LOGIN“It’s not as simple as you think, Adolphus…. I am wolf-less…. This is the perfect reason that I can’t be your luna.” I tried to give Adolphus a reason why he should reject me, but my voice cracked. To be honest, belittling myself, and asking my second chance mate to reject me for the same reason that my first mate used stung badly. My heart was hurting badly, but I concealed my heartache and kept on looking at him with indifference. I saw his jaw clenching hard, and my body trembled, not in fear, but because of heartache. He was an alpha… Our future alpha…. He needs a strong she-wolf as his mate, not someone like me…. Who is wolf-less….. “So… you think th… that the Moon Goddess did a mistake by pairing us, huh?” he asked me, and I dug my nails deeper in my palms. I felt something hot seeping out of my fingers, but my eyes were still glued on him. “I don’t know about others, but there is no way that I will reject you, Madeline….. Both I and Onyx has no problem with you having no wolf because our goddess chose you for me…. So forget it about rejection, and you know me very well.” He announced his decision in a firm and cold tone, and before I could say a word, he stormed out of my room. I collapsed on the floor right after he left the room, and sobbed silently. I was relieved that I didn’t have to go through the pain of rejection this time, but I was sorry for Adolphus. I didn’t know why the Moon Goddess paired us, but I need to talk to his father, our present alpha.
View More“Promise me, Hailey, that you won’t let anything happen to my pup…. Pro… promise me that yo.. you will keep him safe until hi…. His father comes to find him…. Promise me.” The dying she-wolf pleaded to her best friend while holding her swollen belly, where a life was about to come out.
“I… I promise you, Ava…. I promise me… I will take care of him like my own pup… no one will be able to find him or to hurt him… I … I promise… just hold on for a little longer… you will be alright… he will be alright.” Hailey promised her in a choked tone, holding Ava’s hand tightly as if she was scared that Ava would vanish into thin air if she loosened her grip on her hand.
Ava smiled faintly, her eyelashes started dropping, making Hailey panic to death.
“Nononono, Ava… don’t sleep… don’t sleep…. Do something.” Hailey screamed in panic while looking at the female doctor who was trying to deliver the baby, but Ava’s condition was worsening the situation. Ava was injured badly and had lost so much blood that they couldn’t go for a C-section, but she had no strength in her body either to push the baby out of her body.
“One more push, Ava…. You can do it… you made it to be here in this state…. You …. You can do it to deliver your baby safely…. One last time…. Push, Ava…. Push… I .. I can see his head.” The doctor urged Ava in a panicked and desperate tone.
“Yeah… yeah… one last time… push, Ava… for the sake of your pup…. Gather all your strength and push… push, Ava.” Hailey screamed at her best friend, who was now on the brink of death.
Ava was now breathing shallowly, but she needed to bring her pup safely in this world. He is her only hope who can avenge them and their pack. “One last time, Ava… let’s do this for our pup.” Her wolf urged her in an exhausted tone, still determined to make one last attempt.
Ava took a deep breath, gathered all her last strength with the help of her wolf, and pushed harder. “AAAAHhhhhhhhhh.” She screamed at the top of her lungs while pushing her pup out of her body harder than all the time.
“Ava.” Hailey screamed in horror as soon as Ava’s lifeless body went limp in her embrace. At the same time, a meek cry of a baby filled the room too.
The doctor pressed the almost cold body of the pup to her chest while looking at his dead mother lying in front of her through tearful eyes. The nurses also sobbed aloud, covering their mouths with their hands to muffle their cries.
The door of the room burst open, and Alpha Lucifer barged in with a horrified expression on his face. At the same time, a nurse covered Ava’s body with a sheet. Hailey was now holding Ava’s body tightly in her embrace while crying her heart out.
Lucifer was now rooted in his spot while processing what had just happened. His eyes darted to Hailey, Ava, and the crying baby in the doctor’s embrace. He was completely drenched in blood, as he had just finished the battle outside.
“She is gone, Lucifer… she left us… she left us, Lucifer… she left us.” Hailey wailed aloud while looking at Lucifer through tears.
The pup’s miserable cry pulled Lucifer out of his daze after some time. The doctor slowly approached Lucifer and stopped at a distance from him. He raised his hands towards the doctor to take the pup. The doctor slowly put the tiny frame of the crying pup in his large hands.
“No one will talk about what happened today here. The whole pack will keep this incident buried deep inside their minds. From now on, I forbid everyone to mention Ava Orion and anything related to the Moon Shadow Pack.” He announced through the mind-link to everyone while looking at the crying pup in his hands through tears.
