SELENA

Stephen's eyes cut toward the tent flap like a blade sharp, cold, calculating. His body tenses beside me, the shift so subtle most wouldn’t catch it. But I do. It’s the way a soldier listens when the battlefield goes quiet... right before the bloodshed.

And in that instant, I understand something bone-deep.

I’m not the soldier.

I’m not the prize.

I’m the war.

He’s angry. I see it now, rolling beneath his skin like thunderclouds barely held in check. His jaw tightens, his fists clench and unclench at his sides. Through the warped reflection in the tent’s polished mirror, I watch him. Watch the storm building.

I whisper, barely able to form the words. “Stephen… talk to me. Tell me what’s happening.

What should I be afraid of?”

His breath is slow, heavy, like it’s carrying the weight of generations. He doesn’t look at me at first just stares into the mirror, as if trying to see through time itself.

Finally, his voice cracks the silence. “There’s a story,” he says, low and quiet

SELENAThe silence wasn’t comforting. It pressed against my chest like a weight, thick and suffocating. The kind of silence that knows a storm is coming but refuses to warn you.I stood in the middle of my room, the moon mark still pulsing softly on my forehead like a heartbeat I couldn’t calm. My hands shook at my sides. No training. No control. No idea what I’d unleashed. Just an ancient magic glowing under my skin… and the whisper that I may have broken everything.“Nyra,” I breathed, the name of my wolf, a prayer and a plea. “Please… what do I do?”Her voice curled around me from the inside out, colder than wind through dead branches.“The choice is ours, Selena. You must master your power. Only then can peace return to the realm.”“But I don’t know how,” I whispered. My throat burned. “Tell me what to do…”“Go to the library inside the Wolf House. The answer is there.”The answer.I closed my eyes for a heartbeat, nodding to myself. I could do that. I had to. But first…I spun on

SELENAStephen dropped to his knees, the weight of Alpha Kingsley’s bleeding body cradled in his arms. His lips trembled, but he didn't let the tears fall. Not in front of the warriors. Not in front of me.Still, I saw it.The heartbreak in his eyes. The silent plea.“Please,” he whispered, his voice raw and cracked. “Use your power. Save my father.”He looked up at me, his gaze fierce and desperate. “This is the only way I can show him how much he meant to me how much he still does. He raised me since I was five. I can’t… I can’t watch him die.”A gust of wind cut through the silence, but it wasn’t cold. It was fate. Pressing down on my shoulders. That’s when I heard her my wolf.Don’t do it, Selena. You will defy fate. He’s meant to die. You can’t save him.But I clenched my fists, teeth gritted. But I can, I told her. I have to.She sighed in my mind, a sound ancient and aching. Then be ready to face the consequences. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.I closed my eyes and reached inward

  • My Stepbrother, My Alpha, My Man   CHAPTER 76

STEPHENThe scent of blood hit me before I even stepped into the study.Sharp. Metallic. Wrong.“Father?” My voice cracked as I pushed the door open. There he was slumped in his chair, blood soaking through his tunic, dripping onto the stone floor in slow, sickening drops. His chest rose and fell in shallow gasps. The dagger no, the dagger was lodged in his stomach, its silver blade gleaming with death.I rushed to him. “Father!”His eyes fluttered open, just barely. Blood stained his lips as he forced a cough. “S–son...”“No, no, no. Stay with me.” I dropped to my knees, arms wrapping around him, holding him like I never had before. “You’re going to be fine. You’re strong. You’re the Alpha.”His breath hitched. “Not... for long.”Tears welled in my eyes, but I fought them back. I couldn’t fall apart. Not now. I pressed trembling hands to the wound, trying to slow the bleeding, knowing damn well it was useless. Silver. No wolf could survive a wound from a dagger forged from a fallen A

  • My Stepbrother, My Alpha, My Man   CHAPTER 75

SELENAThe hallways of the pack house blurred through the tears clouding my eyes. My footsteps were slow, dragging, like each one carried the weight of everything I’d tried so hard to survive. My room waited at the end of the corridor, quiet and unchanged, untouched by the chaos raging inside me. I stepped in and shut the door behind me with a soft click that somehow felt louder than it should."Hello, room," I whispered, voice barely above a breath. "It’s been a while."It was a lie. Every corner still echoed memories I’d tried to forget. Every shadow on the wall seemed to mock me.How do you forgive the man who destroyed your life? How do you look past the pain, the betrayal, the nights you cried yourself to sleep hoping for answers that never came? Why didn’t Alpha Kingsley tell Stephen the truth? Why let me be treated like filth, like a curse when it was his father who was to blame?Stephen. The name tasted bitter on my tongue. He stole my firsts my first kiss, my first touch, my

