Chapter 49: I Heard Everything

Elsie's pov

"Maybe you heard wrong, atlas." Zoe smiled at him with an expression that instantly turned soft.

I stared at her in astonishment, wondering at the sudden departure of the woman whose face looked like an executioner's. Zoe was a deceptive person. She didn't show the side of her that she had shown me in front of Atlas.

The brunette beside her smiled and nodded. "Right, Atlas, you might have misunderstood. We didn't say anything to her."

They were so shameless. Didn't they cringe at themselves when they told that lie so easily. Didn't they feel guilty about the lies they told? If that's the case, they are the worst.

Zoe approached. "It's just a small misunderstanding." She tried to grab Atlas' hand and persuade him to calm down.

But Atlas seemed unfazed. He seemed unmoved, staring at Zoe with the same look he had when he entered earlier.

I tugged lightly on Atlas' hand that was clasping mine, making him turn his head towards me. "They're lying," I said, looking at Atlas.
