6. The Marriage

"Maria is alone at home ain't she? I'm afraid she will have to pay for what you did..."

 

I froze when I read all those messages.. 

Maria!! Oh no!! 

"Sabrina what's wrong what happened!?" Tia asked as I stood up in panic and ran towards the exit. 

 

"Tia can you please take a cab? I have to rush home. It's an emergency! Please call me when you reach home ok?" I set as I was already pulling the car out of the driveway. 

 

"Ok no problem just inform me if there is some problem. Ok?"  

"Thanks sweetheart." I said and I jumped on the accelerator making my way towards my house.

 

I arrived at my house in just minutes. As soon as I entered the main gate, the sight in front of me was sickening! There were bodies everywhere! 

The gaurds! All of them were down! 

 

He must have had some help, there is no way one person can defeat so many people.

I rang the doorbell a few times but no one answered. 

"Oh shit! This shouldn't be happening!"

Search for the keys in my bag and hurriedly opened the door. The sight in front of me was terrifying. I dropped on my knees looking at all the blood on the floor. It was everywhere! But I didn't saw the source of it. 

 

"Oh my god! Maria!!" I finally spotted her lying beside the dining table. I rushed towards her 

the blood was gushing out and pooling beside her head. 

 

"M- Maria!!! I screamed. My hands were shaking.. I didn't know what to do. What if she is dead!? What if she leaves me too!? 

 

I instantly picked up my phone and called Dad. 

"Sabrina how many times I told you to not call-" He was saying but I cut him.

"Dad! someone entered the house and attacked Maria!"

"What!? Are you ok?"

"I am completely fine Dad. I'm taking her to the hospital, please, you have to come! she is still unconscious." 

"Wait, I will send a driver, don't go alone."

"No! I can't wait for your driver, it will be too late. I'm taking her to the city hospital, come as fast as you can. And bring the police with you." I said and cut the phone. I don't have time to answer his questions.

 

I somehow dragged Maria and laid her on the backseat of the car. 

 

"Stay with me Maria everything will be alright." I kept talking to her as I drove to the hospital. 

"I'm bringing an emergency patient, please send out a stretcher." I called the hospital.  

 

An hour later I was sitting beside her bed. The doctors said that she lost a lot of blood that's why she might not wake up for some time, otherwise she is ok. 

But I need her to wake up. I need to know who was the one who attacked her..

 

She looks so fragile and weak, just lying there... 

Hot tears rolled down my face.. I covered my mouth as a thob threatened to escape. This is all my fault. 

He hurt her because of me! 

 

Just then my phone buzzed again. 

 

UNKNOWN

"Hope you've learned your lesson." 

And I threw my phone away in anguish. I can't do this anymore!! I can't live under his fear! 

 

Suddenly the door burst open and dad came in. 

"What happened!?" He was looking worried. 

"Let's go out first." I said as I didn't wanted to disturb Maria.

 

I told him everything. About the stalker, about what happened at the bar and my secret admirer. 

 

"What!? You've been getting flowers and notes and threatening messages and you are telling me now!?

 

"Dad I- " I had no words... I knew I should've told him when I started receiving the message. I knew I made a mistake.  

 

"I'm gonna find those bastards." He said gritting his teeth. 

"Xavier was right! I should have listened to him." He growled. That name send shivers down my spine. 

 

"Xavier? What did he say!?"  I said as I stood up. 

That was the last name I ever wanted to hear. 

 

"He asked me for your hand in marriage.. and I said yes."  He said and I froze.

 

"What!?" I couldn't believe my ears.

"He wanted to marry you right now. But I said no because you are too young. But now I see he was right." 

 

"W- what!? M- marriage!? Dad, what are talking about!? I'm only 21!" 

 

"Yeah and past your adult line. You can legally marry now." 

 

"But dad I don't wanna! That too with Xavier!? Don't you know him!?" 

"Sabrina it's not about choice! This is a political marriage. Xavier has offered me 25% shares of his company and your security and in return he just wants you. Additionally our family will be very powerful after this marriage. Besides, the mansion is fully packed with security guards, if the person can enter and harm someone then he can do anything. You're safe only when you marry Xavier." He said.

 

"So you're finally selling me off? And the last one does not even sound like a reason!!"

"Sabrina! Don't say it like this!" 

 

"Then how do I say it like dad? You know how big of an asshole that guy is! He isn't even gonna stay loyal to me! He f*cks a new wh*re every single day! I don't want a husband like him!" I cried.

 

"That's enough, let's just go home and we will discuss it later.." 

"I am not leaving Maria." 

"She is safe here Sabrina and I have my man here to take care of her. I will tell you as soon as she wakes up."

 

"And I told you to bring the police." 

"We don't need the police Sabrina."

"No dad! You think you know everything but you don't!" I screamed and walked out of there.

 

I ran to my room as soon as we reached home.

How can he do this to me? Am I even his daughter or not!?

 

I slumped on the bed and cried my eyes out. I can't do this anymore... I want my freedom. I'm sick of living under other people!!

 

Just then I heard the terrifying sound of my phone notification. 

Him again...

"Don't cry sweetheart. My heart hurts when you cry."

"Don't worry you'll be mine soon."

"Go to hell you fucking basterd!!"  and I clicked send.

 

I will not give in to him, neither will I let him hurt my loved ones..

My thoughts aimlessly wandered to my secret admirer. In my moments of sadness.. I could only think about him..His olive green eyes that held so much love.

His soft thin lips curving in a smile. What would it feel to kiss them?

 

huh... I could only dream about him.. now that my dad knows about him, he won't ever let him near me again..
