I hope this message finds you well.First and foremost, I want to offer my deepest and most heartfelt apology to every one of you. I’ve been gone for too long. I disappeared without a word, stopped updating my books, and allowed them to close without giving you any explanation. Looking back, I realize how unfair that was to those of you who patiently waited for new chapters, supported my work, and believed in my stories. For that, I am truly sorry. As writers, we often ask readers to invest their time, emotions, and trust in the worlds we create. Many of you followed my books from the very beginning, celebrated every update, left encouraging comments, voted, and constantly motivated me to keep writing. Knowing that I suddenly vanished without even a simple explanation must have been disappointing, and I completely understand if some of you felt hurt or frustrated. Even my editor was disappointed. The truth is that life became far more over
Thalia’s pov I have been pacing around my room for more than an hour. I wasn’t worried because Eirik was with my kids. I was more worried about him finding out he owns my kid. William.William had every single characteristic of Eirik. He only took my eyes. He took every other feature from Eirik. As much as it wasn’t annoying, I couldn’t let Eirik find out I was pregnant before I divorced him.“Why are you worried?” My mom walked in with two trays while she used her leg to close the door.I hurried to help her out by taking one of the trays from her. “What are you talking about?”“I could hear your pacing steps from the kitchen and it almost got on my nerves.” She said, sitting down.I sighed. “I am very worried.”“You can’t hide it from him forever.” She sighed too.I nodded because she was right. “But I don’t think I am ready to let him know.”“Don’t be surprised that William already knows.”The look of worriness disappeared from my face and got replaced with the look of shock. I wa
Mirelle’s povI stood up from the couch, pacing around the one room that I managed to rent. My problems were starting to choke me off badly.I was living in the slums. I hated everything about my life. The strong bricks I had built had crumbled hard. I had no job, no money for food let alone the one to get a good and furnished apartment. If I was still with Eirik, the situation would be different. It was always different. He had a mansion. A well furnished home while I was stuck in this smelly room. Thank goodness an old woman agreed to allow me pack in with such short notice.“Thalia.” I fumed, grinding my teeth hard.I was ruined because of her. She caused all of these. Why did she have to come back into the country? Why? Why did she crawl back into Eirik’s life? Why did she come back, disrupting my plans!I was beyond irritated and angry. The level of anger I felt could not be quenched easily. All my plans…the ones I’ve had since we were in university, there was no way I’d allow i
Eirik's pov I didn't know why Thalia left in a hurry. She didn't even wait to see Ianth. Although, the doctor said he shouldn't be disturbed and that we could likely see him the next day instead.I didn't go home. There was nothing to go back to. I slept on the chair, in front of my son's ward. I was still very afraid for him. He was out of coma but what if something else happened again? My mom who could harm him was already in jail. There was no need for me to be scared for him anymore. I hoped his health would get better and more better without any complications. Morning came like the other night never existed. I was the first to enter Ianth's ward after the doctor ran some checks on him again to make sure he was stable."Dad!" Ianth shouted immediately he saw me.No, he was already up. It didn't even look like he had been in coma except for the fact that he looked really lean. He was already sitting down on the bed, watching television. "Oh, my boy." I hugged him back with so mu
Thalia's povI didn't say anything. I just wanted to enjoy the silent moment as I focused on wiping Ianth's body. It wasn't dirty but that was how I had been doing it for a while now.Ianth was still my son. I was going to take care of him as one. He was sick so I wouldn't abandon him because of that. I needed him to get well quickly. All of a sudden, Ianth suddenly started gasping for breath. His chest rose and fell numerous times. My heartbeat accelerated in fear. I called the doctor quickly. "Rachel, how is it going?" Eirik didn't leave me as he approached the doctor for update.Doctor Rachel exhaled, "Fortunately, he stayed." Doctor Clark said,At first, I didn't understand what he said."Ianth is quite strong. He refused to give up even after so many complications that surrounded his health. But you need to be careful from now on." He added. He stayed meant that he was alive, right?Instant relief flooded my heart. Ianth was fine. He was actually fine."Is he out of coma?" Eir
Eirik's pov"What is next now?" Lorion questioned, walking into the room.I thought he had left. What was he still doing here? He should have gone. I only wanted to be alone for a while. I needed to fully regret my life choices and the kind of consequences I was suffering from."Stop it, Eirik. The main reason why you were in all of these mess has been taken out of the way. Stop sulking, it won't solve anything. What is next?""Nothing, Lorion." I almost snapped at him. "Nothing is next. I do not have anything in mind. I do not even want to do anything. I just want to be alone."Lorion sat on the floor beside where where I sat. "Eirik, I understand how you feel.""No, you don't. I have lost everything except this house we are in. I lost my wife, my son is in the hospital barely alive....I do not have anything else to my name. Nothing is next, Lorion. Everything has fallen."Lorion sighed, "Well, you are wrong. You still have the company.""What are you talking about? I gave the compan
Thalia's povIt didn't surprise me. It didn't exceed my expectations nor was it below it. Mirelle was pregnant with Eirik. What surprised me was why she never got pregnant for the entire three years of my absence.Oh! I forgot. She was pregnant right before I left. I couldn't see any baby anywhere.
Thalia's pov "Ianth...." I shouted, pushing against the nurses who were trying to push me out and close the ward door. "Let me go!"I rushed towards Ianth on the bed, touching his face. "Come on, sweetheart. Mommy is here. Can you hear me?" My tears dropped on his face as I continued shaking and t
Thalia's pov"What? We can't accept that condition." Eirik disagreed.Truthfully, I had foreseen his answer to the condition Rachel gave. Ianth had a thirty percent chance of surviving. It was way too low to spring up hope forth in our hearts. I couldn't accept it as well."What else should we do?
Lorion's povThings are complicated. I didn't expect it to tangle up so quickly. It wasn't part of my plans at all.My brother was my enemy, that was correct. But that didn't mean I should decide to kill his son because of the hatred between us. It made no sense. And Thalia? She doubted me. Ever si
