9. Reject?

Light pierced through the grove of trees. The sound of crickets shouted loudly.

This is the third time Noura has passed through the same magic portal as other vampires when going to the human world the magic portal, which is located next to the kingdom's entrance gate. Noura arrived at a cave in the Appalachia Forest, and she walked leisurely through the forest. She didn't need to be afraid of anyone seeing her because the other vampires came to the human world in the afternoon or evening; they avoided the scorching sun.

Noura was already at the edge of the forest. Noura looked down. Don't know why she believed Orlan's words saying that she was the mate of the Alpha Redwood Pack and she received the black ring that Alpha Orlan gave her. Even Noura thoughtlessly and suspiciously waited for Orlan, who said she would pick her up.

Ten minutes passed. Noura cursed herself for waiting for Orlan, but there was no way Orlan could lie, right? Yesterday they exchanged phone numbers, and Orlan said he was on his way. Noura just had to wait patiently.

"Looking for money?" Noura looked up at someone who had a familiar voice in her ears. Noura's brown eyes widened at the sight of Orlan standing beside the car with a handsome smile. "I'm sorry I kept you waiting."

"You really ... pick me up?" Noura couldn't believe Orlan actually picked her up! But wasn't this what she expected?

"Yeah, I've never broken a promise I made."

Noura gasped after realizing something. Come to think of it, this would be the second time she was in the car; she was with a man!

"Come on. We'll be late." Orlan opened the door to let Noura in.

**

"I heard from Arva. About the werewolf who died in the forest." Noura opened the conversation. After a few minutes, silence fell on them both.

Orlan glanced briefly at Noura, who was playing with the black ring that was perfectly circular on her finger. Even though Orlan had been thinking about what conversation he would build, it turned out that Noura started first.

"Yeah, we're looking into it and gathering a lot of evidence," Orlan said after nodding his head.

"So that you know. We also experienced the same thing. Many vampires were found dead in the Appalachia Forest, and we presumed they died because they were werewolf mates. Isn't this strange?" Noura studied Orlan's expression.

"A werewolf mate?" Orlan frowned; he couldn't concentrate on driving.

"Yes. I've been investigating this case for a month. Upon further investigation, the interesting fact is that they are the mates of a werewolf."

Orlan was surprised. "Is it possible that the werewolf and the vampire who died were lovers?" Orlan turned to Noura, who was staring at him.

Noura shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know. Then what information have you got?"

"We're still investigating. Because by the time we find them, on average, they've been dead for about a week."

Noura nodded her head. "I wonder if our guess is correct. Why don't werewolves who have a vampire mate reject their mate?" Suddenly Orlan braked. Noura's body was pushed forward; fortunately, she wore a seat belt. "Why, Orlan?" Noura asked frantically.

Orlan's breath hitches slightly at the back of his throat. This case was clearly the same as him and Noura. Werewolf and vampire are destined to be together.

A mischievous smile formed on Noura's pretty face. "You want to reject me?"

When he finds out his mate is a vampire. Orlan was disappointed and disapproved of his destiny, but he couldn't lie to himself. He wanted Noura, and he needed his vampire girl in his life. It was enough for 449 years he had lived in loneliness and solitude. All this time, his life was too empty.

Orlan thought he had been cursed because he couldn't find his mate. Apparently not. His destiny was too complicated. The Moon Goddess must have a reason why his mate is a vampire.

"Orlan?" Noura waved her hand in front of Orlan's pale face.

Orlan's blue eyes flashed sadness. He tried to cover it up by looking at Noura seriously. "I won't. Never. Don't talk about things like this again."

Noura smiled faintly. She was only joking, but Orlan took her seriously. She didn't want to think about what would happen to their relationship.

Orlan took a deep breath. He closed his eyes for a moment. Don't get emotional. Orlan calmed himself, emotions almost taking over him. After feeling his emotions dampen. He drives his car back.

Jay roared. His wolf was also sad. "Orlan, promise me when emotions overwhelm you. You must stay conscious. Don't you reject Noura. I'm not afraid to die on the battlefield. I'll die if I live without our mate. I really love our mate ."

"Yeah, I would never do that, Jay," Orlan promised.

Noura feels guilty. Orlan's face looked gloomy. Don't know why she feels what Orlan is feeling right now. Even though only yesterday she met and heard Orlan's words which sounded ridiculous. She is his mate? Oh my gosh. This is too confusing.

"I'll pick you up later." Orlan looked at Noura with a sad look, and his tone trembled slightly. Orlan kissed Noura's forehead, and his mate flinched in surprise.

"Wait for me." Orlan gently stroked Noura's hair. Noura froze where she stood; she didn't expect Orlan to dare kiss her forehead. Noura felt an oddity in her heart. Noura saw Orlan's car coming out of the cafe before entering.

**

"Oh, yes, Alpha did it!" Arva is very happy to see Alpha and Noura together!

"It turns out that Alpha Orlan is great at women too." Leon chuckled.

They watched from the cafe window. They smiled happily.

Nobody cared about the witches' prophecy of 1150. They didn't want to think about that. Seeing Orlan's flat and cold face which instantly softened when he was with Noura. Make them feel happy too.

No one cares what will happen when they are together. Third war? Werewolf split? Or is it farewell?

"Good morning, Princess Noura." Arva greeted Noura with a beaming face.

Noura furrowed her brow.

"Good morning, Luna." Leon smiled seductively.

