“What happened? Why did you call us so urgently?” Albert asked me while entering the living room of our home.

Hailley and Lucifer also entered behind him, concern evident on their faces.

“Did you see the article The Shadow published this morning?” I asked them anxiously while they all took seats. Lucifer and Hailley settled on the long couch while Albert kept standing beside me, holding my hand.

Lucifer’s face immediately went grim, but he nodded in agreement.

“What about that?” Hailley asked him with concern.

My breath hitched when I saw that Albert also had a grim expression.

“You should have told me. I wouldn’t have given Maddie’s phone to her.” I blamed him for Maddie’s interest in that news.

He immediately narrowed his eyes when he registered my words.

“You… you mean to say that Maddie showed her interest in that news?” Hailley asked me, stammering a little in panic.

I looked at her with a painful expression, tears now pooling in my eyes.
