Chapter 4

CONRI'S POV

I found it amusing to see Daciana's astonished expression. Never was she expecting me to say something like that.

She had been deceived, deluded, and wronged. And her explanation made it obvious to me that she needed my help. I had to admit that this mission was also my way of getting even with what they did to me. I wouldn't want her to go through what I did. Thus, I have to consider this assignment to be my revenge.

“How would that be possible? I mean, how am I going to get a new identity?” Daciana frantically asked these questions.

“Relax. You have to calm down, and we will do this together and come out victorious.” I soothed her calmly.

“I'm not sure about it. I really don't want to get back to the pack. I'm on their wanted list right now, and I really don't want to die. At least not now.” She pleaded softly.

I looked at her pleading eyes and smirked lightly. She probably didn't know how I already had all these planned out. That was the last thing standing in the way of my retaliation.

“Believe me when I say that everything will proceed as planned. You would be given a different identity, and we would return to steal what is truly yours.” She nodded in response to my serious statement.

“What will the identity be like? Would I possibly have surgery or a face makeover?” She questioned naively.

“Of course not. I would call in my military camp's greatest makeover artist to assist you. He has been a big assistance in keeping the rest of the Army and myself hidden. You can be confident that nobody will notice you.” I gave her a gentle back pat.

“What are the chances that all these would be successful?” She questioned, a little nervous.

“Just accept to be my mate. You really don't need to do anything more. But one thing is certain: I would personally train you to be the best.” I smiled warmly at her.

Daciana looked at me for a while as she thought of the particular words to spit out. I could feel she was trying to think of the offer I laid down for her. Deep down, I really wanted her to accept. If she did, all my dreams would finally come through.

“Alright! As long as my safety is guaranteed, I will seek my revenge and become your mate. I would be glad if you trained me to be more competent and strong. I hate being looked down upon.” She sighed sadly.

“You don't have to worry about that, and you will soon be the envy of all female wolves.” I patted her back softly and stood up.

She raised her head and wondered what had happened.

“Why did you suddenly stand up? Uhm, where are you going?” She asked anxiously.

It was so obvious that Daciana hadn't fully trusted me. Though a little hurt, I understood why she had to act that way. She had really gone through a lot, not to feel traumatized.

“Look,” I started. ”I am never going to leave you or betray you. I just need you to trust me.” I whispered.

Daciana looked straight into my eyes, trying to search if I was genuinely saying all this. She smiled a bit before sighing. Seems she found what she was looking for.

“Well, I have to get going. I'd send someone to get your food. You look so skinny and vulnerable. And you have to eat to get enough energy for training.” I said, calmly setting to leave.

I was about to open the door when I heard her call my name. Not only that, but I turned back to look at the fidgeting Daciana and smiled.

“You called me?” I asked.

“Well, yes. Uhm. I just want to let you know how grateful I am. I sincerely appreciate your kind gestures towards me. And I hope our aim will come out successful.” She said as she smiled warmly.

For a moment, I was captivated by her lovely smile, and then I realized how beautiful and mature she had become. Even though she looked a bit tattered, her beauty wasn't affected. My eyes scanned her battered body, and I repulsively clenched my fist.

Those nincompoops would pay for it. How could they even feel she was a rogue? All to impress me, they ended up terribly beating a beta's daughter. They would be punished gravely.

I growled out mistakenly, which made her shriek and brought me out of my thoughts.

“Are you okay?” She asked, feeling a bit scared.

“I was just in my thoughts. My apologies. I shall take my leave now.” I bowed slightly before stepping out.

Once I was out, I sighed heavily. Her frightened face appeared in my mind again, and I couldn't help but frown. Marching towards the army's quarters, I summoned every army, and they hurriedly rushed out and stood in order.

“Those of you who caught Beta's daughter should step out now!” I shouted authoritatively.

I could feel the fear that emanated from every angle. All knew those people were in trouble.

Almost immediately, a few soldiers stepped out with their heads bowed down in shame.

“Have you seen what? I want to please the general, has landed you in?” I asked disdainfully.

“Soldiers! This set of soldiers did a great thing and a bad thing at the same time.” I shouted to the rest of the soldiers, and plenty of confused faces and murmuring could be seen and heard.

“You all would be thinking as to why I said so. The great thing they did was by bringing her to me. She is someone special, and I have looked forward to seeing her for a very long time now. The bad thing they did was to terribly beat her.” I said the last part in anger.

“Even if she were a rogue, is that how I trained my soldiers to beat every female wolf? Where were your manners and thoughts as you gave her those marks on her body?” I asked furiously.

“But… General…I.” One among them stuttered.

“You what? You have no reasonable explanation to save yourself from the punishment you deserve!” I said as more anger surged through my body.

“Take them to the dungeon and 100 lashes if the whip should be violently given to them. At least you would understand how it feels to get whipped in that manner.” I growled loudly.

"Please temper justice with mercy, General. We thought a spy had come from the other packs to monitor us. You also told us some time ago that they could use any form of weaponry to get to us." One of them summoned up the courage to speak as he pleaded.

For a moment, I felt he was right. But on second thought, the picture of her battered body came into view, and I got very angry again.

"Take them away now!" I commanded in an angry tone.

After a while of calming myself, I decided to speak to my army about what I had in mind.

"Soldiers! Some of you might be thinking of how and why I'm acting this way. A lot of you might as well have unanswered questions. The lady in the inner chamber would join us in training. She is now one of us, and I want you all to treat and respect her the right way! And anyone who speaks ill of her or informs the outside world about her would be penalized brutally." I spoke sternly.

"Yes. General." Everyone chorused.

"Good! Now retreat from my presence." I commanded.

Immediately, the soldiers scurried away to continue their activities.

I walked towards the dungeon to have a glimpse at the punishments those soldiers were receiving.

They feigned boldness as they were severely whipped, but I could sense their anguish, and it made me feel at ease, knowing that I did something for her.

I tuk softly and twisted my lips.

This was how I wanted everyone who offended me to suffer.

I would make sure this revenge would be one to remember for a lifetime.