“From now on… this is your pack, and we are your parents, pup…. You will be known as the member of the Dark Moon Pack until your father comes here.” He said to the pup in a choked tone. Hailey continued crying while looking at Lucifer through tears. She knew it was the best that they could do for this pup, and she was also determined to fulfill her promise to her best friend…. Her Ava.
19 years later:-
“Damn it, Maddie. You have to be careful during sparring not to hit so hard. You are not fighting enemies.” Lucas, one of the warriors sparring with Madeline, groaned in pain while lying on the ground on his stomach. His whole body was screaming in pain after being beaten by Maddie in sparring.
“I am sorry, Lucas. Next time, I will be careful.” Madeline replied to him in a teasing tone, and he glared at her. “Next time… when I will be alive till then… then you will be careful.” He spat angrily but groaned in pain again as he moved his upper body furiously.
“O goddess… give me a hand now, will you?” He yelled while looking at Madeline angrily. She chuckled while wiping the sweat on her neck but raised her hand towards Lucas. Others didn’t pay attention to their bantering, as this was a common occurrence for them.
Although Madeline looked fragile with her small frame of 5 feet 5 inches and a doll-like, innocent, and cute face, she was fierce and cruel when it came to duels. She could easily bring down a full-grown wolf of almost five times more than her size and weight.
“Maddie…. Alpha is asking you to come to his office.” Someone yelled when Lucas was about to stand up after grabbing Madeline’s hand. “O shi*.” She cursed and immediately yanked her hand from Lucas’s grip, causing him to lose his balance again, and he fell on the ground on his butt, wincing in pain again.
Madeline didn’t pay attention to him and sprinted towards the pack house. She forgot that they were about to leave for Royal Pack for the annual ball with the alpha couple. The future alpha and her brother were still in the Royal Academy, finishing their training, leaving her to fulfill all their duties until they come back.
She continued running at a fast pace until she reached the alpha’s office on the second floor of the pack house and barged in while opening the door with a bang.
“I am sorry… I am late… I am sorry.” She yelled while panting heavily. It was almost a fifteen-minute run for her from the training ground to the packhouse, but she covered it in less than 10 minutes.
“Are you sure that I am the right person to apologize to, Maddie…. Because I am sure that my forgiveness will change nothing.” Lucifer remarked sarcastically at her apology.
She slumped on the chair in front of him on the other side of the table. Lucifer sighed helplessly while feeling pity for her. “Is there any way to avoid the storm?” she asked him while giving her a pitiful look, sprawling her upper body at the top of the table.
Lucifer gave her a sympathetic look without uttering a word. She felt remorseful. She was doomed because she forgot that she was supposed to go shopping with Luna Hailey this evening to buy an evening gown for the ball.
"You .... you can s.. say th.. that you asked me to go to ... to the training ground for ... for some urgent training session." She asked him while forming an excuse for why she forgot.
Lucifer's sympathetic expression immediately changed into a horrific one. "You want me to face the wrath of that lady tiger to save you?" he asked her while yelling in panic, and Madeline immediately bobbed her head furiously while looking at her innocently.
"Nope.... a big no.... this is your mess... solve it by yourself." He immediately refused while moving his head in the other direction, completely avoiding her pitiful gaze because he knew that he would melt in a few seconds if he continued looking at her.
"Please, Alpha," she still pleaded, trying to appear as pitiful as she could. Lucifer was about to refuse once again when he straightened his back.
The next second, the door burst open again, making Lucifer feel pity for the door. "Madeline Summers..... you still have the audacity to ask him to cover you." The powerful voice of Luna Hailey shook the whole office, making them almost jump out on their seats in fright. Madeline gulped hard while craning her neck towards Luna Hailey, who was now standing right at the door, fuming in anger, her hands resting on her hips, a clear indication of a volcanic eruption at any time soon.
