Throughout the ride back to the Roman Empire. Travis couldn't help but ponder about what had happened a few minutes ago, the minute they got back he came down from the car before unleashing the question that had been bothering him to Manuel.
"Manuel, what did we deliver back there?" He asked Manuel. "Travis, you can't tell anybody about this! Not even your wife. Our job is not actually to deliver those tools in those boxes but drugs, those cargoes with us are filled with drugs." Manuel let out. "Do you mean those were drugs?" Travis yelled in panic. "Would you shut up or keep your voice down? Not everyone in the factory knows about this man," Manuel exclaimed. "Come on Manuel. Why didn't you tell me that you were doing an illegal job here in the city? A drug syndicate for God's Sake." Travis muttered, stunned at what he had just heard. "Because I felt so sorry for you Travis, you were desperately in need of money right? You were even grateful that I brought you here and the boss gave us bonuses today too." Manuel said. "I never wanted to be involved in something illegal. I want a simple job and life." Travis said with worry masked on his attractive face. "It is too late Travis, you are part of this, and if you quit right now. The boss would get suspicious of you and that might get you killed." Manuel warned, making Travis rattle his hair in frustration. They both were too engrossed in their conversation to even notice that one of Mr. Roman's guards was eavesdropping on their whole conversation. The next morning when the workers were about to start their work. Travis stacked all his clothes in his bag to go back to his family in Flevo land but Mr. Roman's guard who had eavesdropped on their conversation with Manuel stopped him. "Where do you think you are going to go, I know you are trying to escape. Ain't you?" He asked Travis who almost flinched. "Oh no, I don't plan on doing that," Travis replied, clenching his back tightly. "You know I have had bad feelings about you. The police must have discovered about the operation last night and it probably didn't go well because of you and now you want to escape," He told Travis. "No sir," Travis muttered simply even if his heart was pounding beneath his chest. "Maybe it was you who told the police." The guard coaxed. "It wasn't me, I swear. I was leaving because I hadn't done anything like this before," Travis let out. "So, what do you have in your bag?" The guard asked Travis who quickly opened his bag. "These are just my clothes, you can take a look." Travis encouraged the guard who walked towards his bag to give a thorough search. "Even after searching your bag. I still want to take you to the boss," the guard said as Travis pushed him hard on the chest making him stagger back. Travis held his bag to escape but he got pulled hard on the shoulder. He turned around before sending multiple punches to the guard's stomach. Who would reckon that Travis could fight but his show off was over when the guard pulled out a knife before flicking it open to show the sharp area.Travis stepped back when the guard tried to cut him. He tried to cut Travis again but this time around Travis held his hand as they both struggled to free the knife."Yes, I'm here in the factory right now, I will be giving you the details." Claudia let out to the caller from the other line but stopped when she saw Travis and her father's personal guard fighting. She was stunned when Travis stabbed the guard on the stomach. "Travis, what is going on over here?" She asked pretentiously like she hadn't just witnessed the whole thing. "Oh my Goodness. Tino." She yelled in panic when she noticed the guard soaked in his own pool of blood. "Hey, what's going on down there?" Few workers began to ask as they headed to the scene. "Travis, what happened?" Manuel asked Travis in panic when he noticed Tino. "What did you do?" Manuel asked with a scowl before touching the guard's pulse. "It__it wasn't my fault," Travis stammered but Claudia patted his shoulder before speaking."Don't worry Travis. I saw everything and you did nothing wrong." She tried to calm him down but Travis was frightened that he had killed someone. "What happened was a mistake and an accident, I swear that I didn't mean to kill him! They might accuse me of killing him." Travis said, making Claudia stare at the now-dead guard. "I love my family very much and I don't want to go to jail," Travis said as he wiped the tears that had unknowingly slipped to his cheeks. Mr.Roman soon appeared on the scene. He sent his workers away leaving just his daughter and Travis with him, he angrily held Travis by