LOGINLuke has his back on me. Yet, it seems like he heard me approaching.
"Get him to talk and Do what you need to do, no matter what it takes. Make sure that person learns his lesson. I'll hang up now."
Right before I reach his desk, Luke hung up the video conference.
He ended the video before I can even see it.
"What is the conference about? Isn't it late already for that?"
Oh, is he just going to laugh now? What I heard wasn't anything laughable.
"You don't have to know. "
"Why? Is it that serious?"
"It's about work, nothing for you to be concerned about."
"Is it really about work? I thought I saw something else."
"Are you busy doing something?"
Luke leaves his chair and looks at me with a smiling face.
"Not now. You are here again. It's about the thunderstorm, right?"
"I hope I'm not disturbing you then."
"Come. Hold my hand and let's get you to bed, okay?"
I can only feel this way when I'm close to him. Is it alright to depend on him too much? Is this normal?
"I'm so used to you coming here whenever it is raining, or during thunderstorms."
"You're in high school now. Why are you still scared? "
Dad!
I sit in his bed next to him.
My heart is beating so fast. However, it is no longer because I am afraid of the thunderstorm.
"Are you feeling okay now?"
"Yes, I think so."
Luke pats my head like a kid and then caresses my face. I blushed the moment his fingertips touch my cheeks.
"Are you sure? You can tell me whatever is in your mind."
Dad is so kind to me, that's why I feel so guilty for feeling this way towards him.
Is this love? Or I am just misunderstanding my feelings?
"You look troubled. I don't think you're okay now but You can tell me anything. I'm all ears."
"Dad, are you still okay with me coming here? I want to be close to you this much."
"So, you're still scared of rain and thunder."
He tapped the bed next to him, telling me to climb up the bed.
"Of course, you're so precious to me."
"Dad, I said it already. I'm okay now since I'm here in your bedroom."
"Then it's settled. Come up to bed. You should be taking a rest now."
I hope there will be another chance. For now, I will just keep it to myself.
Once I’m on the bed, I immediately felt safe and relaxed. I forgot about the things I were worried about that night.
I gently lay my back on the bed. I reached for my cow doll on the bedside.
"Good night. Sleep well."
"Good night, Dad. "
I close my eyes and felt someone putting a blanket on me.
It feels much warmer now. This person next to me could be the reason.
I hold my cow doll closely and then fall asleep.
******
It is morning and I was half asleep. I heard a knock on the door.
"Wake up. You will be late for school! "
"It's so early, Dad. I still have time. Just give me five more minutes of sleep."
"You have to leave the bed now."
I reluctantly get up. I stretched my arms upward and yawned.
"Come on, fix yourself now. I'll have someone drop you off at school."
I changed my clothes.
I arrive at school. As soon as I enter the classroom, the Casanova, Jason Connelly, comes up to me.
"Good morning! You look beautiful today. As always. "
It's Jason, a friend of mine. I will try to avoid him and greet him nicely.
"You really know how to play with words, Jason. I know you tell that to your girlfriends. "
"Are you being sarcastic to me? It's true, though. "
"Then maybe I should say thank you so we can move on already."
"Don't you think it's nice to have a handsome face greet you every morning?"
"Uhmmm ... Jason, you can't always be with me. I don't want to be in trouble."
"Good morning, Jason. Thanks for the validation."
"Of course! We are friends, right? Compliments are no big deals."
"No wonder you have numerous girlfriends."
"Says who? You're making blush, you know."
"Come on, everybody knows that."
"It's just a normal way of saying hi. I'm glad that that made you happy."
"You too look good today."
I and Jason continue with our conversation, not aware of the piercing stares coming from the corner of the room.
