CHAPTER 12

Throughout the ride back to the Roman Empire. Travis couldn't help but ponder about what had happened a few minutes ago, the minute they got back he came down from the car before unleashing the question that had been bothering him to Manuel.

"Manuel, what did we deliver back there?" He asked Manuel. "Travis, you can't tell anybody about this! Not even your wife. Our job is not actually to deliver those tools in those boxes but drugs, those cargoes with us are filled with drugs." Manuel let out.

"Do you mean those were drugs?" Travis yelled in panic. "Would you shut up or keep your voice down? Not everyone in the factory knows about this man," Manuel exclaimed.

"Come on Manuel. Why didn't you tell me that you were doing an illegal job here in the city? A drug syndicate for God's Sake." Travis muttered, stunned at what he had just heard.

"Because I felt so sorry for you Travis, you were desperately in need of money right? You were even grateful that I brought you here and the boss gave us bonuses today too." Manuel said.

"I never wanted to be involved in something illegal. I want a simple job and life." Travis said with worry masked on his attractive face. "It is too late Travis, you are part of this, and if you quit right now. The boss would get suspicious of you and that might get you killed." Manuel warned, making Travis rattle his hair in frustration.

They both were too engrossed in their conversation to even notice that one of Mr. Roman's guards was eavesdropping on their whole conversation.

The next morning when the workers were about to start their work. Travis stacked all his clothes in his bag to go back to his family in Flevo land but Mr. Roman's guard who had eavesdropped on their conversation with Manuel stopped him.

"Where do you think you are going to go, I know you are trying to escape. Ain't you?" He asked Travis who almost flinched.

"Oh no, I don't plan on doing that," Travis replied, clenching his back tightly. "You know I have had bad feelings about you. The police must have discovered about the operation last night and it probably didn't go well because of you and now you want to escape," He told Travis.

"No sir," Travis muttered simply even if his heart was pounding beneath his chest.

"Maybe it was you who told the police." The guard coaxed. "It wasn't me, I swear. I was leaving because I hadn't done anything like this before," Travis let out.

"So, what do you have in your bag?" The guard asked Travis who quickly opened his bag. "These are just my clothes, you can take a look." Travis encouraged the guard who walked towards his bag to give a thorough search.

"Even after searching your bag. I still want to take you to the boss," the guard said as Travis pushed him hard on the chest making him stagger back. Travis held his bag to escape but he got pulled hard on the shoulder.

He turned around before sending multiple punches to the guard's stomach. Who would reckon that Travis could fight but his show off was over when the guard pulled out a knife before flicking it open to show the sharp area.

Travis stepped back when the guard tried to cut him. He tried to cut Travis again but this time around Travis held his hand as they both struggled to free the knife.

"Yes, I'm here in the factory right now, I will be giving you the details." Claudia let out to the caller from the other line but stopped when she saw Travis and her father's personal guard fighting. She was stunned when Travis stabbed the guard on the stomach.

"Travis, what is going on over here?" She asked pretentiously like she hadn't just witnessed the whole thing. "Oh my Goodness. Tino." She yelled in panic when she noticed the guard soaked in his own pool of blood.

"Hey, what's going on down there?" Few workers began to ask as they headed to the scene. "Travis, what happened?" Manuel asked Travis in panic when he noticed Tino.

"What did you do?" Manuel asked with a scowl before touching the guard's pulse. "It__it wasn't my fault," Travis stammered but Claudia patted his shoulder before speaking.

"Don't worry Travis. I saw everything and you did nothing wrong." She tried to calm him down but Travis was frightened that he had killed someone.

"What happened was a mistake and an accident, I swear that I didn't mean to kill him! They might accuse me of killing him." Travis said, making Claudia stare at the now-dead guard.

"I love my family very much and I don't want to go to jail," Travis said as he wiped the tears that had unknowingly slipped to his cheeks.

Mr.Roman soon appeared on the scene. He sent his workers away leaving just his daughter and Travis with him, he angrily held Travis by the collar before asking him the question that he was curious about.

"Why did you kill Tino, why did you kill him, you animal?" Mr. Roman asked in rage but his daughter tried to pull him from getting furious with Travis.

"Father, father please stop." She begged but her father pushed her away. "Do you know that Tino is one of my most trusted bodyguards in this factory?" Mr. Roman asked.

"Father?" Claudia called now on the bridge of cracks. "Travis is really telling the truth. He didn't do anything wrong so you can't send him to jail." Claudia let out, to her father.

"Why are you supporting that beast?" Her father asked. "Because he rescued me from your must-trusted guard, Father. Tino was sleazy and he almost forced himself on me." Claudia let out with little sobs.

"What?" Her father asked with an uncertain emotion. "It's the truth, Father. Good thing that Travis was there in time to save me but Tino threatened him so Travis defended himself. That's why Travis didn't really mean to murder Tino, it was just an accident and you have to believe me, father." Claudia let out.

"Father, he saved your only daughter's life." Claudia let out.

"Tino has been my bodyguard for a long time and he would never do that to me," Mr. Roman let out firmly, making Travis tinge his nails. He was damn nervous and scared to go to jail.
