Damien's pov
I pulled over in the driveway of my villa bug not without hitting away the trash can by the way. I tightened my hand on the steering wheel, recalling what had happened at the police station.
How could she do this to me? How was it so easy for Abigail to betray me this much? She decided on me, made me fall in love with her and in the end, hurt me so badly.
I grunted and punched the steering wheel so hard that it horned. "Fuck you, Abigail!" I was going to make her pay in the worst way. She made me lose my child and betrayed me this much. She wouldn't go unpunished and I will make sure of it.
I will make Milkyne City a terrible place for her. She will surely come back with her knees on the floor.
The knock on the car window brought back my attention to where I still was. I looked out and my rage went to a higher level, but I put my control to work. There was no need I be angry with Jenna anyway. She is the victim too.
I let out a deep breath and came out of the car. "Damien, are you alright? I heard the chaos happening here and had to run out. Are you hurt?"
"Jenna, I just need some rest. Stop pestering me with so many questions." I pleaded, making my way to the building.
"I have to ask. I am worried about you. You drove in as if you wanted to pull down the building and then, you honked so loud. What is the problem?"
I abruptly turned and faced her, holding up my hand. "I need some quiet, please Jenna. Let me be on peace."
"Peace? You haven't said anything to me since I came back. You haven't asked how I am faring or what happened to me. You have been so quiet and turning away from me like I was some plague that should be avoided."
"There is so much going on right now, Jenna and you are the least of my worries."
"Least of your worry? I was kidnapped and I lost my child all because of that stupid girl, Abigail."
"Don't you dare call her name again!" I snapped, letting go of the rage I tried to keep in. I had lost that control and couldn't help raising my voice at her. I watched as she moved back, trying to prevent me from letting out my rage on her. I don't plan to and will never do that. I just needed something or someone to help calm me down and Jenna wasn't helping.
"It's all because of her, right? You are so angry because of her?"
Not eating to listen to any more nag, I walked away, completely ignoring her. I know I was being harsh on her but he shouldn't have pestered me so much.
I walked back in and met Mother and Rose, seated in the living room both holding their glasses of wine.
"You are here, Damien."
I rolled my eyes and made to leave but halted when I heard a whisper. "Finally, we have gotten rid of that girl. I thought she wouldn't leave. She was a pain in the neck." Mother whispered to Rose, who laughed but quickly covered her mouth.
She nudged Mother to inform her I was staring at them and the two immediately kept quiet.
"Can no one talk about her again in this house? I don't want to hear it anymore?"
"Why?" Rose inquired and crossed her legs. "Shouldn't you be the most happy one making us? I mean, you have always hated her and were trying to look for Jenna. Jenna is back now and Abigail is gone. Doesn't it call for a celebration?"
"Rose is right." Mother stood up with a glass of wine and got to me. "You should join us. We've gotten the victory we have always wanted which includes a contract with the Conner's Empire." He informed with a huge grin playing across her face.
A contract with the Conner's Empire? They got my attention. I drew my brows together and climbed down the stairs. "A contract with the Conner's Empire? What do you mean? When did it happen?"
She laughed and patted my shoulder, "Ever since That bad luck left our house, things seem to be falling into place. With the Conner's Empire by our side, we will be able to pay our debts and become inevitable."
My coming has been facing so many backdowns and I feared its ruination would come sooner than later. The Conner's Empire was our only hope of redemption as a partnership with them would mean the debts getting paid for.
Mother brought out her phone and showed me an email message. It was a confirmation of their plans to give my company a try. It was so unbelievable that I couldn't contain the happiness surging through me. Finally, I needed to calm down, and for that moment, I forgot about what happened at the police station.
"Things are finally walking in our favor. Everything is coming into place and soon you will get married to Jenna and live the life you have always wanted." She further announced but I ignored them, only focused on the contract being accepted by the conglomerate.
I was still living over the moon when a new message came into my mother's phone. She tapped on it and the smile she had on her face slowly faded, being replaced by surprise.
"This can't be." She muttered ceiling up but whatever she was reading, wasn't good news. She finally lifted her gaze and shook her head. "Something happened?"
I collected the phone from her and went through the message, going almost through the same reaction as she did. My happiness was cut short just as it started.
Was there a mistake made? It has to be a mistake.
"What happened, Damien?" I heard Jenna ask.
I read through the message again, this time, taking in word by word, 'This is to inform you that your contract with the Connor Empire has been terminated.....' it wrote.