Luke Witts saw you having a deep thought.“Stop your head from running wild. We need to go early tomorrow. We have to get you some clothes to wear.”I was interrupted in thinking.“What did you say again? Sorry. I didn't hear.”“To the mall. We’re going to buy your dress for the wedding.”I and Luke Witts go to a jewelry shop. The rest of the customers in the jewelry store have been shown out early.I don't need the jewelry I thought we are buying clothes. What's going on?Uhm. I thought we are going to buy some clothes for the wedding but why are we heading to a jewelry shop?Luke just looks at me with his blank emotionless face.He always does this. He is so confusing. When does he get angry? happy? sad?I guess I just got used to it.“Ops! The shop is already closed I guess we just have to go buy some clothes now.”Without a word, he grabs my hand and we both enter the shop. Surprisingly, it opened.“Hi there! How can I help you? Are you looking for something specific or can I reco
“Aside from what happened that night, I have been good to you, dad.”“That's not the point.”His voice doesn't seem colder than it usually is. It's working.I even walk closer to him and the distance seems to make Luke uncomfortable.“What are you doing?”I touch his shoulders and slowly rub them to feel his emotions.I know it's a mistake and I only did that because it will never happen again. That would be the last. The good rubs I'm giving him make me feel that he isn't going to be mad. It works!“Take your hands off me and go to bed.”“You should follow what I say. I’m doing this for your own sake.”Oh! The box that contains the hyacinth necklace just suddenly fell out of my bag.“Who gave you that?”“Oh! It's a graduation present from a classmate. Aw. Isn't it sweet, dad?”I was busy looking at the necklace in amusement and it was later when I notice that his mood has changed.Wait, what?! Is he mad again now? What have I done this time?“Why would a classmate give a graduation p
When I was about to leave, I heard the sound of the guy being knocked down on the floor by Jason. It stopped me.He glanced at me. It's my first time seeing Jason eye-to-eye again. I don't know what to say. Before I even think of what to say, he looks back at the man to continue punching him. That stare doesn't seem friendly. Is he mad at me?Jason gave enough punches for the man to barely move.I paid less attention to that crazy pervert and focus more on the fact of meeting Jason for the first time in a long time. The way he looks changed. It drastically did. And I am now having a hard time. How do I approach him?“Jas--- wait!”But just as I’m about to call his name, he runs away and vanishes into the crowd. I chase him.“I don't care if you hate me. I have been waiting for this moment to come. We have to talk.”I frantically searched the dance floor for Jason Connolly, but I couldn’t find him.Where did he go? “Jason, please give me a chance to speak to you this time. Please.”I g
“Haha! Did you just pinch me? I will have you tonight no matter what.”“No! I won't let you do that to me! Let me go you, filthy moron! Get away from me.”I give my strength to untangle his hand from my arms.He is just so strong that my physical efforts turned useless. I hate to feel helpless.“Come here you dirty little bitch. I'm good at rough sex if that's what you want.”“Get away from me you stupid piece of shit!”I use all of my effort to repeatedly extricate his hand from my arms, but I can't break his tight grip.He was about to succeed in pulling you out when a figure suddenly came out of the crowd.“Aaah!”The guy didn’t hesitate to kick the frivolous man. His timing and moves seem to show that he knows how.The timing of the attack seems like he has been seeing what's going on from afar. Who's this?I gasp some air as I’m surprised to see the frivolous man lying on the floor, covering his stomach and breathing his blood.“Serves you right.”I look at the sudden arrival of
The crowd is dancing body to body and I will be so awkward with the situation. Is this how they should dance? It's not my cup of tea.People around me are starting to get closer enough to dance with me.I feel suffocated. I can’t take it anymore. I want to get out of here!I tiptoe to check whether there's any space to slip away from the crowd.Ah! There! Nice.I excuse myself from the mob on my way out of the dance floor to grab a drink.I simply nod as I walk past folks I recognize.“Excuse me.”I appear to be navigating a maze to reach my destination.A drunk guy accidentally bumps into me, which causes me to lose my balance.“Ouch! Watch where you are going!”I can't believe people get drunk and cause inconvenience to others.I bump into another guy and step on his foot.“Aaah! Watch where you are going!”I immediately panic and apologize.“I'm truly sorry. I sincerely apologize. I didn’t mean to step on your foot.”The karma is quite fast. It's such a bad day. I should not have c
“Ugh! I can't believe where are you getting that confidence to still pretend. You're such a two-faced bitch!”“I came in peace and I'd be glad to avoid you all throughout the night. Let's make this slip even just for tonight.”I see her taking a step back and crossing her arms. She looks at me from head to toe.“Whatever, drama queen! Suit yourself but you make sure that you'll get out of my sight all the time tonight.”I look down the floor as a sign of retreat. I know I have to adjust because it would be pointless to deal with her.I ignore her and continue to look at the crowd and move my head with the music.“You are the one who caused him to lose his leg and drop out of school!”“I can't believe that you could be that shameless to show up here! Nobody likes you.”I kept ignoring her because I don't want to make a scene.“Attention everyone! This loser here is the reason why Jason isn't here with us today. Can you believe this shameless bitch?!”I noticed that everyone is staring