the collar before asking him the question that he was curious about."Why did you kill Tino, why did you kill him, you animal?" Mr. Roman asked in rage but his daughter tried to pull him from getting furious with Travis. "Father, father please stop." She begged but her father pushed her away. "Do you know that Tino is one of my most trusted bodyguards in this factory?" Mr. Roman asked. "Father?" Claudia called now on the bridge of cracks. "Travis is really telling the truth. He didn't do anything wrong so you can't send him to jail." Claudia let out, to her father. "Why are you supporting that beast?" Her father asked. "Because he rescued me from your must-trusted guard, Father. Tino was sleazy and he almost forced himself on me." Claudia let out with little sobs. "What?" Her father asked with an uncertain emotion. "It's the truth, Father. Good thing that Travis was there in time to save me but Tino threatened him so Travis defended himself. That's why Travis didn't really mean to murder Tino, it was just an accident and you have to believe me, father." Claudia let out. "Father, he saved your only daughter's life." Claudia let out. "Tino has been my bodyguard for a long time and he would never do that to me," Mr. Roman let out firmly, making Travis tinge his nails. He was damn nervous and scared to go to jail."Father, does that mean you don't believe me?" Claudia let out in tears. "You would rather believe your trusted bodyguard than your own daughter?" Claudia asked her father who didn't allow a word to slip out of his lips as he gazed at the window. "Remember, that I'm the real victim here because one of your men almost raped me." She said as the sob became vital. Mr. Roman abruptly melted to his daughter's words shortly. It was definitely her words against a useless trusted bodyguard. He trudged towards her before placing his both hands on her shoulder giving it a gentle caress to calm her down."Claudia, that's not what your father meant." He muttered."Travis, thank you so much for saving my daughter." Mr. Roman said even if he wasn't still very certain. "I only did what anyone would have done," Travis let out. Mr. Roman gave a simple nod before swirling to leave but Claudia stopped him. "Father, thank you very much." She muttered but he said nothing before leaving. *************M
"Thank you for helping me out in front of your father." Travis let out to Claudia the minutes they were close to the stairs in the factory. "That was nothing but Travis, what were you and Tino fighting about, and tell me why you killed him?" She asked. Travis let out a sigh before speaking."You see Madame, I found out about the drugs that were hidden in the cargo," Travis said, making Claudia stunned and at the same time confused."Drugs were hidden in a cargo?" Claudia asked. "Yes Madam, unfortunately, we don't just deliver ordinary equipment to clients but i discovered that it was drugs. I was really bothered by my conscience so I thought of running away but then Tino confronted me, he thought I was leaving to tell the police." Travis explained. "So my father is involved in the drug syndicate?" Claudia asked."Wait, you didn't know about it?" Travis asked, a bit astonished. "I was having little doubt about the money father keeps bringing to the company but never had it crossed my
Claudia had ended up making Travis to drive her home. The minute they got into the huge mansion she asked him to come inside for a drink which he reluctantly agreed to take. "Here," Claudia said, handing Travis a cup of wine. "Thank you," he replied before sipping from the cup."Thank you so much Travis for taking me home and as well having this drink with me. You are such a caring person and this means a lot to me." Claudia said as they sat at the Italian expensive-looking chair. "Madam, I should be the one thanking you because you still tried to favor and protect me from what I did to Tino," Travis said."Alright, but can you please stop calling me madam? We are friends already. You know what? I'm happy with this new development between us because I was able to find myself a friend like you Travis." Claudia said. "You can imagine how happy I feel to have you here. This is how quiet the house feels ever since my mother passed away, dad was busy with his business to even care. Thin
