Cassie POV

The police were at the club when I arrived, talking in serious voices to Damian who looked exhausted.

“I told your colleagues already,” I heard him say clearly, “the cameras on that side of the club stopped working a few days before Jessie was murdered. I was planning on getting a technician out, but it wasn't on my priority list because I wasn't expecting something like that to happen.”

The short and scrawny officer, who somewhat resembled a Jack Russell in his approach, immediately countered Damian's explanation. “Oh, so you're saying you didn't bother to have the cameras changed even though they suspiciously all stopped working at the same time. Rather convenient, isn't it?”
