Lu ended the call and turned to face Richard who has been watching her make the call with a scorn on his face. "You should wipe that look on your face, it's ugly."
He rolled his eyes. "So, what's the update?"
A coy smile played on Lu's lips. She turned away from him, walking to the window. "Well, Richard, not like my job is any of your business, seeing that I don't also report to you." She shot him a look to make sure he got her message. "But if you must know, we're going out for lunch tomorrow. Now that you know, please leave my office, some of us have a job to do around here. Also, I have to get ready for my lunch date."
But Richard didn't move, instead he took a step closer to Lu. "I know you always think you are the best-"
"Think?" She scoffed. "No Richards, it's you who think you are the best, which you're not. I know I'm the best, which I am." She clicked her tongue at the annoyed look on his face. "But if you won't leave my office, I guess I Cal leave it for you. Try not to touch anything or sniff around." She took her bag and walked away, leaving him behind.
On her way out the building, she brought out her phone and dialed. "Hey, are you around?" Lu spoke into the phone, reaching into her bag to grab her car key.
"Not really, but if you need me, I'll be there." It was Khalil, her childhood and closest friend. Khalil and Lu were raised in the same orphanage and were both taken in by Sir John. "Where are you?"
"Leaving the dome." The dome was where they operate. Sir John had the place built after his third successful operation. They had been there for years now, though it was far more modernized now than it was years ago. "Meet me at home, we're going shopping. I have a date.
"What?" Khalil exclaimed. "You have a date with who?" He tried his best not to sound jealous, but he was fooling no one. Khalil had been in love with Kelly for years. As a child, he had always wanted to be close to her and had thought that it was just because she was nice to him, but as a teenage boy, the feelings grew and got deeper. Kelly knew of his feelings also, but she was grateful that he hadn't brought it up yet. She only considered him a friend and didn't want that friendship ruined. "Who do you have a date with?" He asked again.
"It's the new target Khalil." Her tone had gone lower now because she was in the street now. When she got into her car, she sighed stretching her legs out before speaking again. "His name is Felix and according to Sir John, he has a fat wallet." She giggled. "He's also really beautiful. But it's just for work," she added that part quickly. "It's not like it's a real date or anything, but still, I have to look nice."
"Fine, I'll come meet you, just text me the address."

They had ended up buying a simple red dress, Lu had wanted to go for something more revealing and seducing, but Khalil had to remind her that the persona she was playing is Kelly, a charity organizer, not Kim, the stripper from Brooklyn.
"The black dress was still nice," she said to him as he drove her back to her apartment.
"It was too tight, short and revealing."
Kelly wanted to ask him why he cared so much, but decided not to. She was trying her best to avoid any awkward conversations between them. So far she has been successful, she didn't plan to ruin that now.
"So, how have you been?" Khalil asked after they had been walking together in silence.
"Good."
He glanced at her before looking back at the road. "Good? When are you ever just 'good'?"
"Now Khalil, I'm good now. I mean, what isn't good in everything that's going on? This deal is going to bring a whole lot of money in and who knows, maybe after this I could get that vacation I've always wanted on some...fancy Island? Or a beautiful place in a country I don't know exist."
Khalil chuckled at that. "Classic Lu."
Lu had chosen a nice restaurant, just the right place to have a conversation, amongst other people but with enough privacy not to be heard by others. "Hi," she said when he arrived. "Thanks for agreeing to meet me.""I was actually looking forward to meeting you again, Kelly." She smiled at that. "I... probably should have collected your number, I wouldn't have taken an entire week to reach out to you."Lu was surprised, she hadn't even made a move yet and she was sure he was flirting with her. But she didn't want to play with it, she had to keep everything professional. So she brushed it off with a little laugh and decided to change the topic. "So, tell me more about yourself, where are you from? What do you do?" She didn't care about this though, but it was essential."Will you like to eat something?" He asked instead of answering her question. "Don't worry, you can ask whatever you want to later, I'm not running away." Felix really wanted to pursue something with her. Though he kne
"How did it go?" Lu had to hold back the scream thah almost poured out of her lips. She turned to her right to see Sir John and Richard in her office. "I heard you went on a little date with him yesterday, did you convince him to sign the papers?" It was Richard speaking as usual. Lu eyed him in irritation. She hated how Richard spoke to everyone, trying to look superior, when he was nothing even close to that."When did my business become yours Richard? Don't you have other things to focus on?" His look hardened. "I'm sure there are tens of women who are waiting for you to call them back. You should worry more about them, than on what I do. Besides, I've told you countless times, I do not report to you. Now, leave my office." He didn't move. Sir John sighed and turned to face Richard. "Richard, excuse us." Richard was shocked and hurt to here that from Sir John, who rolled his eyes when he saw the expression on Richard's face. "Please, you two need to start getting along. Lu, Richar
