Dayos POV;
I was in my bedroom working on my laptop when Temi suddenly barged in and draged my doors keys. She ran out before I could say anything and next thing I know, Esther stumbles into the room and falls to the ground.
I quickly rise to check on her. Honestly hoping she didn't fall on her stomach.
"Bukola! "Esther screams.
"You're not coming out till you and daddy settle your fight! "Bukola screams back and my eyes pop. What the?
"What's going on?" I question Esther as I sqwat beside her and pull her up.
"They think we're fighting." Esther replies and my brows furrow.
"What makes them think so? "I quiz.
Esther glances at me and suddenly becomes t
ense again and overly aware of her environment.
"I, I, I don't know. "She replies freeing herself from my grip. What is
Esthers POV; I dump my body on my bed and exhale in exhaustion. I lay on my back and closes my eyes. I suddenly recall the feel of Dayos lips on mine and this causes me to quickly sit up. I draw my fingers to my lips and touch them in disbelief. As if touching them would help me ascertain if I actually kissed one of my brothers best friends. The particular one who's older than my brother with five years and me with ten! "What was I thinking? "I question myself audibly. "Why did I do it? "I quiz again. I sit straight. Deep in thought. Dayo kissed me too. What could that mean? Why did I do it? Why didn't he yell or scream at me? Why did he kiss me too? What on earth made me do that? Is it because I need a shoulder to cry on? Is it because I don't want to loose the second pillar I have and am trying to hold h
Esthers POV; I am busy making a diary entry when I hear a knock on my rooms door. "Yes? "I call. "May I come in?" My brothers voice replies and I look down at the book before me. I'm toast if he should read even a single page of this book. "Hold on a minute. "I call before stuffing the sparkling, hard cover, pink book in the secret compartment of my drawer I made for it. "Come in. "I call once I'm done and Derrick pops his head in. "Hey, "He says as he walks in and shuts the door behind him. "Hi. "I reply with a smile. "I got you something. "He says and my forehead creases. "Unripe mangoes. I heard they are good for pregnant women. "He replies placing a white Polly bag on the study table before which I'm sitting.
Dayos POV; I just foolishly blurted out the truth to Esther's father. We never wanted him to find out this way but in all honesty, I am more concerned about Esther's well-being than her father's temper. I bite my tongue as I look down at the worried Esther. This is most definitely too much for her to take as she soon passes out in my arms. In fear, I quickly pick her up and dash up the stairs. "Derrick, call a doctor! "I scream, making it up the stairs. Only once I'm up, do I realize I've never been up here before so I don't know her room. "Derrick where is Esther's room? " I question in confusion. "Second room on your right. " Derrick calls back and I obey his instruction. I make it into the beautiful and fairly large room. It's neat to say the least. I I rush over to the bed and drop Esther's
Esthers POV; "What? "My father questions more calmly as he makes his way to my bed and sits beside me. "You were rapped? When did this happen? "My father questions. Taking my left cheek in his palm in ever so sweet affection. I gulp before answering "Three months ago. "And he freezes. "What? "He questions in pure confussion and I look up at Derrick before answering. "I didn't know I was rapped till I tested positive for pregnancy. We then connected the dots and found out how the child came about." I reply and my father looks over at Derrick who in turn looks away. His mood is still sore. "Tell me dear, who did this? "My father questions and I watch my heart jump out of the window. "Answer me dear. "My father persuades and I look up at Derrick. Begging him with my eyes not to let me do this alone.
Narrators Narrative; Its been weeks of Esther chatting with Kunle. For some reasons he refuses to take calls, and location or even send a pic. He is also playing safe. Mr. Adebayo was given the evidence of her rape. The tape. A while back by Derrick, but has been too busy with work to check it. It's a Saturday morning and Mr. Adebayo finally decides to watch the clip. He pulls out a jotter, pen, his laptop, and then connects the flash drive to it. He sits before the laptop on his study table and takes a deep breath before clicking play. This crucial moment is one in which a father is about watch his only female child being assaulted. A few seconds into the video, his eyes widen and anger just like venom begins to boil in his guts. Esther is in her room studying. The ASUU strike has not been called off yet, but she still wants to keep her brain fre
I am standing at the entrance of our house with my bags and baggages packed. It all started like a joke this morning and it's already 8:00 p.m. Brother Derrick and I exhausted the whole day trying to convince my father to change his mind. I've been crying all day without a single break. My life has finally gone downhill. Kunle has destroyed me. I knew this was going to happen. I saw it coming. I felt it in my gut. I warrned my brother but as usual, he did not listen to me and did what he thought was best. Now I'm facing the music . Derrick had called Dayo, but he is still not here. "Get out of my house! What are you still doing here? " my father screams and I jump again in fright. Goodness knows how many times I've done that today. "Daddy please don't do this to me. I beg you. Where will I go? " I plead with my father. Crying in bitterness. "You shou
I sluggishly exit the compound as the cold night breeze harasses me. I look up at the night sky and see the dark clouds threatening to cover the moon. It looks like it's going to rain tonight. As I get to the gate, I turn around to take a look at my family's mansion. Remembering all the beautiful moments spent in it. Mostly moments that involved my late mother. She was the light of the house, the oxygen that was needed and she still remains the missing moon in the family's dark Sky.I wish you were here mom. If only she were, I may not have been facing this. Thunder strikes and I look up at the sky. I'm very scared of Thunder. Especially when I found out that thunderbolts actually hit and kill people here in Nigeria. Witch doctors use thunderbolts to fight against their targets. Striking them to death. I've also heard of thunderbolts missing their traget and hitting
We arrive at Dayo's house and it's already 10:00 pm. As he drives into the compound, I realise there's power outage. As he pulls his car to a stop, he calls for his gate man "Audu! " "Sir! " the Slender young man replies running towards us. "Turn on the gen. " Dayo command as he gets out of the car. I stare nervously at Dayos house. I can't believe I'm actually going to live here. For how long? For how long am I going to live here? I honestly have no idea what's going to happen next. I am just as clueless as can possibly be. I am pulled back to my environment by the sound of Dayos car trunk opening. I turn around and find him bringing my things out of the trunk and I swallow. This is really happening. I get down from the car and try to carry one of my bags but he stops me. "Don't worry, I can c
