I shook my head several times.
“Her heart was weak since birth, so she needed a heart transplant. Before moving to this apartment, Emma already had a new heart. Bella said an angel helped them,” one of the community members replied.
An angel? Not an angel, but my husband.
Before they moved to their current apartment? That means it happened about two years ago. And that means Jason had been in contact with her long before that.
Oh, God.
If he didn’t love me, why did he ask me to marry him?
“She’s really lucky to have met her guardian angel. But strangely, Mike gave a different answer,” another community member said. Suddenly, all eyes were on her. We were all waiting for her explanation.
“Did you ask Mike?” Jennifer asked to confirm. The woman who made the statement nodded. She looked confident.
“What did Mike say?” I asked curiously.
“Mike said that Bella’s parents paid for Emma’s heart surgery. Those are two conflicting answers, right?” Everyone nodded in agreement.
“He’s pretty strange. I mean, his family is mysterious,” one of the community members remarked.
“Maybe we should stop talking about his family. How about we go shopping at the mall after this?” Jennifer suggested. All the women present immediately agreed, except me, who remained silent and drifted back into my thoughts.
Why did Mike give different answers? Could it be that Mike knew nothing, or did he know but choose to ignore it? But what kind of man would willingly share his wife with another man? I couldn’t think anymore. However, at least I already knew the answer to the insurance question.
That night, it was already nine o’clock, but Jason still hadn’t come home. I tried to call him, but he rejected my call. I tried to be patient. Suddenly, a message from Jason came in.
“I am still at the office. I have a lot of work to do,” he wrote.
I read the message repeatedly. It was a cold message. He didn’t know how worried Jensen and I were about him.
A few days ago, I saved the cell phone numbers of some of his coworkers. After considering several things, I sent a message to a woman named Kimmy. I had met her several times at company parties. However, before I sent the message to Kimmy, I replied to Jason’s message first.
“Don’t forget to eat. I’m waiting for you to come home,” I replied.
Then, I hurriedly sent a message to Kimmy asking about Jason’s condition since he was working overtime that night. I couldn’t ask her directly because I was worried she would tell Jason.
However, Kimmy’s answer was completely different. She said that her company had not required overtime for a long time because they had hired additional staff.
Once again, I faced a harsh reality. My suspicions were correct. Jason must be with Bella somewhere.
The rain fell heavily that night, accompanied by strong winds that rattled the windows of my living room. Time kept passing, but Jason still hadn’t come home.
What should I do?
Suddenly, a crazy idea popped into my head. Maybe I could go down to the fifth floor and check the situation around Bella’s apartment.
Something urged me to make this idea a reality. This curiosity was killing me. I rushed into my room, changed clothes, and put on a thick sweater to protect myself from the cold.
Before leaving, I checked on Jensen first. I saw he was still fast asleep. Before leaving his bedroom, I tidied up the blanket that was scattered around so Jensen wouldn’t get cold.
Seeing Jensen’s innocent face made me feel guilty. After all, he deserved a perfect family.
But I couldn’t make that happen for him because this marriage was becoming increasingly meaningless.
After closing Jensen’s door, I hurried out and locked the door behind me. Bella’s apartment was close to the elevator, so I went down to the fifth floor via the emergency staircase even though I didn’t feel very comfortable using it because it was silent and the lights weren’t dazzling.
However, something different happened in the emergency stairwell. The lights were brighter, and there were several evacuation warning signs for earthquakes, etc., so it didn’t look scary.
I slowly descended the stairs and hid behind the wall separating the stairwell from the residential units. The area in front of Bella’s apartment looked deserted, but the lights inside were on.
I couldn’t get any closer. If Bella or Mike suddenly came out, all my efforts would be in vain. But it seemed like fate was on my side, opening my eyes wider and clearing my mind to see the truth.
Jason and Bella came out of the door, kissing passionately. Even Bella’s top was half-open. But that wasn’t the worst part.
Our apartment was exclusive, and amid such heavy rain, all the residents would certainly prefer to stay indoors rather than spend time outside.
So, the night was quiet. Even mosquitoes weren’t visible flying around us.
With my eyes wide open, I saw Jason kissing Bella’s upper body with passion. Then, his hand slipped inside her skirt, and a moment later, he pulled off Bella’s white underwear and let it lie on the floor.
Oh, God.
However, what was about to happen was far worse than the worst. Jason slipped inside Bella’s wide skirt. Bella’s legs were spread wide open. Soon after, Bella let out a long moan while closing her eyes. Occasionally, her hands squeezed her breasts.
Jason preferred spending time with Bella rather than with me or Jensen.
I couldn’t bear to watch that hot and disgusting scene any longer. We hadn’t had sex for almost two weeks. I was sure he was having an amazing sexual experience with Bella compared to me, a fat and unattractive woman.
Finally, I left them and go back to my apartment. But the tears wouldn’t stop falling. I had to wipe them away before Jason or Jensen saw them.
However, the longer I tried to hold back my tears, the more they flowed. My heart ached so much that I couldn’t walk up the stairs.
Jason, you’re evil! How could you destroy me like this, making my life seem meaningless?
Just as I was trying to muster the strength to go up to the sixth floor, Mike appeared and stepped out of the elevator. He looked shocked to see me sitting on the floor in a position as if I had fallen.