SELENAHe didn’t know.Stephen didn’t know. All this time, I thought his hatred came from truth that he was punishing me for something my father did. I believed every cruel word, every cold stare, was because he knew. But he didn’t.And that made it worse.Because he hated me based on a lie. That’s why every glance he threw my way felt like a blade. That’s why his touch never offered warmth only bruises of a story he never cared to understand. And now, here I was, hiding like a coward behind a pillar, listening to the truth unravel like a blade to the chest.I pressed a hand to my chest, willing my heart to slow down, but it only thudded harder—like it was trying to escape. My back hugged the cold stone pillar, hidden in the corridor’s curve, breath caught in my throat.Everything inside me twisted. Was this what all the hatred had been about?A lie?"Why did you order Luca to kill my mother?" Stephen’s voice cracked through the silence like lightning. The fury in his tone was barely

  • My Stepbrother, My Alpha, My Man   CHAPTER 73

STEPHENThe silence in the car was louder than any growl I’d ever heard in a fight ring.Selena sat by the window, her body angled as far away from me as possible. Her arms were crossed tightly over her chest, as if she were shielding herself from me. The air between us was cold, tense like a wall I couldn’t punch through.I reached out, just barely brushing my fingers against hers, hoping to offer comfort. But the second our skin met, she jerked her hand back like I’d burned her.I froze. Her eyes darted toward me, wide and cautious. Fear. Raw, unfiltered fear.My jaw clenched. I didn’t know what hurt more seeing her look at me like that or realizing I might be the reason she did.I forced my voice to stay calm. “Are you okay?”She nodded stiffly. “Yes.”But she wouldn’t meet my gaze. Instead, she turned her head toward the window again, as though watching the trees whip past could keep her from unraveling.I glanced at her out of the corner of my eye. This distance between us... it

  • My Stepbrother, My Alpha, My Man   CHAPTER 72

SELENA“Adam…” I breathed his name like a secret I wasn’t ready to share, the sound barely escaping my lips.Silence stretched. Heavy. Fragile. Then like a thread pulled tight I felt it again. Not just a voice in my head, but him. Real. Familiar. A spark of warmth in the coldest corners of me.Please, I thought, don’t let this be my imagination.“Are you real?” I asked into the emptiness of my mind, fear crawling beneath my skin. My hands trembled at my sides.Yes. I’m real. His voice came again, clearer this time, like a breeze cutting through the still air. I staggered back a step, heart pounding.“How?” My voice cracked under the weight of disbelief. “You should be dead… I heard you groan that night. The night I fainted…” My voice broke, tears spilling fast and hot down my cheeks.I didn’t die, Selena. I’m alive. But I’m caged… Stephen locked me away.I blinked through the tears. Stephen? The cousin he hates the most? My mind raced, trying to put together pieces that didn’t fit.“B

SELENAI used to dread training. Every swing, every fall, every weight I lifted had always felt like I was dragging my limbs through quicksand. But now… now, the world moved differently.I rolled my shoulders back and gripped the metal bar beside me. With one smooth pull, it rose off the ground no strain, no ache. Just raw power flowing through me like a second heartbeat. Was this what it meant to be whole? To finally have my wolf? The others were scattered across the field, sparring, sweating, shouting. There was tension in the air war was coming. I could feel it in my bones, pulsing with each step we took together. Stephen’s words haunted me still."War is closer than you think, Selena."But what if it wasn’t just war? What if this was about me? About whatever truth Stephen still kept buried beneath his calm, calculated eyes? I could sense it something vital was being withheld. Something that could shatter everything.A prickling sensation skated down my spine, making the hairs on m

  • My Stepbrother, My Alpha, My Man   CHAPTER 70

STEPHENSomething's off with Selena. She’s hiding something I can see it in the way her eyes flicker, in how she won’t meet my gaze. Her hands tremble slightly as she speaks, and her voice carries a strain she doesn’t realize is there."I'll take care of it," she says quietly, her eyes dropping to the floor. She’s avoiding me. Again. My jaw tightens. “Selena”But she’s already turning away, slipping past me as if being near me burns her.“I need to join the others at the training ground,” she says quickly, barely sparing me a glance.I nod, watching her retreat. She doesn’t look back.As soon as the tent flap falls closed behind her, I move. My steps are quick, driven by the urgency crawling beneath my skin. I grab my phone from the table and dial my father’s number. He answers on the first ring.“Son,” he says, his voice low, knowing. “You felt it, didn’t you? The Healer Wolf has awakened.”I press the phone tighter to my ear, staring at the tent entrance. “Yes,” I say. “I’ve felt it
