As I came by the living room in Lorenzo’s house, I saw a big box on the center table.

Realizing it was the box in the picture, the box I had gone to the Ramos’ house for, I hurried up to it.

I also found my handbag on the table. Sitting on the couch, I reached for the box, cradling it in my arms.

I opened it, picking up each piece, recalling my mother smiling while she put them on, tears spilled from my eyes.

I finally had this part of her, I sniffed, I missed her so much. I wish her life wasn’t cut short. I wished she was still here.

I held up her family’s heirloom and brought it closer to my chest. You’ll always be in my heart forever, mom.

Hearing footsteps, I wiped my cheeks and looked sideways.

I saw an older woman whom I had briefly met before. She was Lorenzo’s housekeeper and main chef, Delfina.
