Chapter 5

The atmosphere in the car was highly gloomy; the other man and I always kept silent. Contrary to the usual smile on his lips when entering the wedding, Marcus is a freezing person. He just took the initiative to say a few sentences to me on assignment, and I just replied politely, and then it ended in less than five sentences.

I put my hands on my hands and looked out the window, watching the scenery outside constantly moving, but my heart was empty. The rain was getting heavier and heavier, like the sky was crying for me.

Our car gradually went deeper into Pack territory; I realized this because, on the way, there were many times I saw the flag representing Blood Moon. This place used to be called S-Moon; Pack is small, but its natural resources are affluent. Many people were trying to take it, including Blue Moon, but no one could trespass because of the rugged terrain. But three months ago, it belonged to Elias; what is more impressive, he readily took it in one night and renamed the land just now Blood Moon.

Thanks to that, Elias became famous everywhere. His power is like a plague, spreading quickly and powerfully. I clenched my fist and started thinking about how to deal with him next. Every time I think about it, I get a headache.

"I think I should warn you about this." Marcus is serious. "Alpha is very cold; it is best not to provoke him. You should follow his every command if you want a better life."

I didn't reply and silently agreed. It's not difficult because I've also had to look at other people's faces and live for 18 years, so what's so tricky about enduring one more person now? I don't have many expectations for the future; just wishing to live is enough.

The car also stopped. The rain outside was less aggressive, only a little faint but enough to wet the clothes.

Marcus got out of the car and handed me an umbrella. "I have work to do now. My mission was to get you here, and now that I'm done, there's no reason to stay either."

I took the umbrella and nodded.

Standing in front of the vast mansion, I froze for a moment. This place is more prominent and more majestic than I imagined. If Marcus hadn't said it was Elias' private residence, I would have assumed I was lost in a gigantic 19th-century structure. The mansion was built in an old style and was last refurbished years ago. The outside was covered with moss, plus it was raining, and the sky was cloudy; it was like a haunted house.

I also need to understand why Alpha Elias chose this place as his only resting place. While he has taken over Red Moon territory, he can move into the former Alpha's beachfront mansion and enjoy life.

I walked straight inside, and when I was shaking off the water droplets on my body, I saw a man sitting in the living room. I could only see his back, and an animal wrapped around his neck scared me.

In my life, I am most afraid of animals without legs, especially snakes.

But that man played with the snake on his neck like a pet. As if sensing my fear, the man slowly turned around. Stunned, I stared at him for a moment. Those are the most beautiful men I have ever met. God endowed him with a perfect, spotless face. His long narrow eyes glint with endless danger, and they're fixed on me like they're inspecting an item.

His attitude unnerved me, and the snake on him made me shiver.

"Are you Stella? Ryder's accursed daughter?" His cold voice was in stark contrast to that perfect face.

I almost shook my head but suddenly remembered that I was using Stella's identity to get married, so I hesitantly nodded.

"People say you're stupid, I had some doubts, but now it seems the rumors are true." He sarcastically me.

I ignored the mockery and asked in return. "Are you Elias?"

"Do you think there is anyone else in this place but me? Your husband." Elias emphasized, then smiled faintly, sending a ripple on my back.

Standing before this man, I felt my remaining self-confidence disappear like a sponge. His eyes were like a laser beam shining through my body.

Elias stood up; I discovered he was much taller than I had imagined. He let the snake comfortably crawl on his muscular arm and slowly walked before me. Step by step, I feel like death is approaching.

I took a deep breath, staring at the snake without daring to move.

Seeing my tension, Elias laughed mockingly; he purposely let the snake crawl to my neck. Its slick and cold feel clung to every inch of my skin.

'Oh my God, I could have a heart attack and collapse at any moment.' I cried inside.

Elias curled the corners of his thin lips coldly. "Do not be afraid. This snake is poisonous but not scary; at least its poison has an antidote. But some people have a malicious heart that can't be predicted; even when they are stabbed, they don't know who caused it, then it's over."

I frowned; I didn't understand his crazy words. I just felt that if I maintained this state a little longer, I would die before the snake bit me.

"If you're implying something, just say it out loud, don't go around wasting time," I say.

Elias collected the snake in his hand, then looked at me with murderous eyes. "Listen well here. I, Elias Lawrence of the Blood Moon Pack, reject you. I married you simply for some reluctant reason; never be delusional about your position. You come to Blood Moon as a hostage, an enslaved person; don't consider yourself Luna of the Pack. Don't even think about seducing me. If I find out you did something that makes me unhappy, the punishment that awaits you is terrible."

My back was cold, and under Elias's threats, I felt deeply humiliated.

I take all possible consequences lightly, I snorted and said firmly. "Listen well too. You don't see me as a wife; I don't see you as a husband; I never seduce you. Being next to you, I feel like I'm next to an ice cellar; there's no fun. I also have advice for you, Don't overestimate yourself; not everyone likes you, even if it is, it's not me."

Maybe after I say these words, I will be immediately executed by Elias or the grisly punishments he said. But I've been through many evil things before, and death isn't scary for me, either.

An intense cold enveloped me; I felt like I would freeze instantly. When I raised my head, I met Elias' dangerous gaze; I immediately lowered my eyes to dodge.

'God, what bad is going to happen to me?' I thought to myself.
