Chapter 1

Author: Washing Wheat
I never thought that as the CEO of a listed company, I'd ever be pointed at and called a car moocher.

The kicker? That was my car.

20 minutes after I called the cops, a cruiser pulled up.

But before the two officers could even ask me about the carjacking, my driver, Hayden Jenkins, tore down the street in my black Maybach.

He slammed on the brakes right in front of me and scrambled out of the driver's seat. With a pale face, he asked, "Ms. Gray, what's going on? Why did you call the police?"

I just looked at him, keeping my mouth shut.

The police officer sized him up. "Are you the guy Ms. Gray said took her car without permission?"

Hearing that, Hayden completely panicked. "No, no, officer, it's all a misunderstanding. I'm Ms. Gray's driver. I drive her every single day.

"I was just dropping someone off on the way. I only got held up for a few minutes. There was no carjacking or anything."

He pointed at my car, offering a placating smile. "See? I brought it right back the second I could, didn't I?"

The officer looked between the two of us, then asked, "Ms. Gray, do you still want to press charges?"

Just as I was about to speak, Hayden stepped close and lowered his voice, pleading desperately, "Ms. Gray, please, for the sake of all the years my dad drove for you, give me a break just this once.

"You know his health is failing. I finally found a girlfriend, and I'm just trying to fulfill my dad's wish. I only did what I did to save my relationship. I didn't have a choice."

Mentioning his dad, Arthur Jenkins, actually made me hesitate.

Arthur had been my driver for six years. He was honest, reliable, and never caused any trouble.

In those six years, he was never late, never got a ticket, and would always politely try to refuse the holiday bonuses I handed out.

But three months ago, he was diagnosed with a lung condition that required long-term rest, forcing him to retire.

On his last day, he stood in my office, rubbing his rough hands. After hesitating for a long time, he awkwardly told me that his son, Hayden, had just lost his job and asked if I could give him a chance.

Arthur had been an honest man his whole life and had never asked for a favor. That was his first.

Out of respect for him, I agreed.

Hayden did fine in his first two months.

He wasn't perfect, but he got the job done—he was on time and kept the car clean.

But last month, things changed.

When Hayden came to pick me up that morning, a heavily made-up woman was sitting in the passenger seat.

I frowned, and Hayden quickly explained in a hushed voice as he opened the door for me, "Ms. Gray, this is my girlfriend, Casey Sloan. Her office is on our way, so I'm just giving her a quick lift."

I nodded and let it go.

It was just a carpool—no big deal.

But gradually, things started getting weird.

That "quick lift" became a mandatory routine every single morning.

Hayden would pick up Casey first, and then come get me.

At first, Casey just liked taking photos and videos from the passenger seat, flexing on social media that she was riding in a Maybach.

I could overlook that. She was young; a little vanity was normal.

What I couldn't understand was why she always looked at me with such pure disgust.

It was as if I owed her millions of dollars.

A few times, she even sprayed perfume nonstop toward my seat after I got in the car and complained loudly, "Gosh, why does this expensive car always smell so trashy?"

Faced with their accusations, Casey exploded in rage and fired back without restraint. "You hypocrites have the nerve to blame me? If you guys hadn't been so desperate to ride my coattails and kept egging me on, would I have ever gone this far?"When you thought I was a CEO's wife, you were practically begging to lick my boots. Now that there's trouble, you all turn on me? You pathetic parasites are born to be sycophants. Not a single one of you is getting away today!"Casey and her friends started screaming at each other on the spot. The police had to step in to keep them from throwing punches.Once the dust settled from the shouting match, the group began frantically deflecting blame. They all claimed they barely drank anything, pointing fingers at everyone else. They also swore they never laid a finger on me.But then the police pulled up the footage from my villa's high-definition security cameras. Confronted with crystal-clear evidence, the room went dead silent.Every pers

