Lina's POV:

LA could be many things.

For some, it was heaven on Earth. But to me, this was hell in a mansion.

Why?

A fucking devil dwelled in it! No, the devil was seated across me.

He slouched in a chair, and his leather jacket didn't belong in this civilized space.

Hell, neither did he.

But Riven Rythrone was here. He was my soon to be.. stepbrother.

"Darling, is there something wrong with the croissant?" Ma spoke, and I lifted my eyes to her.

From my squeezed nose, and knitted eyebrows, it'd seem I hated the croissant.

But boy, I wished that was it.

The savoury sweet taste of breakfast was ruined by this blue eyed presence. I couldn't hide my displeasure.

"No, Ma" I whispered, dropping my gaze and shoulders.

I was tensed. Way too tensed.

"My words are merely words but believe me, Lina, you'll enjoy it here" Mr Ryker added in his effortless rich tone.

I didn't need to look at the man to know he meant it.

Who wouldn't enjoy staying in a mansion?

The fresh scent of tulips in crystal vases mingled with that of money. They literally blessed my lungs.

Anyone would kill to be his relative. But his step daughter? A step sister to Riven!?

"And Mer's College is so gorgeous, darling. I can't wait for you to start!"

"True. They've A grade teaching equipment and..."

Their voices were fading. Even the clicks of cutleries turned to scrambled noise.

Noise that soon morphed into Olivia's voice. My fork froze in my hand then I tightened it.

With a little head tilt, his sharp gaze almost cut my damn skin.

Yeah, almost.

As I remembered last night, I knew this devil was capable of that and more. He somehow took Olivia and I then made her dangle over shark tanks.

All because I collided into him, and he foolishly lost his watch.

That wasn't my fault! At all!

‘You'll get your chance soon’

Damn him!

It took so much out of me to not stab this fork into his hand. Nah, his heart would be better. Then he'd die.

He'd die, and I wouldn't have to earn any bloody chance to find something I wasn't responsible for.

"Ugh!" I tched unknowingly but the sound met with a clack.

"My fork fell" Then the devil – oh, I'm sorry – Riven spoke.

I wanted to face my dish but his cold stare froze me.

"Darling" Ma called, and I stiffly looked at her. "Be a dear and help your brother" She gave off that her smile.

I hated it. It was sweet enough to cause diabetes.

"My son's not limbless, dear" My attention flickered to Mr Ryker's for a moment.

"But–"

"Of course I'm not, Old Man" I could swear Riven's tongue was made of blade.

He kept slicing everyone's utterance.

"But I'd never reach it" I side eyed him but he didn't look at me.

The psychopath in a jacket had an elbow placed on the table. Tch.

I never expected him to have manners. Talk more or less of basic table etiquette.

"It's too far. Someone more capable else should reach it"

Those blue eyes became slanted, settling deeper on Mr Ryker . The aged but handsome man's jaw ticked.

Tension began rising while I lowered myself.

It was a dumb fork. I'd just grab it and that was that.

There was no need to watch a father son opera cos of a piece of metal.

"Aren't you in support of that, Old Man?" Riven's voice boomed throughout the dinning room.

Hell, I even felt it down here.

"We came here for breakfast and introductions; behave yourself, son"

"Sweetheart, please"

With my knees dung into the rug,I reached for the fork. But.. I didn't see it.

The table cloth has rays of light piercing it. Under the table wasn't dark so either.

My eyes moved from one spot to another. Then it landed on my dear step brother pair of shoes.

Now, the cost of his footwear didn't get my eyed bugling. But the damn fork was there! He was stepping on it.

The fuck?

With a sharp exhale, I crawled to it then poked his sneaker.

Instantly, my spine tingled, and knowingly, I looked up.

Riven stared at me.

Not with orbs filled with boredom like before. Or taunts. Or even awe.

But... expectation.

My brows creased, and one of his.. giggled. His smirk was lopsided, revealing one of his unusually pointy tooth.

Then he led my gaze like a shepherd to a sheep to his crotch.

What?

‘You'll get your chance’

My eyes turned wider as I remembered his words. Wait, this was my chance!?

Hell to the fuck no!

I paled and my throat dry. I even gulped down my own saliva but it remained the same.

So was Riven's intention?

"M-Ma, I think I'm st-stained. I can't come up–" On all fours I remained then balled my fists.

"–yet" My lips quivered as my voice echoed in a muffle.

"Oh! I understand darling. We'll be done soon" Not even Ma's warm voice deforested my froze state.

Nothing would. Especially with Riven ogling at me with frosty, anticipating eyes.

Nothing was said between us but I knew. I knew this bastard – no disrespect to Mr Ryker though – would something If I don't.

It'd involve Olivia. He'd definitely pull her back in his sick web, and he'd suck her dry.

"Damn me" My stomach twisted violently yet I moved closer and closer.

He remained still until I was near. Then he moved his thigh, brushing it against my shoulder.

‘This was insane!’

My heart slammed against my ribs as I moved a shaking hand.

‘This was insanity!’ My knuckles brushed against his pants.

‘Riven Rythrone was fucking unwell!’ These words pounded in my head.

Still, my fingers swept past the metal of his belt. The clinks from culteris meeting porcelain killed the faint one under the table.

And also my unsteady breaths.

Then I glanced swiftly at Riven but it didn't meet his. Heck, in the next moment, my fingers didn't touch his belt as he.. stood up.

The bastard stood up!

"I believe you sweet couple are too much for me" Riven chuckled, the sound low.

As the chair scraped back, my soul returned too.

"And I hate sweets" With that, his steps receded and I.. I finally breathed.

Oh God.

My nails dung into my palms, eyes shut and whimpers almost escaping my mouth.

