Chapter 1

When my colleagues heard my words, they immediately mocked and called me a copycat.

"You're always trying to compete with Yelena, Evie Blaze. Can't you stop? You're just some broke nobody, and she's way out of your league!"

"Exactly! Yelena's family is well off. Her dad is the chairman of our company, so she couldn't care less about some lottery winnings."

"It's a blessing that Yelena's helping all of us make money, so I won't let you give her a hard time!"

The irony was that all the money they'd won thanks to Yelena Moon was mine. Even the company's chairman was my father, who had nothing to do with her. Yet in my past life, he'd chosen her, an outsider, over me…

Thinking about how my father treated us so differently, I gripped the lottery tickets tightly. Right now, my priority was to figure out ways to sever the link that tied my luck to hers.

When Yelena noticed my silence, she flashed a smug smile. "Thanks, guys! But who knows—maybe Evie's the walking lucky charm."

"She's holding a lottery ticket right now, so why don't we have her scratch it and see?"

At that, the crowd started egging me on, shouting for me to scratch the ticket right then and there to see if I'd won. Some of them even started placing bets.

"I'll bet a full year's pay plus my bonus that Evie's ticket isn't worth more than a thousand dollars!"

Another laughed and chimed in, "I bet there isn't a single penny on that ticket! I put ten years on it, and if I win, she has to hand over ten years' worth of her pay!"

They got so carried away that they even drafted a mock betting agreement, insisting that I sign and thumbprint it.

I backed away and tried to escape the chaos until I slammed into someone, who grabbed my wrist tightly.

"You sounded pretty confident when you said you had great luck, Evie. What's wrong? Are you too scared to bet now?"

It was my fiance, Nate Ryder.

Just half a month ago, we'd sweetly celebrated our third anniversary. We'd even tattooed each other's names on our bodies and vowed to never part.

Now, unmistakable disgust and indifference were written all over his face as he shoved me away with such force that I hit the ground hard and slammed my head.

Blood trickled down my face. The pain was so bad that I couldn't get back up, but not a single person showed concern. If anything, they cheered.

That scene was just like my past life. Whenever a ticket Yelena picked ended up winning, I would suffer accidents, injuries, or even life-threatening situations.

Sure enough, a colleague's phone chimed, and their face lit up with joy.

"The lottery ticket Yelena told me to buy hit a hundred-thousand-dollar prize! I'm going to be her devotee for life!"

Everyone rushed to congratulate him. Even Nate ignored me and turned to look at Yelena adoringly.

"You really are a lucky star, Yelena. Whoever gets to marry you will be the luckiest man alive."

Yelena glanced at him shyly, but when she looked back at me, her eyes were filled with innocent malice.

"I never meant to compete with you, and I don't want you drowning in debt either, Evie. As long as you sincerely apologize to all of us, I won't hold it against you."

Nate stepped in front of her and said, "Don't pity her, Yelena. A bitter, jealous person like her would never admit she's wrong.

"Let's just leave her lying on the floor, and she can go to the hospital after she apologizes."

I could feel my heart turn cold when I heard Yelena sigh almost regretfully. "Well, I guess there's nothing I can do, Evie. Since you're too scared to scratch your ticket and won't apologize, just stay there."

Bit by bit, I lost all my strength and slipped into a half-conscious state. Yelena immediately volunteered to take me to the hospital.

On the way, she quietly scratched my ticket before I heard a notification ping on my phone.

"Payment of 1,000,000 dollars received. Please check your balance."

She clicked her tongue in annoyance and muttered to herself, "Good thing you didn't scratch it yourself, or my secret would've been out…"

Suddenly, it all clicked.

Scratching my lottery tickets myself meant that I could siphon Yelena's luck back from her!

After the farce finally ended, Adam was detained for intentional assault. But a sudden seizure left him with slurred speech and a complete inability to care for himself, so he was transferred to a specialized medical detention facility. As for Yelena, she completely lost her mind after losing the baby. She wandered the streets all day in a daze and stopped every passerby to ask where her baby had gone. When they brushed her off, she would jab her finger in their face and scream, "I'm the wife of Adam Blaze, chairman of Blaze Group! If you dare hide my baby's whereabouts from me, I'll make sure you pay with your life!"But now, I was the one running Blaze Group, so no one paid attention to her lunatic ravings. I found her public antics damaging to the company's image and sent her to a psychiatric hospital, so now, only Nate was left. The mysterious, sketchy system utterly ruined him. With Yelena's debts added to the pile, he found himself drowning in a debt that ballooned into hu

