Fenris

"Fuck me."

She said it loud enough for the front rows to hear. The words cut sharp and clean through the freezing northern air. She reached down, her hands gripping the dark, heavy spider-wool of her dress right at the thigh slits. She didn't hesitate. She didn't look back to gauge my reaction. With one violent, completely unashamed motion, she pulled the entire garment straight up and bunched it tightly around her waist.

Even with the cold outside, she didn't shiver. She didn't flinch. H

  • My Second Chance Mate is a Barbarian    Author’s Note ❤️

Hey guys,I sincerely apologize to anyone who has unlocked a chapter only to find that it was accidentally posted in Spanish instead of English. This has happened because I’ve been working on translating different versions of my books, and unfortunately, some of the covers look identical. With everything I’ve been dealing with lately and the stress I’ve been under, I have occasionally ended up uploading the wrong version without realizing it.I know that being stressed isn’t an excuse, especially when you’ve spent your hard-earned money to unlock these chapters, and I’m truly sorry for the inconvenience and frustration this may have caused.Unfortunately, correcting these mistakes isn’t always as simple as editing the chapter myself. The platform doesn’t allow authors to make independent changes once a chapter is published, so I have to rely on my editor to make the necessary corrections. This can be even more difficult when the mistake happens over the weekend and my editor isn’t ava

  • My Second Chance Mate is a Barbarian    442 It's Strange Talking To Her

SeraI held the phone and waited. Mina watched from the bed, silent.I did not know what would happen next, or what to expect from it.Amara made a small questioning sound and reached out to touch the thing in my hand. I moved it away from her. She tipped her head, understanding none of it, and let her hand fall. The line clicked and buzzed. Connected.I held the phone in both hands, cradling it to my ear as if that could help it work. My own voice came back to me, tinny and far away."Lyra... it's me." A pause. "It's Sera."I closed my eyes and waited, holding my breath, hoping against reason that she would answer.I had not spoken to her in ten weeks. She had no reason to want to hear from me. But I tightened my grip on the phone, knuckles going white, as though I could will her onto the other end of it.Mina was sitting close, her brow furrowed. Amara stood beside her with a hand on Mina's shoulder, watching the phone. I nodded at Mina to show her that someone was there. The silence

  • My Second Chance Mate is a Barbarian    441 What Was That For?

LyraI knelt on the floorboards, phone forgotten at my ear. The room spun slowly, caught in a snare of brandy and shock.Ten weeks. Ten godsdamned weeks. Not a word from her, not one. Mother had said it and I had not wanted to believe it and here it was anyway. She had forgotten us. She had gone north and she had forgotten us.No. No, I wanted this. I needed it. I needed to hear her voice.I opened my mouth to speak and nothing came out. The sounds hitched in my throat like a rough pull on a rope, strangling me silent. I wanted to say too many things at once and could not say any of them."I'm so sorry," Sera said on the other end of the line, her voice faint and wavering. "I've missed you so much."I choked on it. Ten weeks, and that was all I got.Nadia's face swam into focus. Her brows knitted and she reached for me. I jerked away, trying to breathe.I opened my mouth again and still no words came.I opened my mouth, and a single word tumbled out. "Sera."Nadia was up and stumbling

  • My Second Chance Mate is a Barbarian    449 I'm Going Home

FenrisHalvard drained his cup, his eyes flicking to the fire. "The North's not what it was." His voice was low, heavy with resentment. "We kept the South out, kept our bloodline strong. But look at us now."I kept quiet, watching the flames lick at the logs."We were wild, once," Halvard continued. "Undefeated. Unconquerable." He snorted, a bitter sound. "And the North now? It's dying. Turning soft anyway."The fire spat, embers scattering. I shifted in my chair, listening to him."We forbade the South's machines, kept to the old ways. And for what?"He set the cup down. "Those packs that fell. Redhand. Thornwood. They were east of here. Northern packs, both of them. Bred the same as you were bred, carrying the same blood as you and me."I said nothing."They still couldn't stop what came for them." He let that sit. "That says something."I felt the chill down my spine."They've grown stronger over the centuries," Halvard said. "We've grown weaker. The gap's been closing for a long ti

  • My Second Chance Mate is a Barbarian    439 Butcher Reborn

Fenris"There was no North then. Only the pack. The Old Council came together, and with the Moon Goddess, they bred stronger wolves. Wolves who could stand against the Lycans.""You know the story of the Butcher. But you may not know where he came from. The Goddess herself came to our land... and she mated with an Alpha's slave. The first Butcher came from that."I stared at him. I did not need to speak... He could see the disbelief in my face."It's the truth," he said. "The slave was strong, but he was also obedient... He submitted to her. From that union a child was conceived and born. That child was the first Butcher. His line strengthened, and that is how the North was made. You come from that child. You are his bloodline, reborn.""I was bred from a slave?" I said."The blood of a slave, and the blood of a Goddess. That's what you are. That's what the Butcher has always been." Halvard's face was grim. "The Lycans left us with nothing but corpses. They nearly wiped us out entirely

  • My Second Chance Mate is a Barbarian    438 Lycan Brutality

FenrisI felt the weight of Halvard's gaze on me. He took a long pull from his cup and set it back down."Do you know why the wolves of the North are the size they are, Fenris?"The fire popped. I turned my eyes to the hearth, my gut tight."I don't.""There is a reason they are bigger than animals should be. Stronger."I said nothing. I looked at my own cup."You don't believe me.""No."He nodded slowly. "I would not believe it either, if I heard it from another man." He paused. "But you are a Northerner. You were born and bred among the North's wolves. You know they are not like other creatures.""I do," I said. My voice was even. Inside me something stirred, dark and uncertain.Halvard nodded again. "But we are not born. We are made things."I dropped my eyes to the floor. Something in me was starting to rise, a slow seethe of anger and denial. "No man can make a wolf."Halvard was quiet a long moment. When he spoke, his voice was slow and measured."You know breeding. What a man b

LyraShe ignored me. She dropped to her knees, her hands sliding down to the waistband of my trousers. She shoved her fingers inside the fabric, gripping my hips tight. With one sharp pull, she dragged the pants and my underwear down to my ankles. I stepped out of them, kicking my boots off in the

LyraThe voice didn't belong to Nadia. It didn't belong to me. It came from the metallic object resting directly behind my hip.Nadia froze. • My Second Chance Mate is a Barbarian    09 Talking To No One

SeraNight fell fast, and with it, the temperature plummeted. We had three fires going, but the heat didn't seem to travel more than six inches past the flames. I sat on a log by the middle fire, pulling the wagon fur around my shoulders, shivering so hard my teeth were literally clicking together.
