93. I Will Return to You

I took a deep breath, sticking out my tongue to wet my lips which felt numb. Nestled in Steve's large arms, he waited patiently for my answer. "I—" stammered, looking into his dark eyes, I forgot what vocabulary I wanted to put together into a sentence.

"I don't want you to be stressed, or depressed because of the endless demands. Always asking for proof and you keep covering up the evidence as best you can. Come on, run away from all this, leave everyone who thinks you are evil, and so on. Or, you already love Pedro. You want to marry him?"

I saw jealousy in his eyes, but not selfishness. He would want to give in if I asked him to step down and choose Pedro. Am I selfish, if I close my eyes not to care if he already has a girlfriend? Or will I be able to harm him if Pedro wants me later?