In the photos, Yelena was perched on Adam's lap, kissing him passionately. Some images were so explicit the present shareholders could barely look at them.Yelena screamed in despair, "Stop looking! Nobody can look!"It's not what it looks like! Adam is my dad, and we're father and daughter!"Even at this point, she was desperately trying to sell the lie and deny the truth. When I gestured for the bodyguards to drag her out, Adam shot to his feet in a panic."Wait! She's pregnant with your little brother, so you can't do this to her!"As the words left his mouth, all eyes in the room fell on him.Adam had always maintained the image of a refined, educated businessman. This was the first time he looked utterly pathetic. For the sake of the baby in Yelena's womb, his aged face was flushed a deep, humiliated red as he lowered himself to plead to me."As your dad, I'm begging you…"I've waited so long for this baby, Evie. I need a son to carry on the family line. You wouldn't wa

Once I tapped the send button, the administrators lying in wait swiftly kicked every colleague from the group chat and posted an announcement."Effective tomorrow, a new team of core executives headed by Ms. Evie Blaze will take over. Stay tuned for further updates."At the same time, employees of my digital PR and cybersecurity team called in."Ms. Blaze, we've restricted network access for the individuals involved. They can't post a single thing."I nonchalantly responded, then replied to Nate and Yelena, who were blowing up my private chats with furious, unhinged messages."What goes around comes around. Payback's a bitch."With that, I blocked and deleted their numbers.…The next morning, I arrived at the office impeccably dressed. From a distance, I spotted a crowd huddled by the entrance. They were people I'd fired. The moment they saw me, they turned meek and obsequious, which was a far cry from their former arrogant selves."We're so sorry, Ms. Blaze. It was all ou

"Evie! You forced my hand!" Nate screamed. "I've got the system on my side, so if you dare cross me, you'll pay a heavy price!"Right now, he was no different from a desperate clown I shouldn't even be bothered to fear.I left with my bodyguards, ready to reclaim the vast fortune Mom had left for me. It was also at this moment that I finally understood the truth—Yelena and Dad weren't related by blood at all. She was just his mistress.Apparently, a tarot reader had given him a reading and told him that Yelena would bear him a child—a son at that—so he indulged all her whims.Given their massive age gap, Yelena had a habit of calling him her dad.To make matters worse, she was pregnant, which gave her all the leverage she needed to feel arrogant and untouchable.Looking at the photos and videos of her kissing Adam, I felt sick to my stomach. An illegitimate child would have inheritance rights, so I had to reclaim all of Adam's assets before she gave birth to her baby. There

No one took my words to heart.Nate stepped forward and grabbed me by the arm. After dragging me out, he clamped his hand around my throat and demanded, "Bitch! You removed the tattoo, didn't you? Why is all our money gone?"I looked into his venomous eyes and felt a sudden flicker of curiosity. "Why do you hate me so much, Nate?"Why did he hate me so much that he would go to such lengths and resort to twisted, dark methods just to kill me?He narrowed his eyes and finally stripped away his last pretense. "Ha! So, you do know everything."That's right. I used the system and tattoo to swap our lucks, but why does it even matter? You've got no one to blame but yourself when you refused to save my mom. You're the reason she missed out on the best liver transplant, so this is your payback!"You killed my mom, so you don't get to loaf around and play the rich heiress!"Since when did I kill his mom?Baffled, I snapped back, "Let's get one thing straight, Nate! When your mom was ill

Under the weight of the skeptical stares, Yelena's eyes turned red-rimmed. She sprinted toward Dad and threw her arms around him. "Dad! They're being so mean to me!"Dad stiffened slightly before he instinctively wrapped an arm around her waist and stroked her back. His tone was oddly intimate and exasperated as he said, "Let go, sweetie. Everyone's watching."I narrowed my eyes and couldn't shake the hunch that Dad and Yelena didn't feel like father and daughter. Instead, they felt more like…Before I could dwell on it, a few colleagues who loved stirring trouble jumped back in. "So, Mr. Blaze really is Yelena's father! For a second there, I actually thought she was lying!""That means Evie is the liar all along. That must be embarrassing," another chimed in, clicking their tongue.I ignored their mocking laughter and kept my eyes fixed on Dad and Yelena. One heavy word at a time, I asked, "Is she really your daughter?"When Dad looked at me, his eyes twitched a little before
