Chapter 3

Aвтор: Perfect Timing
I headed home after I was done. While I was on the road, Simon called me on the phone. "I have a business trip that will last a few days, Eliza. Take good care of yourself at home, and don't take off that pendant Denise gave you."

Was Simon really going on a business trip? I would know the answer if I asked, but even if I did, it would just be out of normal curiosity.

I trusted Simon a lot in my past life, and I believed everything he said without a doubt. In this life, I had given up on Simon. I would not believe anything he said, much less feel the need to ask any questions.

I had single-handedly built my company, and after marrying Simon, he resigned from his original job and took the initiative to help me manage my company. When I got pregnant, Simon convinced me to rest at home and hand the company over to him.

Denise supported the idea as well. "It upsets Simon to see you working so hard. He doesn't want you to overexert yourself. You can rest without a worry at home until your due date with Simon helping you out. All you need to do is be a happy future mom."

After I died in my previous life, they took over my company and usurped the fruits of my hard labor. This time, there was no way I was going to let them take anything from me.

Denise showed up again after a few days. She kept staring at my neck the moment she entered the door to confirm that I still had the pendant around my neck.

I saw her sigh with relief when she saw me still wearing it. Denise placed her phone on the table, took out a promotional pamphlet from her purse, and passed it to me.

She looked at me tauntingly, "Take a look at this, Eliza. It's a luxurious center for postpartum care that my boyfriend booked for me. It costs more than 200,000 dollars per month."

Simon claimed that he was going on a business trip, but he was really taking Denise to make a booking at the center. That center was the best and most expensive in the city. I could not bear to spend so much on myself, but Simon was using the money I had saved to spend it on Denise.

My face fell as I took the pamphlet from Denise, and I pretended to be mad. "You're about to go into labor soon, yet as your sister, I've never seen the baby's father before. When will you let me meet him?"

Denise looked shy as she went to the sofa and sat down, while helping herself to the fruits on the table. "Don't be anxious, Eliza. You'll meet him once my baby is born."

That was when Denise's phone, which was on the table, suddenly rang. I glanced at the phone and saw the name on Denise's phone screen displaying as 'Honey'. The call was from her boyfriend, who had never shown himself before.

I knew 'Honey' was Simon.

The phone was near me, so I reached out to pick it up and said out loud on purpose, "Denise! Your future hubby is calling you. I'll pick the call up on your behalf, all right?"

Denise panicked when she heard me, and she jumped from the couch to hurry over to me to snatch the phone from my hand. However, she slipped and lost her balance. She slammed to the ground with a loud crash, with her belly taking the impact.

  • My Sister Gave Me a Lethal Pendant   Chapter 8

I handed evidence of Denise and Simon cheating on me to the lawyers to process the divorce. Simon was shameless in court as he insisted that I give him half of my company, savings, and house. "Don't you want our son? You can take him!"I laughed angrily. "I bought the house before we got married, Simon! If you want the company, I can give it to you, but the savings are mine!" After a few rounds of fights, Simon finally agreed to take the company, while the rest belonged to me.Once the divorce papers were finalized, I sold the house through a real estate agent and bought a new house in another city to settle down there. It was also around the same time that my secretary called me, "Ms. Carter, the opening ceremony for the new company is about to start.""Alright." I handed my son over to my grandmother after hanging up. I had gotten my secretary to secretly move all of the company's finances and main businesses over to the company I had newly registered. Simon was a fool for not

Just as Simon was about to leave, the door opened. It was Denise! Simon had told her the password to our house. It had been a month since the last time I saw Denise, and I could hardly recognize her. Her belly had become flat, but she had lost the beauty and glamor she once enjoyed before she got pregnant. Denise's eyes looked blank and lifeless, while her skin was sagging like rags. Black cracks could be seen crawling all over her neck. There was something about her that seemed like she was rotting, which could be the backlash she had suffered from the blessed pendant.Denise suddenly turned to look at me, and her expression contorted when she saw me standing in front of her with glowing looks. She had a meltdown as she roared at me, "What did you do to me, Eliza? You turned me into this! Was it you? Were you the one who took my son from me?"At this point, there was no longer any reason for me to continue putting up an act. My expression turned dark. "Don't you know what you di

After Simon lost a son, he suddenly remembered he had another. When he returned from the hospital, he immediately rushed to my grandmother's place to see me, but no one was at the house. When Simon failed to find me, he started calling my phone crazily. I was in labor when he called, and when my grandmother saw him calling, she picked up the call to yell at him before blocking his number. When I heard the news, I smiled as I gave my grandmother a thumbs-up.I was producing enough milk for my baby post-delivery, and he even received a protection talisman from Papa Malachi. My son ate and slept well during that time. By the time we left the postpartum care center, he had grown into an adorable, chubby baby.I knew the time had come for me to take action against Simon and Denise. The private investigator I hired had provided me with ample evidence of them cheating on me, but I did not file for divorce right away. Simon would be getting it too easy if a divorce were the only thing I h

I tried my best to stifle my laughter when I saw the shock on Denise's face. "Grandma's sow is pregnant too. Didn't you say the pendant could bless the wearer to be safe and sound? That's why I let the sow wear it!"Denise was so mad that her fingers were trembling when she pointed at my neck to say accusingly, "What about that pendant around your neck? Why is there a second pendant?" I continued replying innocently, "Oh, this pendant? I got someone to customize another pendant that looks exactly like the one you gave me."It finally dawned on Denise why her belly had expanded so much during this time. She was so mad that she started roaring furiously, "I got that pendant for you! You're the only one who can put it on! How could you give it to the sow? You'll only cause me harm if you do that. Get that pendant back right now, Eliza!" I continued with my innocent act, "It's just a pendant, Denise. How could it cause you any harm? Does that pendant contain a dark secret?"What doe

Denise lay flat on the ground while clutching her belly hard, looking like she was in extreme pain. I was smiling, but I quickly changed into a worried expression, "Denise! Why did you get so agitated? You should be careful when you're so heavily pregnant. If anything were to happen to you, I might be the one going to that center your future hubby booked for you."Her phone continued ringing in my hand as I continued to tease her while pretending to pick up the call. "Denise, your phone won't stop ringing. Maybe I should get him to come over quickly and take you to the hospital…"Before I could finish my sentence, Denise quickly climbed up from the ground while suppressing her pain to snatch the phone from my hand. "No, it's alright. I'm… I'm fine. My boyfriend is really busy. Let's not disturb him."When Denise left my house, her face was contorted with a lot of pain, but she still reminded me to make sure I kept the pendant on at all times. I could not help laughing wildly in my
