ELENA

The repulsing stench of booze hit my nostrils as I walked into the house. It was dark, with just a little gleam from the moonlight illuminating the hallway and a bit of the living room.

From where I stood, I could see Trent sprawled on the couch with empty bottles littered on the table.

His eyes were heavy, drowsy, and squinted. His cold, inebriated gaze sent shudders down my spine. But I clouded it with an expressionless stare, before looking away and heading to my bedroom.

I took off my coat and was kicking off my shoes when he barged into the room.

“Now start talking,” He slurred. His rage, mixed with booze, made him every inch a fuming beast. A terrifying presence.

But I was so dangerously calm that I wondered exactly what had come over me. Something about all the thinking I did on my way back here had me this calm. Audaciously calm.

“Don't yell at me,” I kicked off the shoes and plumped on the bed, letting the pins out of my hair.

“What?” His eyes scorched. “That's al

LEONARDO I took a minute to remind myself that I had no reason to be as terrified as I was right now. But I couldn't help it. Not when he looked like that — dark, unhinged, and having that vicious and psychopathic side of him activated. The straight line scar from the explosion, perfectly tainting his right cheek, made him even more unhinged. Beastly. Like a damn barbarian. Except he was dressed in the finest Italian piece. “Vince…” I was gonna ask how he got into my room. But that would be me, underestimating him. So I stayed silent. But my feet were still pinned to the ground and I still wasn't moving. “You're not happy to see me?”“Of course I am…” I'd be throwing a million backflips if he didn't have that terrifying look on his face.“You didn't tell anyone that I was alive, did you?” He asked, head tilted to the side, eyes staring into my soul.I couldn't answer that. But when I tried, my answers came in stutters. “How could I…if I didn't know you were…alive?” He chuckled.

ELENA “Elena.” The voice woke me from my brief nap, and I slowly sat up. Seeing my hand still intertwined with my father's brought tears to my eyes instantly. But knowing there was someone else in the room gave me the courage to hold back the tears. I looked up, expecting to see the doctor, but it wasn't him. “Mr. Williams?” He was Father's attorney. He gave a prim smile and a curt bow. “Hello, Ma'am.”“Is there a problem?” I asked, pretty unsure why he was here, looking all serious and in a business mood. Father was still unconscious. So who did he come here for?“Would you give me a few minutes? There's something I need to tell you.”“Uh…sure. I'll meet you in the hallway.”He nodded and left first. I took my time, removing my fingers from Father's, staring at him for seconds, kissing his forehead before leaving the room and going to join Mr. Williams on the seat. “Is there a problem?” I asked nervously. He didn't say a word. But opened his suitcase and took out a file. “Her

ELENA “The patient in room 3053 has woken up, Ma'am.” One of my interns informed me. I was already rushing down the hallway from checking on a different patient. “Alright. Thank you.” I said to her, ready to go where she'd mentioned. “Excuse me, Luna Elena.” One of the nurses from the reception table gestured at me. I was torn between going to her and heading to the patient who needed my attention. “There's a call for you from the Packhouse in Moonflakes Pack. It says it's urgent.”Father's Pack? What could be so urgent? My curiosity led me to walk to her and take the phone. “Thank you,” I mumbled to her.“Hello,” I said calmly into the phone. “Luna Elena? It's Miranda, one of the maids in the house.” the girl from the other end whispered. “Sure. Miranda. What's going on?” “Your…your…Father fainted. Again.”I froze. It took seconds to recover from the shock. “Father fainted??” Tears blurred my eyes instantly. “What do you mean? Why would he faint? Is he sick?”She said agai

TRENT The papers landed harshly on the table, making the men flinch slightly. Grey-haired. Black suited. Wrinkled face. Greedy assed. Exhausting. Frustrating MEN!!!“WHAT?” I grumbled furiously, scowling at all of them. They cleared their throats, nervously looking away. One of them, with the most glaring guts, repeated the damn words. “We're sorry, Alpha Trent, but we can't show you the company's financial statements. And don't get us wrong. We respect and acknowledge you as Vince's son…”“But?” I snarled, fixing my dead glare at him. He swallowed a lump and continued. “But Vince didn't leave a will that states that we hand everything to you when he's not here. He didn't authorize you to be his proxy. So we're sorry but we can't do it.”I was standing, hands braced on the table with my hands tightly fisted. The rage inside me was being fueled by every nasty, insulting, and gutsy word they'd been saying since this meeting started. So badly do I wanna flip this table in their fac

ELENA Ignoring the voices and chatter was impossible. People were flooding in and out quietly. Dropping their flowers and saying their prayers for the deceased Vince. Father organized a little wake for Vince.I was sitting in one of the pews at a corner of the hall. Away from the attention. Away from the greetings. Away from the suffocating formality that I was supposed to carry out as a Luna. Aunt Vanessa was filling in for me. Doing both her duties and mine. I couldn't afford to stand there. My tears haven't stopped falling since I left the hospital. I wasn't sobbing or wailing. I was normal now, but the endless drop of tears was what I couldn't explain. That's why I have these dark shades on. And a scarf around my neck, up to my mouth. To not make it so obvious. “Luna Elena.” I looked up. Even sitting here, with these shades and all, they still recognized me. “I'm really sorry for your loss.” The elderly woman said. I nodded. She was expecting me to formally accept her greeti

  • My Mate's Father Wants Me    73|His ruin

ELENA "Elena…”The voice was faint. Deep. Raspy. Vince. My heart ached anew and I itched to get closer to the voice. To him. To cry my heart out and beg him never to leave. To tell him I'm sorry. But the harder I stretched my hand to him, the more he was out of touch. “Elena…” I felt a hand hovering over mine. And a shadow cast above me. Faint background voices joined in, destroying my beautiful illusion of Vince. My eyes slowly opened, taking in the blurry, white ceilings. The voices whispered more, all at once, making it kinda hard to grab a thing. I took a deep breath, blinking until my vision cleared. The smell. The ceiling. The ambiance. I knew exactly where I was. “Luna Elena. Are you alright?” Dr. Drake asked, hovering over me. He had a cautious gaze and a pitiful stare. I took a few seconds and then the agony in my heart set in. “Where's Vince?” I whispered to him, holding his hand pleadingly while tears rolled down the corners of my eyes. “I need to see him…”“Luna
