Two figures sneaked out and ran through the darkness of the night. Concealed by black cloaks and shadows they made it through the forest behind the huge castle. After Erra and Narrah's serious talk, words were secretly passed to all trusted servants of Lady Narrah's decision. Everyone made their part in ensuring Erra and the young lady's safe departure. Erra abruptly stopped noticing Narrah falling behind. She turned around and saw the girl staring at the towering structure from afar."Lady Narrah..." she softly called as she retracts her steps and stands behind the girl."Will I have the chance to come back here, Erra? Will I see my home again? Can I restore the glorious time of my father's rule? Can I protect my people just like what you are all saying?" Narrah softly asked as she sniffed her tears.Erra, too, stared at the castle ahead of them as she remained silent. The once jovial place now looked gloomy and dark."No one prepared me for this Erra. Mother and father taught me ev
After the incident with the wolves and retrieving her arrows. The two walk and run through the thick forest, trying to be on guard. They could hear howls from everywhere, causing spine-shivering fear.Narrah looked up at the fading moon, soon it will be dawn and she felt a little relief, looking forward to a bright day. The sun would greatly help their path towards where Erra planned to take her. The howls from the distance are creeping her tremendously. For someone who is so sheltered like her, the unknown outside of the castle terrifies her.The sun has started to rise and the two paused for a while to watch the rays of light creeping through the thick leaves of the trees. Despite the bright sunshine, there are still dark parts of the forest. Haze surrounded their paths. Thick branches and leaves of trees block the bright sun. "Let's stop and eat for a while, my lady" Erra said while she looked around for a good spot for them.Narrah quietly followed as Erra w
Silence ruled as Narrah continued to gawk at the man who already looked impatient and irritated."Get her toy" the man barked his order. Narrah was interrupted from her thoughts when another man jumps off the tree. Having no choice, she peacefully gave her bow and arrows. Even with her fears, she gritted her teeth in annoyance from what the man called her precious weapon. Her bow and arrows were never toys, neither a mere display. "What business do you have in this part of the forest?" the man with unusual eye color asked. His tone grim and serious.Narrah stared at the man's eyes in silence, scowl adorned his face while waiting for response. The beasts started to growl when the man was ignored."We are just passing. We intend no harm" Narrah calmly responded after the tensed silence. "The forest is tricky for two young lasses. You seemed to be in the wrong place" the man casually replied."As I said, we were just passing. We won't linger" Narrah insi
Narrah continued to gape when she noticed Erra doing the same while looking around. She had figured it out too and just like her, Erra was shocked. They were never prepared to encounter the mythical creatures they thought to exist only in legends. Narrah had read books about human wolves but never did she expect she will meet one, someday. Worst, they were caught in the middle of the beasts' wars, like the book about werewolves she was reading with her mother. Is she this sheltered? Not knowing these creatures also exist and living with them? She was not aware she might have talked to one before. Do her parents didn't know too or she was just spared of such information? She stared at the filthy-looking wolves, wondering if they too can become humans like the wolves who were with them. Werewolves, as she was thought, were ferocious beasts who are bound to the power of the mate bond and their moon goddess. Territorial and vindictive. Supernatural creatures with extraordinar
The werewolves saying they have to hurry, really meant it to be hurried. They ride at full speed all night without stopping. Erra and Narrah held tight for their precious lives as the beasts speed away, hooves thundering the ground. They only stopped once when Narrah and Erra have to relieve themselves. The sun has already risen when they reached a clearing with a stream. They stopped for a drink and the two took the chance to wash their sticky faces and hands. They also stretched their rigid bones, relieving their aching backs. The wolves scattered around and were still on their feet. Their eyes were vigilant at any sign of movement, even from afar. No one shifted into their human forms as they alternately took a drink from the stream.Narrah and Erra ate a little of what is left of their food. They only got a short rest before Viddar nudged them for their departure. Narrah and Erra kept their silence as they mentally grimaced for another ordeal. They don't know how long
Narrah and Erra got settled and both took a nap. Exhaustion and several nights of lack of sleep won. It's already dark when Erra woke up. Narrah was still asleep so she slowly get up and arranged the blanket around the girl. She carefully went out and found Dr. Blith with a young man inside his clinic."Pardon us, doctor, we slept the day away" Erra apologize with an embarrassed smile."No worries. You looked exhausted" the doctor responded with a warm smile."Good evening Erra" the younger man greeted which surprised her. She just stared at his face, speechless. "I am Caleb, the one you tended during the fight" the man reminded her with a timid smile. "Oh..." Erra responded with surprise. "You gave him a great first aid. He has fully healed" the doctor interrupted. "Her medicine burns like hell but it's effective" Caleb boasted with a smile. "Thank you for treating my wound, Erra, it helped a lot" Caleb added when Erra remained silent.
Just like what Celeste ordered, the next day, Narrah and Erra find their way towards the packhouse before the sun rises to light the sky. There are few people they passed by who gave them curious gazes. It's still very early in the morning but the huge house afar which they assumed to be the packhouse was already brightly lit and people are busy going in and out.A group of men was also afar in a vast clearing, seeming to be training on the field. Everyone is rising and starting their day very early. The two reached the huge house but hesitated to enter the door. They just remained standing and staring at the wide door when Siebel went out. "Narrah, Erra, good you are here. Miss Celeste is throwing a fit, you are late! Follow me, hurry!" the woman snapped at them before she turned around to enter the door again. Narrah and Erra looked at each other before they hurriedly followed inside. Once inside, they were greeted with several women scurrying anywhere
"Tell me..." Narrah muttered grimly, wiping the wetness on her face. Erra just continue to stare at her in silence, making the girl angrier. "You will tell me Erra" she added when she got no response. Her eyes were as sharp as her arrows, making Erra gulp in fear. "What are you two doing? I told you to clean, not cuddle each other!" an angry voice interrupted their hostile situation. Two pairs of surprised eyes turned to the glaring woman and the serious-looking man beside her. They both scrambled to stand with bowed heads under the man's serious scrutiny. "Pardon us, Miss Celeste. My sister fell from dusting the shelves" Erra softly apologized. "Fell? Did you break anything? I will make you pay if you destroyed anything here!" the woman looked around checking the displays, unconcerned of Narrah's safety."I haven't broken anything, Miss Celeste" Narrah responded softly, trying to conceal her grim mood. "Make sure of it or you will sleep in t
