The Prisoner Beneath

~Leon~

I looked at him as I stood by the doorway with a smile on his face, I didn’t know what I was going to do or say I froze out of fear that he had heard what I said but then I couldn’t also leave him there to stand and look around.

“Please, do come in, we were not expecting you to show up on such short notice, I really thought you will be here in two weeks like you said.” I was looking at him a vulnerable pup, the last thing I wanted was to mistakenly anger the Lycan king.

“Well, there were some slight changes and it really made me rush my coming here. You sound a bit worried, is there a chance that my coming here bothers you?” He turned to look at me, he had sensed that something was wrong and I didn’t want to let him know that there was someone in the dungeons it would make him talk.

“No not in the slightest of ways does it bother me. You see, I was really surprised that you came at this short notice, we are unprepared and there are certain things we haven’t yet prepared for your coming so that is why I was a bit worried. Nothing much.” I put a cheesy smile on my face to make sure that he doesn’t suspect much, I was only trying to make sure that I could throw him off my track.

“Nonsense, I prefer you treat me like a normal guest and please make sure that you don’t throw a big party for me, I will be staying here for the next three days.” Dante walked in calmly, I knew that this was going to be a hard task keeping him here and expecting that he wont notice that there is someone in the dungeon.

‘I will have to release that bastard, I really don’t want to but there is no other choice, if he finds out that I keeping the daughter of the former beta locked up in the dungeon then there will be problems.’

I followed him closely to make sure that he went to the guest room we have been keeping for his arrival of next week. It would have easier if I told the guards to lead him there but then I knew that he would immediately suspect that there is something up.

“Lord Dante, please how are things holding up in your kingdom? Knowing you everything must be going all fine and good.” I was only using the sweet talk to make sure that I found a way to distract him and not let him use his powerful senses to find out that we are keeping someone locked up.

“Apart from some little attacks from human hunters and stupid rogues my kingdom is okay.” He had a smile on his face, i knew that there was no way that he was going to find out there was someone locked up in the dungeon if I didn’t give him the chance to figure it all out.

“Surprisingly those attacks don’t happen here that often, for some reason the humans stay clear of our forests.”

“The only reason being that your pack, is being surrounded by my region and no human dares cross my region that far off in a journey. But if I must say, over the years those humans have grown rather cunning, they are now using Xero to attack Lycans. So rather than erase their memories we have been forced to kill most of them.”

Hearing this was a bit weird, but it didn’t make me uneasy I knew that there was a low chance of a human waltzing in to hunt us. My only goal is to make sure that there is no way that he was going sense Astrid locked up, although I knew that he won’t know who she is but I wanted to make sure that he didn’t find out that she was there.

“By the way, I noticed that your beta was not with us. Where did he go?” He looked at me, I looked into his eyes and I could see clearly why my father warned me never to go against a lycan, although his eyes were still normal and had nothing that made it scary, but I felt his sheer determination and unmoved will.

“There was an issue that I needed to handle, so I wanted to make sure that he was the one that saw to it that it was taken care of. I wanted to make sure that you were taken to your room and made sure that you didn’t have any problems.” I tried to smile to throw him off a bit.

He looked at me for a while, then turned t face his front. ‘I can’t really deal with all this; I really should find a way to make sure that he didn’t feel like there was something that I was hiding. But I know that for now, that there was going to be no issue and that he was not going to be okay and there was going to be no issues with the both of us.’

We reached the room, he looked at the doors and peered into the room. I knew that he was giving it a little inspection, I only stood and watched waiting for him to enter the room so that I could find a way to make sure that Astrid was released and I will also make sure that she doesn’t cross paths with him.

“Well, I will leave you to settle down in your room, I will make sure that your needs are met.” I bowed my head a bit, I wanted to leave immediately and make sure that I was going to see to it that nothing happened.

“I will see you at dinner.” He smiled before heading inside the room, I turned and left. I knew that this was going to be one of the longest three days I have ever seen but I was going to be sure that nothing was going to happen, he was going to leave the same way he came here.

~Dante Winters~

From the moment I entered this pack, I knew that he was trying to hide something but then I didn’t want to pressure him into saying anything. Leon Usborn, from what I heard he was one of the best Alphas that this pack has seen in the past decades.

But clearly it was all a lie, I walked past the pack and its people. It has become a shadow of what it used to be; this was one of the packs that had strong soldiers that were strong enough to challenge my warriors. What’s more is that he thinks that he can actually hide something from me and think that I won’t find out.

I felt someone’s presence since the moment I walked in, and the lie that his beta went to hand some external affairs I know he was only trying to hide whoever it is he has locked up in those dungeons. That’s the only reason he was acting that way, I don’t know what type of pack he is running but I know this is not the Moonstone I used to know.

“I wonder who he really is trying to hide?” I know that he is not that strong of an Alpha but I know that he can also be quite cunning, whoever he has locked up down there might have done something to make it hard for him to let them stay in the dungeon. But he was nervous even if he had a prisoner, it was clear that there is more than what I am seeing here.

But still there was an uneasy feeling in my heart, there was someone else here. ‘Could it be her?’
