How disappointing.

There was no better word to express how he was feeling.

After all these years of searching, of all the beings he could have paired with, the universe had to give him a human mate.

Not just a feeble human, but a prostitute woman.

The lowest of the low.

He had always imagined his Luna to be a proud wolf with strength to dominate and command respect. Someone who would rule beside him and both of them would be a formidable force. Conquering all his enemies and exerting order in Plane Woede and all its hinter lands.

He could have gladly accepted other worldly beings like a shapeshifter, a siren, a fey, a phantom or even a nymph if it meant that their life span was long and amortal. Their strength was well matched to that of a werewolf and they all had their individual strengths. He would have still managed an Omega, the lowest of the ranks, the weakest in the pack. Provided she was a wolf, he would accept his fate.

But what was he to do with a mere human? They could easily die from a cold, or just from food poisoning. They could dislocate an arm from exercising, or snap a femur just from running too much.

Damn it, she could die from childbirth.

How would she even birth his child?

Perhaps, he might have not been this upset if she was a regular human girl.

Disappointed? Yes.

But not only was she human, she was selling herself to men at bars.

The lowest of the low.

It was downright upsetting as it was disappointing.

Surely, there was a mistake somewhere. She could not be his mate.

Wayne thought to himself as he made his way through the stony path that led up to a thatched tree house.

Misty Plane was an alternate universe tethered to earth, just like that of the wolves. It shared celestial bodies with the galaxies, but existed within its own atmosphere. Though here the weather was always cloudy, with no visible sunlight in the sky. Mists swirled around and obscured the general surroundings, so that only 100 meters could be seen within 360 degrees vantage point.

This plane was home to the phantoms, an ethereal spectral of beings that had the ability to switch their bodies between solid form and floating specters. They could pass through walls, objects or people in their spectral state and could create mists to hide themselves from their enemies.

Wayne had walked this path so many times in recent years that he could find it with his eyes closed in the dark. He heard the clanking of pots from this distance and a faint smile spread his lips.

Sabine was home.

Approaching the ladder that led up to the small thatched house tucked between two trees, he put one leg on the bottom step and jumped with ease to the door porch. Landing seamlessly like a cat, he turned the old door handle and walked into the old tree house.

The interior was nothing like the exterior of the house. While outside looked to be made of old wood and a thatch straw roof, inside was a specious house made of modern brick walls, a PVC ceiling and modern furnishings.

Wayne was surprised the first time he had set foot into this house; it was a total mirage from the outside. No one would expect such a lavish interior from an old tree house.

Sabine the Seer, was famous for her mastery in the dak arts of illusion, mystical potions and the gift of foresight.

“Someone doesn’t seem too excited,” she murmured from her position over the stove without looking over her shoulder.

Wayne was silent as he went to take a sit on a bar stool in front of her kitchen island.

“I told you to leave a voicemail before coming to see me. What if I was not home?” she grumbled.

Wayne shrugged a shoulder.

“I gave you the bead for a reason Wayne Wyatt,” she said steering the contents of her pot for the last time before turning around to face him.

“I told you to twist the bead around and tell me your coming, it would turn red if I am home. Over here it will turn red indicating I have a visitor,” she said pointing to a band of black beads around his left wrist.

He narrowed his eyes at her.

“Okay whatever, just barge in here whenever you like,” she said wiping her hands on her apron and taking a sit opposite him.

“I assume you know why I am here,” he said leveling her with an unamused look.

“Wayne I am only a messenger. I told you what the gods revealed to me. You were to be at the bar on Wolven street, Nashville Tennessee at 7pm on the dot to meet your mate named Candice. All I got was a location, time and a name,” she explained.

“Nothing else?” he urged.

“Nothing else,” she affirmed.

“You could have been mistaken,” he said feeling uneasy.

“The bones are never wrong Wayne Wyatt,” she said dryly.

“But she is human! How can my mate be a human?” he got up and began to pace the length of the room.

“It’s only normal that she is human considering the fact that her location was on the earth plane,” Sabine said.

“But other beings travel the earth constantly. I travel earth too, does that make me human?” he argued.

