Chapter 28 - Racy Gifts

“Congratulations, Teacher Cassie. As promised, my father is returning home tonight.”

I raise my brows at Lukas. “Hmmm, I am not sure why congratulations are in order, though,” I say. “He promised, right?”

“He did. But as far as my father is concerned, his promises are... not something to trust.”

Oh, a workaholic, huh? Though it should not matter to me. We are in a contract marriage because of the benefits.

I stand up and walk to the refrigerator. “Instead of being too focused on my relationship with your father, how about you take a rest tonight?”

Lukas’ face lights up. “You mean that?”

“I do. It’s your two-week academic break, anyway. Even if there are only five days remaining.”

“Nice, a break from studying during my academic break,” he says sarcastically.

I turn my attention back to him and roll my eyes. “Lukas, we did a lot of pre-examination today. You are too delayed, so I don’t think you deserve a break, per se.”

“Are you aware that you are a ruthless teacher?”

I grin.
