Chapter 16

Isobel

The school proceeded as usual for me the following day. I found joy in spending time with my friend Lorrie in the bustling cafeteria, where the aroma of grilled chicken and mashed potatoes wafted through the air. The anticipation of today's special menu added a layer of excitement to our normal lunch routine.

Patiently, we stood in line, eagerly awaiting our turn to get our food. To kill some of the boredom, we decided to chat about our favorite topic to discuss, our werewolf idol, the Midnight Wolf.

When our moment arrived, I made a polite request to the lunch lady, "Can you add some extra pepper to my mash, please?"

“Gladly,” she grinned. She turned her back on me for a quick moment, and when she came back, I noticed a couple of peppers on top of my potato.

“Thank you,” I stated gratefully.

“Enjoy your food,” she said before turning her attention to the next hungry student in line.

Lorrie and I settled at our usual table, engrossed in conversation about the latest song by the