Travis could not believe that he was expecting a baby from another woman. What was he going to tell his wife? He brought out his wallet before flipping it open. There was a picture positioned neatly on the transparent side. Travis stared at his family picture he had taken way back before he came to the city to work. his hands slowly rubbed the picture, what would he tell jessica?A tear slipped out of his face. He might have told Claudia that he did not have any regret towards the fact that she was pregnant with his child but that was a big fat lie, his wife Jessica was sure going to be very mad at him."Travis, the boss is looking for you." one of the workers said, Travis instantly cleaned his eyes before nodding. Travis' soul had left his body at the thought of seeing Claudia's father. had she told him already? Five Minutes had slowly slipped away.Travis has been standing outside Mr Roman's office for five good minutes. Now he was regretting not holding his hormones back that ver
Jessica and Rose had left for the only bus station in their town. They sat under the shade as they patiently waited for Travis's return, it had been an hour since they got here and there was no sign of Travis. "Mother, is father still going to arrive home today?" Rose asked tiredly. "Don't worry, your father will be coming home today because he made mention of that in the letter he wrote to us. Your father would be here to witness the arrival of your kid sister," Jessica ensured caressing her daughter's shoulder. Soon, there was a bus sound making them sprang up from where they had been sitting. "Mother, that must be, father," Rose muttered happily. The bus halted as the passengers began to get down one after the other. Travis stepped down before striding to his wife and daughter with a wide grin. He kissed his wife on the lips before hauling his daughter up for a tight hug. "We were beginning to doubt that you were ever going to get here," Jessica muttered. "Common, that is very
SIX YEARS LATER The expensive-looking mansion of the Romans was beautifully decorated in balloons and ribbons and a huge poster was visible that read happy birthday. Kids were seen dressed elegantly as they roamed around the garden area in which the party was being held. The adults were seen clustered in another direction chatting as they watched their kids keenly. "Happy birthday Baby, daddy loves you." Travis let out."Happy birthday princess. It's time to make a wish." Claudia let out stooping low to place a kiss on her cheeks. "Thank you so much mother and father, this is a great birthday party and I truly appreciate it. My wish is that we would always be happy mother," Amira let out causing a chuckle to escape Claudia and Travis's lips. "Alright, you can now blow your candles before they burn out," Claudia said urging her daughter who closed her eyes before blowing on the candles. The minutes the candles were blown out, a clap erupted from the crowd. "Come here," Mr. Roman
"It seems like Raya has a weak heart, that's the reason why she gets tired too easily and that's also the main reason she had fainted a while ago," the doctor made known. "But doctor please, is she going to be alright?" Jessica asked. "She would be alright in the main time but sooner or later she needs to undergo an operation because her condition can become very serious if not treated on time!" The doctor explained."Doctor, there is an emergency in room 406." The nurse who clutched a notepad to her grip muttered. "Excuse me, I have to go!" The doctor said,"Thank you so much, doctor," Jessica muttered as she and Emerald stepped out to talk. "Aunt Jessica, we need to call and talk to Travis because he really needs to know about Raya's condition," Emerald said. "Emerald, don't you remember that Travis told me to only call him when it is really important?" Jessica explained. "Of course this is important and I'm quite sure that his boss would understand!" Emerald muttered. """"""'"R
The sun was glittering beneath the sky and the students in high school were seen around because it was break period for them. Rose scurred her eyes around until she finally sighted her friends. "Things would be alright, don't you worry Sia!" Rose's friend Fiona muttered while rubbing Sia's back in a calming way. "Fiona, what happened to her and why is she in tears?" Rose worriedly asked. "You don't know what happened? Uhm!" Her friend muttered rhetorically before sighing. "No! Can you tell me what happened?" Rose asked curiously. "Well, it's because of the rumor and gossip going around school Rose," Fiona muttered, still patting her friend's back softly to calm her down. "What's it about?" Rose asked."Shockingly, you had no idea. Rose, everyone in school knows including the teachers aren't left out! The rumors and gossip are that Sia's father abandoned them!" Fiona muttered as her pair of slanted eyes glared at her friend. "But why did he do that?" Rose asked further with an ope
