Chapter 3

Author: Tomato Bun
Everyone suddenly understood.

A young male colleague scratched his head and said softly, "N-No way. Ms. Lawson may be still quite charming, but she looks much older than Mr. Graham, doesn't she? Mr. Graham already has Kylie. Would he really go for someone like this?"

The moment he said that, Amelia sneered.

"That's exactly why you can't underestimate women who know they're unwanted. You're a man yourself. Tell me, what kind of woman wouldn't you want to try?"

She gave me the side-eye.

"A woman with that much experience knows all kinds of tricks. How many men can resist that?

"She can pretend to be gentle and considerate. She can also act mature and understanding. Since she's older and shameless, she'll do anything to get what she wants."

Kylie's eyes turned red, and she sniffled.

"Christopher has always been a real gentleman. He's never even asked about my legs."

She paused before glancing at me.

"If someone hadn't encouraged him, he wouldn't have sent a message like that, would he?"

Another female colleague immediately chimed in.

"Exactly. Mr. Graham is always polite when he talks. He never chats with female employees unnecessarily. How could he suddenly send something like that? She must have made the first move."

Amelia pointed at my feet.

"And look at her. If her leg was really injured, how could she possibly wear high heels today?

"She was obviously trying to seduce Mr. Graham. She's shameless!"

Suddenly, everyone's gazes landed on my legs, and whispers spread through the crowd.

"She's already this old and still trying to be a mistress. Isn't that disgusting?"

"What mistress? She's more like an old hag. She couldn't attract older men, so she targeted a young guy like Mr. Graham who doesn't have much experience in relationships!"

I lowered my gaze and looked at my feet. I had been in such a hurry leaving home that I grabbed a pair of heels without thinking. I never expected them to be used as evidence against me.

Kylie bit her lip.

"Everyone, please don't say things like that. M-Maybe I really misunderstood."

"Misunderstood?"

Amelia raised her pitch by an octave.

"Kylie, you're just too kind! She's already stepping all over you, and you're still defending her?"

"Exactly, Kylie. Don't be afraid. We'll stand up for you!"

The people around her started backing her up.

Kylie's tears started welling up. It made her look extremely pitiful.

"B-But I really don't want to make things worse. Christopher won't be happy if he finds out."

Amelia sneered.

"Why would Mr. Graham be unhappy?

"If he found out you were bullied like this and did nothing, he'd be truly unhappy!"

"Exactly! Kylie, don't worry. There are so many of us here!"

"Yeah, the person who should be worried is her!"

The discussions around us grew louder. More and more people gathered.

Some people even pulled out their phones and started recording.

Kylie looked gentle and fragile, but the occasional flash of satisfaction in her eyes revealed her true thoughts.

Thinking about the way she spoke to me last night and how different she was acting now, I realized she was completely two-faced.

But people always judge based on first impressions. At this point, no matter what I said, they probably wouldn't believe me.

I snorted.

"Since all of you are convinced I seduced Christopher, why don't we call him right now and ask him what kind of relationship we actually have?"

I had just retrieved my phone when Amelia snatched it away and hurled it onto the ground.

"Trying to call him and complain? Don't even think about it!

"You're a shameless old woman who ruined someone else's relationship. You're old enough to be his mother. Do you really think Mr. Graham would take your side?"

"Is that why you lied to me, told me your parents were dead, and claimed to be pregnant?"Kylie's crying stopped instantly."I-I really am pregnant.""You're not."Christopher's voice was cold as ice."I already had someone investigate. You forged the pregnancy report."All color drained from Kylie's face.Slowly, she crouched down and cried until her entire body was trembling.Christopher finally turned away. He didn't look at her again."Leave."When Kylie was leaving, her eyes were terribly swollen. Her makeup was completely ruined from crying."Ms. Lawson, do you hate me a lot?"I sat on the sofa and looked at her."I don't hate you. I sympathize with what happened to you, but you lied to Christopher. I can't forgive that."Kylie lowered her head and was silent for a long while."I know I don't deserve Christopher, but I really do love him."It's not because he's rich, but because he understands me. No one has ever supported me the way he has."I sighed."Loving s

"Mom, I'm going to marry her. I want this child."She was wrong for what happened before, but I was wrong too. I'm the one who made her misunderstand things, and that's why you suffered so much at the company. If you need someone to blame, blame me instead!" Christopher exclaimed.Adam placed his coffee on the table. There was a soft clink."Do you have any idea–"I grabbed his hand and gently shook my head.I knew Adam too well.He was a man of uncompromising standards. With his personality, he would immediately throw the investigation results in Kylie's face and tell her to stay away from the Graham family. But I also knew Christopher. He had always been someone who valued relationships above everything else.Once he decided someone mattered to him, no one could change his mind.If we told him the truth right now, he wouldn't believe us. Instead, he would think we were deliberately targeting Kylie and trying to ruin his happiness. Some things were better seen than explained

I waved. I didn't have the energy to watch her act anymore."We still have things to deal with here. You should head back first."In the end, Kylie reluctantly left. She kept turning back after taking a few steps, but Christopher never stopped her. After she left, I said to Adam, "Look into her. If she's going to marry into the Graham family, we need to make sure she has a clean background."Adam nodded. He retrieved his phone and sent a message. The vet said Hammie only suffered minor internal bruising. There was no serious injury. It just needed to rest at home.Christopher finally relaxed. He sat on the couch while holding Hammie for a long time.Adam insisted that I stay in the hospital for three days to go through a thorough examination.During those three days, Kylie came to the hospital three times. The first time, she brought a fruit basket and flowers. She said she came to apologize.Christopher wasn't there. I asked the nurse to accept the gifts and didn't meet her.

"So Kylie was the one who asked Amelia to step forward?""Then why was she pretending to be innocent the whole time?""Who knows?"Kylie bit her lip, and tears kept falling down her face. She looked extremely wronged. But this time, no one went to comfort her.Meanwhile, Hammie was brought into the vet's examination room.Christopher stood in the hallway, leaned against the wall with his hands in his pockets, and lowered his head without saying a word.I sat on a bench nearby. There was a piece of gauze taped to my neck, and my knee was bandaged as well.Adam sat beside me with one hand resting on my shoulder. His thumb gently rubbed my nape back and forth."The quality of your company's employees is concerning," Adam said calmly.Christopher's body stiffened slightly."I'll deal with it.""How?"Christopher was silent for a few seconds. He then retrieved his phone. His voice returned to its usual calmness, but this time there was a hint of coldness in it."Amelia Jolie,

When they saw who had arrived, the female colleagues holding onto my collar froze. Their hands stopped in midair. They didn't know whether to continue or let go."M-Mr. Graham, why are you here?"Amelia immediately smiled and stepped forward. She wanted to greet my husband Adam, but he didn't even look at her. He walked straight toward me.He took off his suit jacket and draped it over my shoulders. He then gently checked my wounds.Christopher stood right behind Adam. His eyes were filled with shock and anger."What did you do to my mother?"Those words made everyone in the lobby freeze. Then came a collective gasp."What did Mr. Graham just call her? Mother?""Ms. Lawson isn't his mistress. She's actually Mr. Graham's mother!""Thank goodness we didn't listen to Amelia and help out."The whispers spread through the crowd. Some people looked relieved, while others looked terrified.Amelia's face turned pale. Her lips trembled, and she couldn't say a single word.Kylie stoo
