ALEX

Mom’s voice echoed from downstairs, sending tremors to every inch of the house. Another fight session with my Dad — I'm getting sick and tired of watching my parents fight every day. I ignored them. I needed to check on Nicky.

"Is Mum and Dad fighting again?" Nicky asked in a trembling voice as I walked in, his face still pale from the cold. His eyes are partly shut, and he was curled like a ball.

This has been the routine for days now. The arguments never seemed to end and they hurt Nicky so bad.

"I'm sorry," Tears hazed my eyes as I bent to kiss his cheek. Nicky was only seven years old, way too young to experience the trauma of growing up in a chaotic home.

I'm nineteen years old and legally a consenting adult. More than that, I've seen far worse things than a couple fighting. That's why I'm not very much perturbed by my parents' endless fights. But not Nicky. He always cries his heart out when they fight, and right now, he has a fever, and I'm scared crying would make his condition worsen. I was glad I had taken some money from Gilda, the drugs would help. I loved my brother more than anything else and these arguments weren't good for him.

I wish my parents thought this through before they started this fight tonight. Any other night would have been okay, but not today. Nicky's condition was fragile and needed attention, not the chaos they were brewing downstairs. Speak of bad parenting!

Nicky started sobbing hard, clutching his pillows and burying his face in it.

"Hey, don't do that, please," Tears dropped down my eyes as I joined him on the bed, soothingly rubbing his back.

"I hate that they always fight. Why can't they just be happy? I thought they loved each other," He said between tears, wrapping his hand around my waist and placing his head on my lap.

"Yes, they do. But sweetie, feeling love isn't always enough," Saying that made my heart knot in pain. It made me recall how hard I loved Noah, and yet, I caught him fucking my best friend. It feels like Love is never close to being enough. I learned that the hard way.

"Then what else do they need?" Nicky asked again, shuddering slightly.

"Money." I sighed, running my fingers through his brown, curly hair, just like our father's. Nick could be young, but he was a striking replica of our father.

I, on the other hand, got a bit of both our Dad's and mom's looks. Red-haired. A few freckles on my skin. Curvy as fuck, Just like our mother, and amber eyes, just like our father.

"Money?" Nick looked up, staring at me with wet eyes.

"Yes, dear. Money. For your treatment. For my schooling. To get us a better apartment. A better life. You name it," I puffed, feeling dejected.

I heard Dad's phone ring, and he walked out of the house. I heard the door close. The silence that followed was heaven.

"I'm sorry, Nicky, try and sleep now," I said, plopping down on the bed beside him. I kissed his cheek and ran my hand over his neck. Damn it, he's burning up. "I got you some drugs."

"Am I gonna die, Alex?" Nicky asked, wincing in pain and dragging up his duvet.

I smiled, but it was a sad one. As sad as my life. "I won't let you die, baby. You'll be fine. I promise." Kissing him one last time and leaving the room to get some water. If I could have it my way, I would give him the world..

I snuck out of the room and into the kitchen with my bag, unnoticed. Mom would complain for hours if she knew I was there to listen and I didn't want that.

I sat down in the Kitchen and let the tears flow. It was hard keeping the tears in check in front of Nicky. Nicky hated seeing me cry. That's why I had to act fucking strong in front of him. If only he knew how badly his big sister was breaking inside

Two weeks passed in a rush and eventually I went back to work and there was no sign of Noah Wyatt anywhere close to me.

He wasn't stalking me. He didn't follow me anymore. It was almost like he'd forgotten about my existence.

The men vanished too. A few times, I had snuck up the stairs and hovered around their suite. One time, I dared to open it, but it was starkly empty, like it wasn't harboring three sinful hot men days back.

I had to reprimand myself. Stalking a couple of full-grown men, old enough to be my uncles or guardians, was out of my character. I had to get a grip and force myself to forget I had ever met them.

Tonight was just like every other night, and I was getting ready for my shift. I was having a midnight shift. Would be on the clock from 10 pm till morning.

A knock came to my door the second I grabbed my bag. "Alex?!"

"Coming, Mum!"

"Hurry up. We're waiting downstairs." And then her footsteps followed, indicating she was gone.

I hurried out of the room and came down to the living room. Dad was seated on a double couch with Mum. Nicky was on a single couch, and the empty single couch was for me.

I sat on it, crossing my legs and getting ready to know what this sudden meeting was about.

"Listen carefully, kids. Your father and I have something important to tell you both," Mother began with a serious tone.

I glanced at Nicky, who looked as terrified as I was. My fingers were crossed. Dear God, I hope they were not announcing their plans to get a divorce. There was no guarantee that I would take the news like a sane adult. Not to mention what it would do to Nicky.

"Tell them, Conor," Mother said, rubbing my Dad's thighs.

He nodded and stared at Nicky and me. "I have made a decision that would change our lives forever,"

"What's that, Dad?" I was itchy to hear it, no matter how detrimental it would be. Tears were already clogging my vision.

"My father, your grand father, has died. We will be attending his funeral. And.."

"Go on." Mom nudged.

"We'll be leaving Denver tomorrow. I've decided to reunite with my family and my half-brothers." Dad sighed.