“Do not blame me, I have no power in this matter. The universe makes the match, I only assist those who find it difficult to locate their mates,” she sighed softly.

“Ask the bones again, maybe there was a mistake the last time,” he ran his fingers through his hair, his frustration visible.

“The bones would not speak unless it was sure!” Sabine countered offended.

“How many years I have searched, visited many planes, sought out powerful witches and sorcerers. I have paid in gold and silver, in precious relics and rare antiques. All for what exactly? A human?”

“We each have our strengths, do not underestimate what the universe provides,” she tried to sooth him.

“Then why has my inner wolf not recognized her? I do not feel it reaching for her, clamoring to claim her. Not even a flicker of feeling, what I only feel is disgust,” he bit out in anger.

“If only you can put aside your dissatisfaction, perhaps you might see some nice qualities in her,” Sabine encouraged.

“All I can see right now is a means to an end. I need her mortal body to birth me an heir, so I can solidify my claim on my throne. My position as Alpha of the pack will remain open to challenge if I do not have my Luna by my side and an heir to carry on my line,” he mused.

Waylon Wyatt, his exiled uncle had challenged his throne twice already in the past years.

Two fierce battles filled with blood baths and death. He had lost good people in those wars, people he loved and cherished.

Just a year after the death of his father, his uncle, his father’s younger brother had tried to oust him and his mother from the royal bloodline to become the new Alpha.

He had resisted him despite being a young wolf with the help of his father’s right-hand man, a high-ranking warrior. His father had named him his Beta, the second in command after himself. This had made his uncle distraught and full of jealousy. Wayne knew his father had done that to put his uncle in check once he was no longer alive, it was no secret that his uncle desperately coveted the throne. The battle had been fierce, but victory was theirs.

Sadly, he had lost his mother in the fray of the battles.

After that battle, his uncle had been exiled out of the realm with all other wolves who had betrayed them.

The second battle was fifty years later, when his uncle had managed to re-group and come back for another challenge. This time around he was now grown and had fought ruthlessly against him, but the attack was unexpected and he had little or no time for preparation. His father’s right-hand man, who was the lead warrior, died trying to protect him, now his son had assumed that position.

He would not let any weak link cost him the lives of those he loved and had sworn to protect as the protector of the realm. No mistake was allowed to be made, he would always be prepared for any and every attack. He would take precautions if necessary and would always be one step ahead of his enemies.

Over the years, he had kept tabs on his uncles’ movements and actions, hiding spies on every plane. He was not ashamed to use the dark arts, even though werewolves shunned anything diabolical. He would do anything and everything to protect his realm from malicious invaders. So, when he had heard that his uncle was looking for his Luna to capture her and use her as leverage against him, he intensified his search for her. Scouring the different planes of the universe to find her first before his uncle did.

Now he had found her, but of what use was she to him or the pack?

Well, Sabine said he should look on the bright side. The only benefit he was going to get out of this was having her play Luna until she births his child. Then he could set her aside and take a more deserving wolf as queen who would rule beside him and solidify his position.

A chilling sensation of relief washed over him as he found himself grinning to the resolve he just made.

An unwelcome question creeped into his mind, stalling his relief.

How would she birth his child when she was only human?

A frown creased his forehead, replacing the previous smile.

  • My Lord Alpha   Chapter 182: The Universe Wins

Wayne strolled along the shores of the ocean. The sun had begun to set in the west, casting streaks of red, yellow, and gold over the horizon. He had just come back from his office in the city. Happy that the day had finally come to an end and he could return back to her embrace. Yet when he came back, he could not find her anywhere in the house until Earnest had told him she was by the ocean bank. He rushed out of the house, eager to get to her. It was funny how he spent every morning waking up next to her, but he couldn't seem to get enough of her. As he drew close, he saw her sitting on the sand by the shore. Her beautiful long golden hair flew in the wind, she was still wearing the white long-sleeve dress she wore to the assembly and her hands held some river rocks. She threw it into the ocean and watched it skid along the waves before sinking. She looked so peaceful and content, that for a moment he contemplated interrupting her quiet time. As he looked at her, he wished h