The first thing she noticed when the door to his apartment door was him and then, his cologne. Lu took in his neat appearance before meeting his eyes and drool-worthy smile. “Hi,” she greeted. She was afraid she might say something quite embarrassing and decided to focus at the task at hand- getting him to sign the papers in her handbag. Raising the bottle of red wine, she added, “You look good.”“I could say the same about you. You look stunning in that dress,” Alex replied, pulling the door open wider. “Come in.” “Thank you.” Her shoulders tensed when she heard the door lock click shut. He could not have found out about her identity, could he? “What’s cooking?” she asked with a light chuckle.Felix answered with a bright smile. “Spaghetti but I must warn you, my cooking will steal your heart.”“Might not be the only thing stolen,” She quipped. At his incredulous stare, she quickly asked, “Where do I put this?”Felix took the bottle from her and said, “Let me have that. Why don’t y
If there was anything William wanted right now, it would be peace and quiet. After discussing with contractors over the construction of bridges in the mainland to ease transportation, he listened to the elderly complain about themselves and the youngsters of nowadays. It made his head hurt. He would have preferred sending a delegate but if there was anything he had learned overtime is that people loved to see evidence that people in power were actually working. And that was why he hoped the paparazzi taking photos outside got his good sides to upload online. As soon as he finished appeasing the old geezers, William hurried towards his car, smiling until his cheeks hurt and waving until his wrists fell numb. Did it seem like he wanted to get away badly? He lowered his strides and waved even more, winking at the women on the side of the street. The crowd of people wanting to see him continued to increase by the minute. When he entered his car, his smile died. William slouched and nodde
Perhaps he had pushed a little too hard into convincing Kelly working with him. She had such a displeased look on her face, it hurt him. Felix quickly covered his suggestion with a laugh and claimed it to be a joke. Kelly fell quiet for the rest of the evening but nodded. He had fucked this one up big time. She must be so appalled by him now. And now, not a single call or text over the past two days. Adam suggested calling her but he was not even sure she would answer him. After gathering enough courage, he ventured into a coffee shop and called her. To his surprise, she answered.“Hi. It’s me, Alex.” He winced at the lie. He really wished he could tell her his real name but that would ruin the whole purpose of his anonymity.“Hi. I know.”“Yeah.” He sounded dumb right then, didn’t he? “Are you busy?”“Right now?” She fell quiet for a while that all Felix could hear was his own heavy breathing. “No, I am free. Why?”“Would you like to talk over coffee? The weather is a bit crappy but
William never screwed up and somehow he managed to screw it.Just this one time. The red margin in his bank account glared at him so bad, he wanted to make it cry but he was the one who wanted to cry. How the hell was he going to pay the dealer his money after the thousands of powder he bought the past week?Fuck! What if he borrowed some money from Sam but she would grow too nosy in his business. And then there was the fucking white envelope that was mailed to him first thing this morning. In it contained incriminating evidence of his drug dealing and it made him pissed. Who the fuck was the person that thought they could scare him like this? How much did they want?Fuck, he can’t be broke. Just how much did he spend?“Mother, I need your help.” He decided his mother was the only other weak link he could go to. She was busy taking care of the plants in the garden.“Yes, my love. What do you need?”“I am a bit short on cash and I promised to donate money to the missionaries going to
"I'll pay you," William repeated for the uptenth time. The dealer remained a distrustful stance as he regarded him. While William wanted to persuade the man regarding his growing debt, the bottles of drugs lying on the table enticed his mind. He wondered what the drugs could do, what euphoria it would bring him. "You have told me that many times. Your Highness, if you want the top quality, you have to pay or else.""I told you I hate being threatened. You do not respect me.""I only respect those with money.""And I have money, lots of it.""I don't see any money. Do you?""Don't be antsy," William gritted, forcing a smile on his face. This was beyond embarrassing. "I will pay you tomorrow. No more postponement, I promise."He might as well get himself a loan. Or would his brother dearest be willing to lend him some? He shuddered at the thought of borrowing money from his twin. William would rather die than do so. A loan, it is. He sauntered out of the private night club out on t
A foggy haze hung in the morning air, painting New York a garish coat of gray. A bird nested on a willow tree ruffled its feathers once and then preened. A lone song from its beak pierced the still of the morning as it flew away.Dear God, Felix breathed and sighed. His shoulders heaved once as his arms folded behind him, and the glass window he stood in front of provided a pristine view of the city. Almost ethereal; like a haunted graveyard, but he did not care for ghosts or hallowing haunts. He was deep in thought.“Felix?” A voice called from behind the heavy wooden door.It was Samantha. He knew it would be. No one else called him Felix here in New York, and no one else called out instead of knocking. He sighed. “Door’s open.”The door flung open and Samantha waltzed in with a tea set in her hands, somehow still walking as graciously as she would at court. As if the queen were watching her right now, as she always did when she was younger, polished cane in hand and flowing white g