My body felt numb, I could feel my hands tied up behind my back, my eyes felt heavy, yet, I struggled to have them open.“Wakey wakey..dear cousin” Charlie said“W..what’s going on?” I asked in a hoarse voice.“You’ve got to wake up” she said again.I felt a slap across my face, my eyes shot open. “Charlie?” I struggled to speak.“Hey Abby, you’re finally awake” she said, a smile on her lips as she took off the hoodie from her head, crouching down to meet my gaze.“What are you doing?” I asked, noticing the blood dripping from my head.“I’m just reclaiming what’s mine, the Conner Empire, Cyrus, it’s all mine and you dared to take it from me, I can’t let you have what I’m supposed to have, you’ve been stealing from me way too much” she started, standing up.“What does Cyrus have to do with all this” I asked, wincing in pain.“I’ve loved him from the very beginning but you always have to have things your own way” she said, anger in her eyes.“Why didn’t you say something? You could’ve
“Just try to run to the bathroom, I’ll quickly close up the door” I whispered to her.The moment I unwrapped my arms around her, I rushed to the door, forcing it shut as she rushed into the bathroom.“What’s going on?” I muttered, forcing my back to the door to keep it closed.“Who on earth called reporters to our home?” I muttered under my breath.“Jenna! No wonder the house was empty when we walked in..it was indeed a trap” I said, quickly rushing to the bathroom door as I lightly tapped on the door.“Abigail, how are you coping?” I asked, I could hear light sobbing.“I’m so sorry about that..please just get some clothes and I’ll drive you home” I said, rushing back to the closet to get her some dry clothes.I took up some clothes from the closet and knocked on the door.“Abigail, I have some clothes..” I said “I’ll look away, please wear some clothes so I can take you home” I said, looking away from the door. Then I heard the door open and my hands went empty, she had taken the clo
Abigail’s POVIt’s been weeks since I had gotten a whiff of the rumor that started years ago, I searched through the database and all records, and they all came back with the same result, the Conners being the rightful owners of the empire.‘I think I should call up Charlie and clear up the misunderstanding,’ I thought to myself when I heard her voice from my phone.I noticed it was coming from the camera set up done by Cyrus.“I’m going to make her lose Conner Empire..once she falls right into our trap” she said onto her phone.I couldn’t phantom who she could be speaking to but I had a pretty good guess. After what Damien had told me about Jenna and her plot, it had become obvious that she was in fact in cohorts with.“You need to let her get into your home, I’ll make sure she walks right into our trap” she repeated into the phone, using the voice changer which made me confirm my suspicions, Jenna had no idea who she was.“Abigail’s going to stay at your fiancé’s house, you are to o
Damien’s POV‘Why on earth would she send a message to me like this?’ I thought to myself as I sat behind my desk.‘If she was having a fallout with her cousin, why would it affect me?’ My mind had been restless since the moment I had opened the envelope and what if she was right about us being under surveillance, then it would truly be a very disaster.I looked around the room, there was nothing that seemed out of place, the more I scanned the room, the more I doubted her words. For the whole day, I sat restless for fear of being watched but most importantly, I feared that this would cause our collaboration to take a drastic turn, she may not be as available as she was to come around and handle the work with me.After working hours, I took up my bag as it was time to get home, I wasn’t even able to accomplish much as my mind kept wandering back to Abigail and her safety.Taking my car key into my hand, I immediately got a call on my mobile, in an attempt to take my phone together wit
I looked at the picture and the newspaper in front of me.“She forgot to burn these, didn’t she?” I muttered under my breath.“If that’s all, you can leave” Cyrus said to the staff as she quickly scurried away.I stared at the evidence that showed more of the truth. She must have hidden them and completely forgotten about it.“That was taken in spring break, years ago” Cyrus muttered, holding onto a picture of the three of us smiling together and rustled up news papers that were wrapped close to the pictures with a carving of the headline ‘THE CONNERS ARE NOT THE TRUE OWNERS OF THE EMPIRE, GIVE BACK THE COMPANY TO ELIZAR’ it read. The paper dated back to twenty years ago, I stood there, frozen, unable to understand what was happening.“My parents stole the empire?” I muttered.“Let’s not jump into conclusions Abby…it may be something else, this happened twenty years ago, it may not even be real” Cyrus said, taking the paper off my hands.“I mean we don’t know that..this may be what’s
Jenna’s POVI had done as C had instructed, I put in a listening device in Damien’s car key very early this morning. I didn’t understand how C had gotten the package so fast and so late at night and how he knew my address but I didn’t care, if he was able to get the number on my new phone, he definitely had his means that I couldn’t question.“Ma’am” the helper called out, snapping me back to reality.“Yes” I shot her a nasty glare.“Your phone’s been ringing..I brought it down for you” she said, handing me the phone, the caller ID was unknown.I quickly dismissed her with a signal as I answered the phone call.“Have you done what I’ve asked?” C asked.“Yes” I paused to look around me, the living room was empty.“Although I haven’t been able to get any sounds from him since after I heard his car move but it seems that your fiancé has started to lose interest in you” he said.“Wh..what do you mean? What did he say?” I asked, even when deep down I knew the truth, he wasn’t as attracted