A month later. The Assembly Head Quarters.Central City, Plane Weode.Wayne and Candice stood before the great assembly. From the last time she had been here, their chairs looked shorter. It was no more elevated on a pillar, where they sat and looked down from their high positions to judge the matters of the plane.Five simple stone chairs replaced the former ones, and four seats were occupied by the elders, except one.Which was meant for Aragon.Sadly, the millennia-old elder had died the next day after their visit to him.He was buried immediately as was their tradition and a month was taken to mourn his passing. The period of mourning was over and business had resumed as usual. That was why Wayne and her had appeared before the council. They had an agenda and wanted to move forward with their plans."Finally, my queen, you grace us with your presence," Augustus said very pleased."What took you out of the plane for five weeks?" Thaddeus demanded impatiently. She smiled within hers

"W-Wayne, is that you?" Aragon called in a shrill voice."Yes, it is I, Wayne," he answered, and walked over to his bedside."I sense another with you, is that our queen, Candice?" Aragon asked.Dear lord, it seemed he had lost his sight as well. He could not see her, but could smell her."Yes, she wanted to come with me, so she could bid you well on your journey," Wayne responded."You must be shocked to see me like this," Aragon said after a few minutes. She saw her husband hold his breath, trying his best not to sound emotional. Then he let it out in a rush and assumed a playful attitude. "I see you have the Waste. You have lost your charm old man."The waste?Aragon tried to laugh, but he started to cough. So, Wayne held him up and rubbed down his back. When the cough had receded, he managed to say "The waste comes for all amortals at an old age, who refuse to die. No matter how hard I try, I would have eventually lost my attractive looks."Wayne shook his head "You could have fou

5 days later.Candice folded her arms under her breasts as she stood gazing at the piece of art hung on the wall, in the living area. The more she looked at it, the more it looked lacking."Are there no better choices?" She complained to Earnest, who stood next to her staring at the frame."What is wrong with it, Your Highness? This and others were procured from one of our most famous artists in the city central city. The work is flawless," Earnest informed her."I said I wanted frames with flowers and sunlight, all the beauty of nature. Not a dark grey canvas with stripes," she complained."But we have enough flowers outside the house and the sunlight filters in to brighten up the place properly. Do you not see that this canvas is sophisticated, eloquent, and better suited to the design of the mansion?" He argued.Candice eyed the ugly frame and looked at the other frames packed to the side, waiting for her instructions to hang them in her desired locations."I am trying to make the

"Candice wake up, you are dreaming!" the masculine voice sounded agitated, and she felt her self been shaken vigorously.Still in the throes of her sleep, she pushed away whoever was shaking her. Then she bolted up from the bed as she awakened. She blinked as she started to come to.She was back to her room on plane Weode, with no strange-speaking people and no bears around. It was all a dream, thank God."Candice, are you okay?" Wayne asked."I am fine-" she started to say but did not see him in bed when she looked around the room. She found him on the ground, close to the balcony divide."What are you doing over there? Why are you not in bed?" She frowned."You pushed me here," he said as he got to his feet."I did?" She replied surprised. "How can I push you that far?""Confounds me as well. You were screaming in your sleep and struggling, so I tried to wake you up and you shoved me away," Wayne said casually as he walked back to the bed."How is that even possible?" She chuckled.

"Ready yourselves, we match to the battlefield in a bit," A man dressed in animal fur and leather announced to a group of people that dwelled in tents as he took hold of a battle axe.Candice looked around her confused. She was in some sort of settlement; among people she had never seen before. They were speaking a strange language, foreign and old. And yet somehow, she understood them."The Irish people approach, we should leave the camp," a woman with her hair scraped off at both sides, and a braid down the center of her head spoke up. She wielded a sword in her hand and was dressed like the man.In fact, all of them were dressed in animal fur coats with dry hydes for tops and gathers for lower pants. They carried shields, spears, swords, and axes in their hands. It was as if they were going into battle. The place looked so old and dated. They practically lived in tents and wore unprocessed animal hyde and had logs for fire in the middle of their settlement. There was heavy snow eve