ROXY A year had passed, and everything had changed in ways I never thought possible. The house was alive with laughter, the clinking of glasses, and the soft babbling of my two baby boys. They were asleep in my arms and Draven's as we entered the dining hall, but even in their quiet slumber, they radiated peace and joy.I held one of the twins close, feeling his tiny hearts beat against my chest. Draven walked beside me, his hand firmly holding mine and his other hand holding our other baby. There was a calmness about him now, a warmth that had grown over the past year. I couldn’t help but smile as he squeezed my hand gently, his eyes flicking to our sons, pride written all over his face. The table was set beautifully, candles flickering, and the aroma of home-cooked meals filled the room. Silas was there, his usual smugness replaced by shame, I realized. He kept glancing down, avoiding my eyes and Draven’s.“Roxy,” he began, his voice hesitant. “I… I want to apologize. For ever

DRAVEN I was standing in the driveway, my chest still tight from everything that had happened. The cool night air did little to calm the storm inside me. The camera bag sat in the trolley Mia had given to me earlier. “Roxanne.” I called, finally breaking the silence. She turned to look at me. “I’m sorry for coming this late,” he said, his voice quiet but firm. She blinked at me. I was unsure what to say. “I… I need to explain,” I continued, stepping closer. “Everything that happened, with your family, with Silas… you need to understand.”She released a heavy breath, but didn't say a word. I took a deep breath, and began. “Your family was going bankrupt. You didn’t know. I had to step in, someone had to. It was just business… nothing personal.” Her eyes met mine, “That’s why when I heard you ran away and got hit… I had to take you to the hospital.”She stared at me again then asked. “You have always liked me. Why did you not approach me?”I exhaled and replied. “I had a goal. M

ROXY I was just coming back from my usual evening strolls, camera bag slung over my shoulder, my fingers still itching from editing a few wildlife shots on my phone. The sky was turning a deep orange, the kind of evening that made everything feel alive and calm, and for once, I had felt a little at peace. But that peace evaporated the moment I reached the entrance of the house. Standing there, like some dark reminder from the past I didn’t want to face, was Raquel. My stomach twisted, and I froze. I didn’t want to hear anything from her. My hand went instinctively to the doorknob, ready to retreat inside.“Roxy, please… just listen,” she pleaded, her voice soft, almost desperate.I shook my head and tried to ignore her. My heart was racing, and my patience was thin. But something in her tone, the way she sounded genuinely… shaken, made me pause. She stepped closer, lowering her gaze. “I… I’m sorry, Roxy. I know I betrayed your trust.”I stopped dead in my tracks, my pulse speeding

DRAVEN Two weeks later… I sat behind my desk, staring at the blank screen of my iPad. Roxy hadn’t returned a single call I gave her. She didn’t answer her phone, didn’t respond to my messages. It was like she’d vanished from the world, and it was slowly eating me alive.Across from me, Doreen tapped her fingers on the table, her face filled with both impatience and concern. “Draven… do you even know where she is?” Her voice was sharp but not harsh, more exasperated than anything.I didn’t lift my eyes from the screen. “If you’re tired of watching me sulk for two weeks, you can return to France. I’ll call if I need you.”She shook her head, rolling her eyes. “Sulking isn’t you. You’re acting out of character. And I can’t leave you like this. Not when it’s obvious you’re falling apart.”I finally glanced at her, arching an eyebrow. “You’re making too much noise, Doreen.”“Too much noise?” she shot back, leaning forward slightly. I smirked faintly but didn’t respond. Doreen, however

SILAS I lay on the cold floor for a moment after Roxy rushed out. My whole body throbbed. My face felt swollen, and every breath dragged pain through my ribs. I let out a long sigh and closed my eyes.“Damn it,” I muttered.I wasn’t sure if the pain in my body or the pain in my chest was worse. Maybe both were what I deserved.I heard Draven’s slow footsteps walking back toward me. Even without looking, I could feel that coldness he always carried. He crouched beside me and pulled my phone from my weak grip. I didn’t fight him.I heard him scroll through it, then the soft click of a file being deleted.“Don’t ever speak ill of our mother again,” he said. His voice was low, steady, but full of something sharp enough to cut skin. “Don’t ever mention Lyra’s name with your filthy mouth. And if you get close to Roxy again, even by mistake, you start preparing your coffin.” He stood and turned to walk away.Something inside me twisted. It shocked me when tears rolled down my face. Real

ROXY The sound of fists hitting flesh echoed through the private dining room as I rushed in. For a second, my brain froze. Draven was on top of Silas, punching him again and again. Silas’ face was already smeared with blood along his cheek and lip. He grunted, blocking weakly, but Draven didn’t stop. His jaw was clenched so tight a vein stood out along his neck. And the crazy part? A part of me felt satisfied watching Silas get the beating he deserved. But if Draven continued, Silas might die.“Stop!” I screamed. My voice tore out of my throat so raw that it scratched.Draven’s fist halted mid-air, shaking from the force he had been swinging with. He whipped his head toward me. His blue eyes were wild. His chest rose and fell fast, like he was holding himself back with the last bit of restraint he had.“Roxanne…” he breathed, stunned. My own eyes flooded. The tears stung so sharply I had to blink hard just to see. I'd forgotten my phone when I wanted to call my father to move him