"Luna?" Noura is confused. Noura dug through her memories; she had heard the term in the werewolf clan. She remembered what Arva had said years ago. "Luna? Oh, that." Noura scratched her head; that didn't itch. "Don't call me that. That sounds weird." Noura smiled awkwardly.

"You will become part of the werewolf clan. Because you are the mate of an Alpha." Arva explained. Leon nodded.

Noura was pensive. Everything seemed impossible to her. Now she thinks. How did the vampire clan react when they found out she was the mate of a werewolf? Moreover, she is the mate of an Alpha. What will happen? Why hadn't she thought of this from yesterday? Why was she so relaxed from yesterday?

"Don't call me that." Noura refused. She saw the disappointed faces Arva and Leon showed. Oh gosh. This morning she had disappointed three people? Noura bit her lower lip. She had made the morning mood unpleasant.

"I'm sorry, princess. Don't think too much about it." Leon knew he shouldn't have called Luna. Since Princess Noura's lord didn't fully belong to Alpha Orlan yet, she was still the Princess of the Appalachia Vampire Kingdom.

All the windows were locked, and the curtains were tightly shut; there was no way for the sun to come in. Illumination from the lamp hanging above the ceiling was the only way to make this room look bright.

There are a lot of scattered papers on the table. The man wearing a white shirt that rolled his arms up to his elbows was leaning against the back of a chair.

"Your Majesty, you summoned me?" There was a voice behind the door.

"Yes, come in." Carlen immediately straightened up.

"Your Majesty, do you have any new assignments for me?" Before speaking, general Nehan bowed his back slightly to show his respect.

"Reject all animal blood shipments from Ferin. Either way, don't let the animal blood circulate again in the palace and among the citizens. Throw any remaining animal blood." Carlen looked straight at general Nehan.

"I understand, Your Majesty." General Nehan complied with the king's orders.

"I don't want to hear of this task failing again. If it fails, I revoke your position." Carlen glared at the old vampire standing in front of him. General Nehan is the chief soldier who has served since his father's reign, King Alison. General Nehan is also one of his trusted vampires.

"Very well, Your Majesty. I assure you it will be successful this time." General Nehan said confidently.

Carlen invited Nehan to come out of his workspace to carry out his orders immediately.

After a few minutes, Aaron came.

"Your Majesty, don't you just wait for the evening? I'm will coming to the Redwood Pack. You know I am, Your Majesty. It's a scorching afternoon; the sun is overhead. I'm not a pure vampire. I can being ash when exposed to the sun for a long period of time." Aaron protested at King Carlen.

"You don't usually send me to Redwood Corp at noon." Aaron wasn't afraid of Carlen glaring at him. Apart from Aaron being Carlen's bodyguard and personal assistant, he is also Carlen's friend from childhood.

Carlen rolled his eyes. "Wear the necklace I gave you! Don't dramatize, Aaron!"

Aaron smirked. "The necklace doesn't really work; I still feel like I'm burning in the sun."

Carlen looked at Aaron very flatly. "Who told you to stand in the sun? You take the royal car, so you don't feel hot!" growled Carlen.

Aaron pouted. "Okay." Aaron bowed his head in respect, then immediately headed for Redwood Corp.

Carlen sighed. If only he could get out of this palace. He will do everything himself. There's no need to order anyone, but that's just his hope.

Orlan sat limply in the chair and propped his chin. Orlan remembered Noura's words. Suppose it's true that the werewolf and vampire who died were lovers. Does that mean that he and Noura will also be killed soon? Who would dare to do that? Before the culprit killed him and Noura, Orlan would first kill the culprit.

Who is the culprit of this murder? What's the motive? What underlies all these acts?

Orlan ruffled his hair in frustration. Moon Goddess. He also wanted to be like the others. Live happily with his mate. It's not like this that continues to be overshadowed by many questions.

He can't be like this. Orlan had to be optimistic. His relationship with Noura will be delicate. There is no obstacle to stop them, and their relationship flows like water that moves from upstream to downstream.

Orlan had to steel his heart. No matter what happens, he will face it!

"I'm always with you, Orlan. Don't forget my presence." Jay's words made Orlan smile widely. Yeah, he can't forget the Jay in him.

Orlan turned his head when he heard a knock on the door, and afterward, Dafa said, "Aaron wants to see you, Alpha." Orlan let them in.

"Good afternoon, Alpha. I mean, Director." Aaron bowed respectfully.

Orlan nodded his head. "Summoning Alpha is okay too."

Aaron smiled awkwardly.

Dafa stood beside Alpha.

Aaron handed Orlan a file. "This is a file about the Appalachia Kingdom's pearls from the mermaid clan."

Orlan opened the red file. He read the number of pearls that the Appalachia Kingdom would send to his company.

Because the Appalachia Kingdom is a vampire kingdom. They only come out at night, and it is not possible to establish a company in the human world. They always send their products to Redwood Corp so that Redwood Corp will market them. This cooperation is mutually beneficial for both parties.

"Just send them all." Orlan narrowed his eyes, looking at the bottom of the note on the paper. "A lot of pearls are reddish-white." Orlan was surprised. If the pearl is reddish-white, it means that the mermaid who produced the pearl is very sad because all pearls come from the tears of the mermaids.

"Yeah, that's right. Lots of them. Are the mermaids sad at the same time?" Dafa asked.

"Probably. They say many mermaids have died from being eaten by sharks." Aaron's words shocked Orlan and Dafa. Poor mermaid clan. This is the risk of living in the ocean.