“Mrs. Howard, are you okay?” he called out. At that moment, he was carrying two large packages. As soon as he saw me, he placed the packages on the floor and ran toward me.
Chris Walker“What’s the next step, sir?” Mark asked.“Book a bedroom and a hot springs room next to them. If the hotel asks for more money, just pay it.”“Okay, sir.” Mark hurried into the hotel. I waited in the car.“Hopefully. This hotel doesn’t seem too busy,” I muttered. Compared to other hotels, the hotel where Lisa was staying didn’t look busy, despite being the largest and most magnificent building among them. Maybe the price was a factor.Half an hour later, Mark returned. “Everything is ready, sir.”“Good job, Mark.”We both hurriedly took our suitcases out of the trunk and checked in. After that, we went into the room to make our next plan.“Have you prepared someone to spy on them?” I asked.“Yes. She applied for a server job here and is serving in the hot springs section,” Mark said.“Okay. You can always be relied upon.”“You can wait here while our people take some photos as evidence. I’ll ask her to get ready. Mrs. Walker is staying in the room right next to ours,” Mar
Chris WalkerWhen Lisa finished her conversation with someone on the phone, I rushed into the bathroom and pretended to have just woken up.I heard the bedroom door open and realized Lisa was checking the bathroom. “You’re awake.”I was brushing my teeth. To confirm her statement, I nodded. Satisfied with my answer, she left.Coming out of the bathroom, I saw her busy typing something on her cell phone. I tried to ask her. “Are you going away for long?”Lisa looked up. “Why do you think that?”She pretended to be innocent. Everything was obvious from her suitcase. “Your suitcase is huge. Where are you going this time?”She was silent for a moment. It seemed she didn’t expect me to ask such a detailed question. I waited patiently for her answer. “Hmm. I’m going on vacation to Sunnyville with my friends for a few days. Is there a problem? You rarely ask such detailed questions.”Maybe in the past, I wouldn’t have asked such detailed questions because I trusted her completely and didn’t
Hannah“Yes. They have a daughter named Emma. I did a DNA test of Emma and Jason. Ironic, isn’t it?” I laughed cynically.“Sorry to hear that. Did you know they’ve been together for nine years?” Mia asked, surprising me.Nine years? That means it was before Jason and I were married. We were still dating and planning to get married. How could that be?“I-I don’t know. Nine years is a very long time. How could that be?”Mia stared at her empty glass, seeming hesitant to tell me. I could see she regretted asking me that question. “Mia?”She looked up and replied. “Yes. Sorry. I was curious about their past and discovered this shocking fact. Jason and Bella had been in a relationship for nine years. Unfortunately, Jason’s mother never liked Bella because of her background and past. It was a dark past that only her family knew about. However, fate had other plans. When a relative of Bella’s, who knew Jason’s mother, told her the long-hidden secret. Since finding out about it, Jason’s mothe
Hannah“I don’t care what you think of me. My only concern is Jensen’s well-being. I will ensure he has everything he needs and can continue at the best school, even if it means doing everything alone. Even if I die, I will never ask you for anything, because I don’t want you to think I need your help. Our relationship is over, and I want us to live our own lives without interfering with each other. I hope you will be happy with Bella. Have a nice day.” I waved at him, gave him a big smile full of happiness, and left his room. There was no reason for me to be sad or continue to wallow in self-pity because the man I once loved had cheated on me. I had loved Jason with all my heart because from the moment I first met him; he was the only man who filled the void in my heart. He was the only man who seemed to understand the difficulties I faced as a child raised by a single parent.I thought he really understood, but it turned out to be all a deception. If he really understood how I felt,
HannahI hurried to customer service and explained why I was there. One of the customer service representatives was on the phone. She spoke for quite a while. A few minutes later, she came over and let me go up to the fifth floor. Jason’s office was on the fifth floor.I got into the elevator just as the doors were about to close. Apparently, the elevator was already quite full. They seemed to be company employees. When I got in, all eyes were on me, from the tips of my shoes to the top of my head. However, that was not all. I knew that some of them liked the scent of my perfume. It was a famous brand that was quite expensive. But I did not buy the perfume. April gave me a set of perfumes as a Christmas present.Sometimes I think people might think I have a big salary or a lot of money in my bank account because I wear famous-brand clothes, shoes, bags, accessories, and even perfume. Everything is from famous brands. But I didn’t buy any of those things. Most of my things are gifts fr
Hannah“If that’s what he wants, let him go. You don’t need a man who doesn’t love you. Don’t worry about Jensen’s college fees. My savings and pension fund can cover them. You’re working now, so don’t be afraid or overthink things. I’ll always be by your side. Sign the divorce papers and deliver them to his office tomorrow. Show him you’re not weak. I raised you with love and values. You have value. Understand?” Mom said.I stood frozen, staring at my mom, who was burning like a huge fire. I had never seen her so angry. She must have felt pain when she saw me in pain. What I had experienced brought back bitter memories of the past. I was sure my mom didn’t want me to sink into sadness like she did.“Hannah, answer me. Do you understand?” she asked, her eyes sharp and shining like a soldier ready for battle.I nodded, and tears welled up in my eyes. My throat was tight, and it felt like all the words were stuck inside. Mom pulled me into her arms. I cried in her embrace for quite a lo
