Shane wasn’t certain why his boss had suddenly become so interested in teenagers lately. First, it was his lover’s girl, then Daisy Taylor. He had been asked to do a deep background check on the latter; every little thing about her was documented and presented to the Vampire Lord.

“She’s relatively average,” Shane chimed in as he watched Damien go through the file. What was this about? He’d worked with Damien for almost three centuries now, and never had the other Vampire shown any mild interest in humans. He always said they were merely feeders, existing only to satisfy a Vampire’s hunger.

“I can see that.”

“Why are you suddenly interested in humans?”

“I will be getting married to one in a few months. Learning about them is expected.”

“Yes, but you wouldn’t need to learn about your future stepdaughter’s love scandal with her friend, would you?” Damien said nothing, and this only confirmed Shane’s suspicion. “I’m guessing Daisy is in for a lot of trouble?”