No One’s P.O.V.Madeline reached the riverside first and hid herself in the high, thick bushes of the highest tree near the river. She could hear snarls and howls of enemy wolves who were struggling against Aurora’s command to come to the river but their wolves were weak in front of her commands.Even the hybrids were forced to follow her command.“What are you up to, Maddie?” Adolphus asked her through mind-link. He didn’t understand the situation when suddenly all the enemies around them froze for a few seconds and started running away. They killed a few but they also felt their enemies were running away against their wills. He had already sent all the poisoned wolves, including his father, Albert, and Nathan, to the pack hospital. He also froze for a second when Aurora’s powerful roar echoed through the whole pack, followed by howls of all the enemy wolves and then the chaos erupted.“Just relax, my love, and secure that area first. In less than an hour, this will end.” Madeline co
Madeline’s P.O.V. (Continued)It was a lot to process but I could feel the distress and pain of every pack member through the pack bond, and it was way more overwhelming than I could endure.“Inject only 0.5 ml of this concoction to everyone, Mayra. Sedate their mates and put them to sleep. Their panic and anxiety can escalate the poison’s effects in their poisoned mates.” I instructed Mayra in a stiff voice, but my wolf stirred inside me.It made me more restless than I already was. I put my hands on the handles of the crash cart and leaned down a little.“Give the injection right at the same place. Inject Winter, Luna Hailley, and my mother first.” I added and then looked out of the window. It was dark outside, but I saw the Moon shining brightly in the sky.“It’s a blood moon tonight.” I whispered while tilting my head a little.“What about it? This is not the time to be distracted, Maddie.” Mayra asked me worriedly, sounding distressed and frustrated.“Everyone…. Listen to me and
Madeline’s P.O.V. (Continued)“You are awake.” Philip chirped through mind-link, and I groaned. “Assign two warriors to check everyone’s mate marks. We need to replace all the poisoned mates. Their mates will be in danger soon.” I continued giving instructions while looking for something that could help me take the poison out of Luna Hailley’s mark.“Luna Hailley, Beta Rita, and ….. and Winter are poisoned. Send Alpha Lucifer, Beta Albert, and Beta Nathan to the hospital now.” I shot the next instruction and found a new syringe in the crash cart.“What are you doing?” Mayra asked me when she saw me taking the syringe.“We need to take the blood out of that spot, but it’s their mate mark. We can’t slash it or puncture it.” I told her hurriedly and ran towards Luna Hailley.Papa also ran towards the crash cart, but Mayra stopped him.“His mate is related to you by blood. Try to keep her strength. Let me do this.” She instructed him hurriedly.“Maddie…. She is also marked. Check her too.
Madeline’s P.O.V. (Continued)“And they gave you everything that should have been hers. So, in a way, you are more their daughter than mine, and she is more mine than theirs. So, let’s call her Angel from now on. She lived that name and saved you back then.” His words were filled with honesty, pain, and determination.I felt proud in my heart. He was right. This was what I expected of him when I learned the truth. My parents deserved me, not because they saved me when they had a choice to save their own daughter, but because they made me what I am today.Beta Madeline Summers, a name that demands respect and admiration wherever I go. I was born from a fantastic pair of parents who sacrificed their lives to give me life and I was raised by another fantastic pair of parents who taught me everything that they know and could make me learn so that I could not only survive this world but also rule it.I heard my mother whimpering faintly. She was doing everything not to make me feel her pa
Madeline’s P.O.V.My whole body was aching so badly that I didn’t want to move a muscle. But this wasn’t the only painful thing to me.The most painful and shocking thing was to see my birth father beside me, holding my hand tightly, with a lost expression on his face. The connection between us was instant. I felt that as soon as I woke up. I thought that he was someone whom I know because his touch wasn’t unfamiliar to me.Now I understood why Mom and Dad were so worried and anxious when I learned about my birth parents. The connection was instant and strong.Stronger than what I had with Mom and Dad. I didn’t know how to react to the situation when all I wanted to do was cry aloud but couldn’t because my birth father seemed to cry at any time. The conversation between me and him went so smoothly that it didn’t feel like this was our first meeting ever. The way he comforted me, the admiration and pride on his face when he told me that I saved Mom and Hailley with Adolphus, that faint
Rita’s P.O.V. (Continued)“And you will not try to connect her, Rita. Your body is still weak, and her pain is still immense.” Hailley instructed me in the same way. I looked at her with a painful gaze. Sebastian immediately took Madeline’s hand after going back to her.Rita smiled sympathetically while looking at me. “She will need you later, Rita. Save your strength for her until they come back.” She said to me and I whimpered again. She was right. She was still weak. “Mom.” She groaned painfully, making me tempted to sit down but Hailley glared at me.“She is here, kiddo. You are okay.” Sebastian comforted her gently. At the same time, the door opened, and Mayra with a nurse entered the room.“I am glad that you didn’t sit up or do something to make me work overtime, Beta Rita.” She teased me with a mischievous smile on her face when she saw me as I was in front of the door.“Why is she in so much pain?” I asked her worriedly, ignoring the teasing.“Because her wolf shifted against