"Got it."The officers nodded and quickly escorted everyone involved to the station. Before leaving, the lead officer instructed me to gather proof of value for all the damaged items—such as receipts or appraisals—along with my medical report and bring everything to the station so they could calculate the charges one by one.I went to the hospital to get my wounds treated. After picking up the medical report, I headed straight to the police station with a mountain of evidence.Inside the station, Casey's friends, who had been so incredibly arrogant earlier, were now wearing collective looks of utter misery.Previously, they had fawned over Casey entirely out of fear of Hayden's status as the CEO of Apexion Group. They had assumed she was going to be his future wife, so they bent over backward to network with her.But now, the CEO's wife they thought they were protecting turned out to be just a driver's girlfriend.Meanwhile, the woman they had brutally assaulted was the actual

I continued calmly, "Second, you unauthorizedly used my vehicle to chauffeur others around, causing vehicle depreciation. That is illegal use of property."Third, you concealed your true identity and used my assets to lie your way into a relationship, which constitutes civil fraud."With every point I made, Hayden's face grew a shade paler."Fourth."I pointed at the shattered emerald necklace on the floor. "That was my mother's keepsake, and your girlfriend smashed it. You're not walking away from this either."Hayden's knees gave out, and he dropped to the floor on the spot. "Ms. Gray, I didn't mean to. Please, let me off just this once. I swear, there won't be a next time!"He kneeled there, repeatedly slamming his forehead against the floor.Casey stood to the side, watching Hayden grovel with an incredibly complex expression twisted across her face. There was rage, disappointment, humiliation, and a lingering hint of guilt she couldn't quite mask. Her friends shrank even

Casey continued yelling, "Hayden, shut them up already! Tell them right now, out loud, who's the CEO and who's the employee!"Casey's friends all stared at Hayden, egging him on."Yeah, Mr. Jenkins. Tell them who you are. Put them in their places!""A broke nobody and a bunch of actors are acting high and mighty on your property! You need to teach them a lesson!""Yeah! Casey is waiting for you to stand up for her!"Despite the heavy pressure from the room, Hayden didn't move an inch.Confused, Casey gave him a hard shove. "Hayden, say something!"Hayden kept his head down. His voice was barely a mumble as he said, "What they said… is true."The living room went dead silent. The smug smile on Casey's face froze completely. She stared at Hayden, her eyes wide with disbelief. "What did you just say?"Hayden couldn't even bring himself to look her in the eye. His voice dropped lower. "Ms. Gray is telling the truth. She is the CEO of Apexion Group. The car is hers. This villa is

I said calmly, "And what did you do? You used my car to chauffeur your girlfriend around every single day."You let her flaunt her attitude in front of me; you let her slap a note on my seat to insult me. Then, you let her bring her friends to trash my villa, assault me, and smash my belongings. What makes you think you have any right to ask for my help?"Beads of sweat began to break out on Hayden's forehead. He opened his mouth, trying to find the words, but nothing came out.I stared at him and continued, "Your dad's health is failing. He handed this job over to you because he wanted you to work hard, earn a stable income, and support yourself."He didn't ask you to treat this job like garbage, and he damn sure didn't ask you to use my car and my villa to con women!""Ms. Gray, I…" Hayden's voice was trembling violently. "I wasn't conning anyone… I just—""Just what?" I cut him off. "Just told Casey you were the CEO of a company? Just brought her to my villa and told her you

Seeing him enter, Casey's friends immediately swarmed over to suck up to him."Mr. Jenkins, thank goodness you're finally here! This bitch Dana hired a bunch of extras to put on a show and try to scare everyone.""Yeah! They're claiming she's the actual CEO of Apexion Group, that this villa and the car belong to her, and that you're just her driver!""They even threatened to lock us down and make us pay. Mr. Jenkins, you have to stand up for Casey and us!""Exactly! Show these bottom-tier actors what a real CEO looks like!"Hayden stood frozen, his face pale as he took in the absolute disaster zone of the living room. His eyes scanned the blood on the corner of my mouth, my matted hair, and finally landed on the shattered pieces of the emerald necklace on the floor. The moment he saw the broken emerald, his pupils dilated in pure horror. He recognized that emerald. When Arthur had handed the job over to him, he had specifically warned him about it.He told him it was a pricel