Ma and Mr Ryker began talking but I didn't hear them. I didn't wa

nt too.

As I pressed my forehead to my knees, I wanted one thing.

To get swallowed up by the Earth. I needed it.

Unless.. unless that demon psycho would be my brother soon!

Well, a butler did scurry out, ready to take the car keys and park it in the garage. But trailing behind him was a maid. A very, very worried one. From her facial expression, Ryker guessed the reason. So, after he tossed the key, and now slouched, he strolled on the cobblestone.“Welcome back, Master.”He barely nodded to the greeting of the maid."The mistress had stopped crying a while ago" Again, the maid, now trailing behind him slowly. From the different, far angles of the mansion’s living room, the servants noticed their employer’s mood. Many guessed and concluded his shoulders were slacked because of weight.Yes, the weight of the soon-to-be Mrs. Rykerthorn's sadness. From Willow’s cries throughout the night, and early hours of the morning, they figured her daughter—the unseen Miss

  • My Stepbrother, My Damnation    Step Sister

Writer's POV:[Riven's Penthouse | The Courtyard]He'd never allow him.First, Riven would be damned to allow Ryker under his roof. Heck, no one had ever stepped in here and come out alive. No one except for… yeah, her.“I'll never allow you.” Ryker's gruff but calm voice came.He wasn't here for pleasantries, so he didn't try to step foot into the building. Besides, only God knew how many booby traps were laid there. So he stood in front of his car, adjusting the cuff of his suit.Riven was irked. Both by his old man's presence and the fact that he treated here like his boardroom. This was his fucking driveway, and he despised rodents on it.“You think I'd sit back and allow you to drag the image of my company down the drain with your attitude?” Ryker faced his son, a deep frown etched on his lips.Riven regarded the man in his early 50s with… awe.As he leaned against his bike, muscular arms folded underneath his chest, he smirked. The kind a king would give to a first-time, unfunn

  • My Stepbrother, My Damnation    A Line

Lina’s POV:I knew something wasn’t good. Maybe it was leaving Princeton at the brink of death.Or just… Riven. No reason but the sheer existence of Riven Rykerthorn.Something wasn’t good, but I needed a solid mind to think about that.My mind was melted by heat. Heat that dispersed from my chest, melting every ounce of strength in me.Riven’s mouth and tongue were the cause.“Pl…ea…se” I couldn’t feel my tongue. I couldn’t feel my own lips move. All I felt was pleasure mixed with a bit of pain.My head shakily lowered, eyes watching this bastard’s cruel mouth on my breast.Water rained down, enough to blur my vision, but I saw it clearly. I felt every fucking thing and—"Oh my!" I cried out at the abuse of my nipple. His teeth grazed it too harshly. Too sinfully. Yet so delicately."Hmm!"He detached his mouth, and not even water washed the redness away."Fuck" I heard Riven grunt, switching his attention to the other. He pulled the thin, wet shirt all the way to my collarbone, want

  • My Stepbrother, My Damnation    Never

Lina’s POV:Something felt wrong. Way too wrong. And it wasn’t because of how quiet this place was. My consciousness had returned, yet I refused to open my eyes.My brain remembered everything – I got abducted twice. Yeah, the first abduction happened with Ma when she took me from the station. And the second, the most infuriating one, was with Princeton. That bloody bastard had never taken no for an answer.Back then, after my body tensed up whenever he touched me, I’d try to withdraw. He’d refuse, hell-bent on forcing things, and so I broke up with him. You’d think the breakup plus my move to LA would get him off my back. But no. He followed me here. Ugh!The abduction wasn’t completely unexpected. What I didn’t expect was the silence.Where did Princeton bring me to? Why was the silence so damn heavy? And most importantly, why did it smell like Riven?!Finally, but slowly, my eyes fluttered open.“Hmm,” I winced a bit since my head pounded dully.I tried to sit upright and, shocking

  • My Stepbrother, My Damnation    Kindness

Riven's POV:[Evening = A Casino]I didn't need a doctor or even a nurse. I mean, laughter was said to be the best medicine, right? The only medication I needed to soothe the pain biting into my shoulder was...Yeah, laughter. And every time my daggers landed beside the whimpering bastard, I chuckled."I've... I've told you everything I know! I swear! Don't kill me!"Even his tearful rants were comical, and I kept throwing blades at him.Today had been... fun. A day filled with giving out torments and collecting cash was fun. What better way to end it than by visiting a casino and playing darts?"The wannabe biker gang are called The Viper Cell. How corny!" Whilst Niko scoffed, I twirled a dagger between my fingers. The space was filled with nothing but this amnesic fool's breaths and clatters."They even had the balls to attack The Grim Reaper." Another voice, more gravelly than Niko's, was heard."We should barge into whatever shithole they dwell in and kill them!" The voice yelled.

  • My Stepbrother, My Damnation    Q&A

Lina's POV:[Late Morning – LAPD Station]I saw blue.Whenever I closed my eyes, all I could see was that darn color. It truly was a beautiful shade but when it was trapped in the orbs of Riven Rykerthorn? It was torture.Last night felt like a fever dream, and even awake, I still experienced the aftermath."I hate this" My groan was barely a sound, easily swallowed by the thud of my pen that spilled.Within today - within three minutes, my pen pen had slipped from my fingers. It rolled lazily across the desk like it was tired of my bullshit. Well, I, myself was sick and tired of so many bullshits.By that I meant Riven.I was the one who sprayed antiseptic in his eyes then why do my eyes burn so much.Maybe it was because I didn't sleep properly - Olivia kept asking questions, demanding to know why I lodged us in a hotel. She kept me awake all night.But.. that was a lie.My bestie's deserved rant wasn't the cause. The sweet curly head fell asleep after rambles.I couldn't sleep beca
